LordRunario
The easiest and cheapest is probably cooking or fletching. I like thieving though, since its easy and about 200k exp an hour(91+) in the pyramid when I get there some day, I get about 100k now. :D Gone from level 54-73 in 4 days. If you have 4 million gp or more for fletching.. buying an even amount of bowstrings and yew logs and then selling the yew longs for about 550 - 560 each should get you 1 million xp a day if your on for 5 hours +

dutchdreams
I'd say cooking is easiest: least effort of all skills (auto-cook) and least money to invest. Cookin gauntlets of course are a necessity. Always keep 1k sharks and/or 1k lobs either raw or cooked in bank (only sell the surplus of 1k). Get your behind to fishing guild, keep offering to swap your cooked sharks for raws. Go Catherby fish grounds to swap your cooked lobs for raws. Keep the people that take up on your offer on friends list. The sharks/lobs you burn are easily replaced by the fish you catch yourself. I got 99 cooking myself before auto-cook was introduced and before all the new pies were introduced, so I can't give an accurate estimate of how much cook xp/hour one would get. Freesia
You should go for the skill you like most, for me it's thieving FTW! \ Strangely with WotLK so near, I wished I could delay it a bit to push through that last TBC content in MH/BT :'(. DarkDude
Depends what you mean by easiest, without money being an obsticle there's A LOT of skills that don't require much "effort" just clicking. Prayer (burying), Construction, Herblore, Crafting, Fletching, Cooking, Smithing, Firemaking. Probably missing some but if you have the things required for those and make the best stuff you can then they don't actualy take very long at all. Well, Herblore and prayer but all they are are clicking on items in your inventory, for smithing you make the best plates you can.

Uula
fletching is the most profitable and firemakin is the easiest if u have cash : FIREMAKING ISN'T EASIER THAN COOKING! Cooking sharks is FASTER xp than burning yews... Also, you can EARN money on cooking while firemaking is just a drain... Trust me, I got both 99 :3>

henk333
Cooking is pretty fast, sharks at the rogues den is 300k an hour. Fletching is slow in the cutting part, fast at the stringing part, super fast in the addy darts making part (very expensive though). Cooking breaks even if lucky, especially with so many people going for that cooking cape. Fletching makes a profit, but only after alching which is very time consuming. 85-99 is 54k magic longs, so if you have 54M to spare fletching is probably the fastest 99 you can get. Haven't played RuneScape since 12 january 2007 and it feels great :)

Construction is easy, it's just expesnsive, so getting 200m xp is just a waste of money. Same with Prayer. Same with fire making
idunedain
lets look at statistics of max exp (200mil) of each skills... construction, no body! prayer, no body as well! firemaking, 1 person only! fletching, 5 people cooking, 7 people thoughts? This is not relevant at all. Nobody will train an expensive skill that only costs and not makes money after level 99 (13M) to 200M when there are other skills out there. After you reach 13M xp you can continue to train a skill until you max it out. But why do it with construction or prayer which only cost money (and a lot) and produce NOTHING in return? When you can train fletching (profit), cooking (break even) or firemaking (almost no cost)... This is the explanation for your "statistics" above ;) As for the original question, there are skills you cannot "buy" (agility, thieving, mining, fishing, woodcutting, etc.) This skills will take the longest time to level 99, no matter of how much money you want to put in them. And there are skills easily buyable (you can buy the raw materials needed), like cooking, fletching, crafting, smithing, etc. Now, some of these will bring you back the money you spent, sometimes with a profit, while others will just consume this money (construction, prayer, farming(?)). Your choice, but I think it's obvious from the previous answers that the easiest way to 99 is by fletching or cooking, while if you are very-very rich construction and prayer are very suitable. Good luck! 103 combat | 1M+ xp in each skill (lvl73) | 1800+ skill total | quest capeLevel 86 herblore, 85 farming
crazy_mimic
I got in 19 days from 69 cooking to 99 :P Oh, and didn't spend even 1 gp... just fished like 5k lobsters as a start, went to f2p to switch cooked lobsters for raws. did it lots of times, once I got to 86 cooking a friend let me borrow 2k sharks to cook for her, After I cooked 'em I asked her if I could have them untill I get 99 cooking, to switch with other people Cooked for raws, she agreed, and easily cooked like 5k sharks per day (1m xp per day) was really easy! Not a way to win money, but really fast... Fletching will take a bit longer, but really high porfit... (I got both to 99 :P ) so.. if you're not lazy, you can do both fast... 100 Combat , 999th to 99 cooking, 99 Fletching, 99 Hunter , 1850+ total Buying : Irit seeds 1k each, Candantine seeds 5k each, and Kwarum seeds 12k each

idunedain
Inspired by gspbeetle's idea above, I came up with the following "statistic". Below you will find all the 22 skills existing so far, ordered by the number of users having achieved level 99 in them: Strength 9010 Attack 8307 Hitpoints 6703 Fletching 6283 Cooking 5812 Defence 5328 Range 2889 Woodcutting 2093 Magic 2014 Fishing 781 Firemaking 593 Prayer 563 Thieving 421 Smithing 351 Mining 240 Crafting 145 Slayer 107 Runecraft 103 Agility 94 Herblore 82 Farming 65 Construction 45 Of course, you need to take into account several facts. Slayer, runecraft, farming and construction are recent skills, so less time has been available to train them. And there are many players who are combat-oriented, this is why the combat skills are among the first. Plus, it is to be expected that f2p skills have more maxed players, as there are more players training them. Still, I believe the list above is pretty interesting. And if anything, it confirms that cooking and fletching are the easiest ones. This being said, I'd say a skill cape of Herblore or Agility is more impresive than a Fletching one :) 103 combat | 1M+ xp in each skill (lvl73) | 1800+ skill total | quest capeLevel 86 herblore, 85 farming
