In the last few weeks of August 06, I bought two green masks, one for 23M and the other for 27M.

 

 

 

In the last two weeks(after i completed my bology exam) I was checking the prices of them and wondering why they don't rise much. In the end of August, the prices were going around 25-27M(i bought for top price, because I am not a merchant-liking guy and I hate standing there and waiting for someone to sell for less) and now the prices are going around 27-28M, sometimes higher(up to 30M).

 

 

 

The prices of santa hats(I had two of these before) seem to be rising more and faster than green masks and I have been wondering if santas will overcome masks.

 

 

 

I would like You to give out Your oppinion about the slow-raising prices of masks and fast-raising prices of santas and tell if is it better of selling masks and buying back santa hats.

Santas already passed green and blue masks once, they could do that again, but noone ever knows...

Santa's were once worth more than every mask, so they will probably do it again. I would sell the masks and buy santa's, i think masks have gone up all they're going to for a while, but santa's have climb yet, And no i'm not just saying this because of my signature.

masks have more of e demanding market, even tho they look dumb, and the classic masks look like feret faces.

 

 

 

 

 

masks rise hard and quicker then a santa. but in turn santas slowly grow and have a huge demand around christmas. the thing is, i personally believe i would get a santa, and keep a single green mask, just to play all positions of the field (so to speak.) wit the $ you may have left over from the green mask to get a santa, you could use that to buy something else, even tho the price differnce isnt a great as it used to be....too bad eggs still arent like 1.4mil

I've allways been partiall to green masks when i was gona buy one at 4 mil and they jumped to 8mil the next week anyway green mask ftw its my favourite rare. :mrgreen: So basically greens are a steadier investment as santa hat prices can crash really easy since theres more of them.

I personally like masks a lot better than santas. If you look, santas are a little too tall for my liking. :P

 

 

 

I dont think they will go higher than masks, but I have also seen people selling them for 100m on the forums since their price can be determined by players. (100m is rare, and people rarely buy it, but I have seen it on the Runescape forums).

 

 

 

Also, what's the deal with 1/2 Wines? I've seen them sold for 70m and many, many people are willing to trade a red mask for them! I mean what can you even do with it? (Don't buy one! It's useless! :shame: )

Simple there are 3 kinds of masks and only one kind of santa hat.

Anyways, I have made a foolish mistake and now i'm left with one Green Mask, a Disk of Returning and 5M(which i spent), not going into details, I'm just telling you that I was "scammed" and lost around 10M, which i am not worrying much about -.-

 

 

 

My plan was to sell one of the masks for as much as possible and buy a santa for as little as possible and get a little extra money which I needed.

 

 

 

Because of that event I decided to keep the mask and wait for disk prices to go up a bit, so i won't have such a loss. Well, I am probably going to sell it when I need guthan for Fight Caves. Or maybe just wait for a drop of Santa hat prices and trade disk for a santa(probably won't hap.pen).

 

 

 

I personally think it is better to have a mask, because there are less of them and their prices are more likely to rise, but a good thing would also be having one of each just in case(a smart idea by jessy87)

my extremely rich friend who also has even richer friends has told me two people between them bought 100 santas...also loads of other merchants have been buying in santas and that is y the prices is risen

I just wanted to know why do the prices rise so slowly and what is everyones' oppinion on what is better to have: Santa or Green mask depending on future rise or fall of the prices.

Less masks than santas according to duke theres around 15K santas and only 7500 masks in total, therefore masks will come over ontop in the long run.

Back when Santas where 4.5 mill, masks were 4.3 mill. (Green mask he)

 

Then Green became higher then Santa.

 

Now Santa will go higher again I think. :D

Personally I prefer green masks. I don't have mine because of it's monetary value, I keep it because I like it.

 

 

 

I used to have a santa, but I decided that the mask was much nicer, so the santa was sold in order to purchase it. Had I really wanted to (and if I really wanted to now) I could merchant/mine rune until I had enough cash to cover the gap between green and blue, however out of all the rares the green mask is my favorite (though were I a p2per it'd probably be red, as I wouldn't have my rs guy living in green dhide).

 

 

 

As far as prices go, I have something of a theory on how that works (I'm no expert, so this may be way off):

 

 

 

Around halloween, and even a bit earlier, masks seem to come almost to the price of santas. I believe this is caused mainly by 2 things:

 

1)People trying to buy santas in order to sell them come christmas

 

2)People trying to sell masks, convinced that people will snap them up as halloween is just around the corner

 

 

 

Actually I wouldn't be even remotely surprised if the price gap between masks and santas grew immensely come christmas (with santas being at the bottom) as the supply shoots up from long term (that phrase used lightly) merchants flooding the market with santas, while the same types of people buy masks, convinced that the price will go up come halloween, repeating the cycle.

Right After Iodio released his 3rd staking video he was banned, I suspect he never had a chance to sell his rares. OR he always held his rares instead of selling, which would also raise the price.

I don't have a santa hat or mask, but from my observation I'd say sell the mask buy the hat.

For some reason I have a feeling that Santas will start to be not as good of an investment coming soon. I would rather have a mask then a Santa right now.
