In Runescape we all make mistakes in time some bigger then others. Our best way to overcome these mistakes starts with a simple "What if".

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

So I ask you all to share your stories of your greatest mistakes in Runescape, and what you would do to better yourself in the event you faced the situation again.

I lent a Santa Hat to a friend I DID NOT know in real life. Biggest mistake I've made, would love to take that back. And you obviously can tell whether I got it back or not if I'm mentioning it was a mistake

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

ps: But strange thing is. Around 1 year later. Some random guy in world 1 traded me. He offered for my red mask I said nty sorry. He put his offer up again (santa + 2m). He accepted and gave to me for free. He said he was tired with RS. That was a miracle

In my early days, I was planning on keeping all of my stats neat and tidy. It was all going well until...

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

I was going on a mad RC rampage and didn't notice my mining level was slowly slipping away from my smithing level.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

So now it stands... mining at 58 and smithing at 47.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Too lazy to buy bars/ores anyway. -_-"

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Everything else is fine, except for RC and Crafting. Prayer I'm on my way to 61 soon. Just give me 1 more week. :XD:

I was "quitting rs" with my main, (Jay Rune) and back then, I got real bored, real quick, so his stats sucked, but he was 70 something. I dropped all my stuff, like 3 sets of full rune, 2 dragon longs (This was in classic, like JUST when drag meds came out I think) money, runes, herbs, a lot of crap which was worth soem good money. and, well, I didn't give it to my brother, and I didn't keep it. BIG mistake.

Once I was training in Wildy, A level 45 was right in front of me. I started to chase him, I wanted to kill him :twisted: .

 

 

 

But after a while a whole buch of high level people comes and attacks me. I die in about 10 seconds.

 

 

 

I lost stuff worth at least 600k.

 

 

 

If I could go back there now, I would never had followed that guy.

I play one and only one rs guy. I've had him since rs started, and if I could change anything it would have been to participate in holiday drops. When they happened I thought they were so uterly useless that I didn't even bother with most of them, and the ones I did were with the food for a free heal. :wall:

well, i started runescape at 2003 and i still remember when santa hats were released, the biggest mistake ive made would be giving them to a friend i didnt know irl. he doesnt play anymore so no hope of getting them back :wall: ,santa hats were the only thing i collected in those days because it looked cool all the other things i thought were just a waste of bank space :wall: .

About 2 years ago on my account I had around 1.5mil on it and and i refused to buy a santa hat for like 500k back then #-o . Now I wosh I did, but that account was hacked and so i quit for like 1.5 years. :(

i've got a doozy. In probably a week or 2, marks the anniversery of my rise. Shortly after i joined tip it, i was walking around fally, talking to a friend i had recently persuaded to play. THis guy had come up and was boasting about how he had recently found 10 yellow party hats on the GROUND! I wasn't really in tune with the rare market, i hadn't even seen or heard of a phat, but he said they were worth a whopping 8M...I could barely fathom that number of gp...i was just barely making it to 14k. So he shows me 9 in a trade, and 8.3M gp, he sold one. He proceeds to put one on and attacks a gaurd. The gaurd is winning, and he is about lvl 33 and ranging this gaurd. His hp is already lowered by something else and he then either lags out or just is stupid and dies. I RUSH WITH ALL MY HEART OVER THERE. I click frantically, competeing with about 4 others. I click, click, click, click...7 yellows and the 8.3m... :shock: I'm pming my friend completely hyper, trying to figure out how much money 8300k is...so we figure it's 8.3M and that's 64.3M total. I'm about lvl 50 here and have just made 64.3M in a few seconds..more than most people have ever done. Now, me being the generous person i am :wink: , give one yellow to my recently new friend, whom i knew irl, and one who went to my school irl. Now lets venture into the future.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Alright, so my first friend has quit, with a yellow collecting dust in his bank and my other friend had sold his for about 1.3M full rune and green d hide. I punched him the next time i saw him. He was quite the noob #-o , so...i had sold one for some stuff that helped me get started..probably got ripped but it helped (runes, armor, weapons etc..) Alright so that's 4 left. I get myself some full zammy for about 5.4M (quite high in it's day) , and a santa for 160 on christmas day. I merchant, get a mask set, sell it for junk later on....merchant a little although i'm terrible at it, sell another phat for 17M, and another earlier on for a couple mil and a purple phat, which were close in price atm. So here we are, one purple, one yellow and about 10m + 2 santas. At this time, my other rl friends are playing and complaining about me not sharing and having those dumb phats collecting dust. I agree, and this is a good decision, i decide that my friends are worth more than some paper pixels, and sell the yellow-36M and the purple-22M or something, then persuade to have my old friend give me his phat back in exchange for one of my santas, because he just wanted something cool. I divied the money 3 ways, and a little to my other friend because he was being obsessed and he didn't care, so we each got 21M about. Well, moral of the story, i should've let the phats collect dust and just use the other cash. But i really wonder how i would've turned out had it not been for that...i could have easily quit, never become p2p and just given up after a few more months. I've never reeeeally made money the hard way starting out, kinda wish i had tho. Anyway, bout 7 months ill try to get my friend with the santa to give it back for something else cool :P

back in rsc i was training on my mage (forget what lvl) in barb, in rsc, range and magic doesnt give hp xp. so i accidentally maged gunthar the brave and lost: 2 party hat sets, 15m, 10k arrows. which is like 4b for the party hat sets, (i think)

Not saying that my Runescape life has been perfect but there hasn't been too much I really regret.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Only thing I truly regret is selling a special Blue Mask. :cry:

 

 

 

It was given to me by a close friend for Christmas, but I already had a green party hat so I never wore it. I thought it would be better to just cash it in, so I sold it. To Duke Freedom actually, for around 800k; I still have those screenshots.

 

 

 

I quit RS a few weeks later and came back and was shocked by the massive increase of the prices of Holiday Rares.

 

 

 

But don't get me wrong... I don't want the Blue Mask back for my personal profits, I could sell my party hat and get a lesser color if I ever really needed money. But I want it back to give back to that friend who was hacked twice since I last saw her. We're not as close anymore but I feel terrible for selling it because it was a special gift. Darn my greedyness!!!! :evil:

In my "younger", more newbish days (2006 still), I'm prancing around Varrock, trying to make a quick buck by picking up any interesting looking items. Yeah, it sucked... whatever. Then... I found it.

Well, I knew a bit about wines, and how they healed you. I'd never seen a half wine before, but I though nothing of it. Snce I was a poor newb, I used wines 'cause they were cheap and healed 11.

'Course, I didn't know about the wonders of half wines back then, so I unknowingly threw away about 40 million GP.

My friend was stupid and lucky. He quit and gave me his stuff and another friend, I get the cash and all the other junk. Other guy gets the rune, I'm shortchanged a bit, but it's free stuff :D . Anyway, next day he decides he might play again, in a matter of weeks he's back training. Well that was dumb of him(we're not huge money makers or serious players, full rune is a lot to us). In a few months, his friend(who got the rune) quits(for real) and gives him all his stuff, two rune sets, 300k, many gems and other good stuff. So here's my friend, who barely had full rune, gave it all away on a whim(not really generosity) has all this cash lying around and two rune sets. Guess what he does? He goes mage and buys a ton of chaos runes. Loses a good deal in the widlerness, then trains on the rest, gains a few levels, then sells his rune to get more runes. Uses them, buys a green d hide chest.

 

 

 

So here he is, with a full set of rune, no money and a few half decent skills.

 

 

 

If that had been me who had been in that situation, I would have focused a lot more on skilling than making money. As a side note, he regularly loses green dragon hide in wildy, though we almost got full rune one time.

I would have sold my red mask in early october and bought it back after halloween. I "knew" it would drop, like it does every year (at least it did 2005), but i was quitting membership and wasn't interested that much in rs at the time anyway.
