They're fixing it soon though. It's crazy what some noobs will pay for armor they cant wear.

Because they do not know that they cannot wear it, and that it will be useless for them, especially after the bug is fixed.

Y'know, if I had been F2P for life and I didn't have any members items and was mining Rune Essence back in the day. I would have paid ANYTHING to get at least 1 members item in my bank to prevent my Rune Essence from becoming regular essence.

 

 

 

If you recall, if you have one members item in your bank the day before/day of the change to Rune Essence all your essence became pure essence. I went back to F2P during that time and I was incredibly glad that I had kept a whole bunch of my Members gear, otherwise the 20k essence I had would have been turned to regular essence.

 

 

 

Perhaps these "noobs" are preparing for the next "pure"-whatever.

That's true, it's not item scamming. But it is bug abusing, since it is a known bug that they are currently F2P and everyone knows they're not supposed to be.

I believe that they're collecting this armor as a social status to prove how long they've been playing the game.

 

 

 

Back in RSC Charcoal was tradeable for a short while, and if you got it, you had a higher social status then others because you had charcoal and nobody else did, it also made you feel special.

 

 

 

This also happened when the tourist trap quest was released. You were able to get the the "red card" (also known as the shanty discliamer) on RSC and was sold for unbeleiveable amounts beause it was something that only YOU could have an no one else. Such as [Caution: Jagex Rule Violation]s and bunny ears are today

Correct me if i'm wrong but I don't think they can wear it now either cause completion of the Slug Menace quest is a requirement is it not.

 

 

 

Also, there is a much cheaper way to prepare for the next "pure" thing, just dig at the grave behind draynor manor.
