Ghost-Knigth
The story: About a year ago someone pmed me in game asking about something concerning pking. He had seen a topic or something by me here. We started talking and soon we became very close friends. We even started chatting over ms*. So, we were great friends. Then one day he had apperently been hacked. So, I gave him 3 mil so that he could start over again by merchanting. He even made a topic here on tip.it with a picture of me giving him the 3 mil. But then a week later he asked me if he could lend my best items for a picture (fake) showing his items. You may this this was stupid of me, but seriously, we had been talking together everytime we could, even on ms*. About everything. Well, then he just left. A while after I mailed him on ms*: [/i] You can see my question in the box and his answer above. I deleted some letters in his "signature". Now, you may say that it was stupid of me giving him these items (which are btw: whip, 800 bloods, about 300 gems, drag halb, lava staff - that's it I think). So, all in all about 6 mil, including the 3 mil. Nothing that much. Do pixels mean more than friendship - I surely hope it doesn't.. :( 99 ranged | 99 magic | 99 defence | 99 hitpointsRemember, it's just a gameFeel free to add me on RS. :) Always ready for a chat. superwl
Something like that happened to me but I lost about 15-20mil of stuff. After this scam, I have never lent anything to anyone, even my best friends. Anyway Im really sorry for you loosing a friend only for pixels :\
compress
Yeah, it's really pathetic but we have all had it happen to us. "friend" gets really friendly with you then a few month gets your pass/items because they have earned the trust then they hack/scam you. I find this pathetic its heppened before to me too. :? Peronix
Some people just get into a 'friendship' so they can take someone's items. I wonder if they even feel bad after hurting someone like that. Or if they even have any hesitation to do somthing like that after enjoying someone's company long enough to earn their trust. It's pathetic that people value that over friendship. Not even a blue partyhat, or even a set of them could tempt me to do that. Never.

chenw
people these days... Friendship means nothing to your 'friend', all he wanted was stuff from you by using your trust, and he got you, Be careful in real life as well, some people are not what they say they are, but dont that put you off from being nice, just dont be TOO nice. In most cases, Friendship >>> Personal gain, but to some people its the otherway round. I hope those people will one day learn the true meaning of loneliness, helplessness and hopelessness. benisfab
friends are definatley more important than pixels, i have tried getting off of rs recently, but all other games i tryed, i got bored of very quickly as of the lack of people to talk too. I think the only reason that i personally play rs is not for the pixels but for the friends you get to know and talk to  My Blog2 Visage Drops.Over 1800 Castle Wars Tickets.. Rebdragon
Okay, we all know everyone here hates hackers and scammers. We've also heard even over a thousand stories of people getting hacked by friends. Since this is a fairly big betrayal- knowing him for so long and so well (unlike the people who talk occasionally in game) I suppose it's thread worthy, but do we need to have 5 pages of everyone repeating the same dang thing? Yes we know you hate scammers/hackers. Who doesn't? There's no need to repeat yourselves a 100 times over :-s . Saru Inc
Unfortunately, this is seen over and over again... People will fake whole friendships at a time just to scam an innocent person of a whip, or even up to a holiday rare. Because in reality they think you are just a pixel either that or they are just incredibly rude and have no thought for others....... Now all these posts are making me not trust my friends, even the ones I've had since the RSC days of 2002.... My friends are constantly asking me to borrow my whip/Guthan/Dharok.. It's just amazing whats happening on Runescape nowadays... I'm sorry about that scam... Good luck on getting it all back... Just say sure you'll lend it out if they give you something of or close to the value of the item(s)... ~Saruman44 I have all the 99s, and have been playing since 2001. chaosgone
The trick to lending your stuff, in real life, or in Runescape, is to not loan someone anything that you have to get back. That way, if they do not give it back, it will not matter to you. http://www.chaosgone.blogspot.com

I was in no way targetting you, but I was trying to inform everyone that we don't need another thread where everyone says over and over "I hate scammers/hackers" (as that is where threads like these tend to move towards). You were within your rights, as I clearly stated, to make this thread and ask the question; I was merely referring to the people responding, asking them to instead of post the same thing repetitively to answer your question. No offense, just thought I'd point that out.
