Personally I believe the fire cape is harder to obtain, purely because it takes skill to obtain, unlike skill capes that require purely time and/or money.

i think tha fire cape is easier to obtain(not that it's easy to obtain)while skills(besides con herblore...etc)take alot of time unless they are money based :o

I would wear a fire cape over most skill capes, the capes like runecrafting, agility, prayer, or construction warrant being worn.

If you are after the bonus, always wear fire cape over 99 cape unless you have trimmed 99 capes

I think it's a much bigger task to fight off hordes of monsters, leading up to a confrontation with a level 702 that can KO you in one hit just because of an accidental prayer switch (or lack of) as opposed to standing in one spot, withdrawing herbs and vials, mixing them, withdrawing seconds, mixing them, then repeating the process. (You can substitute any skill for the latter.) Maybe it's just because I don't have any skill capes but I do have a fire. Who knows.

Yes, but even the most moronic fighter can, with the right equipment, get a fire cape with less time and expense than most of the skill capes.

you can get a fire cape in a day or so(10 hours+)but it takes weeks...months....to get 99 of a skill.

Fire when trainign combat, 99 cape when skilling :P

for cool looks- fire cape, or slayer cape :thumbsup: , for bonuses - fire cape, for respect- slayer cape, agility cape, or runecrafting cape as they take the longest.

I just think that even in the two hours it takes to get a fire cape, you actually have a challenge. You have an incredibly hard task that even properly equipped can lead to death instantly. Whereas to get a skill cape, sure you have to spend more time, but even a moronic skiller can sit at a fire all day cooking sharks to get the cape. The only challenge is time - unless you're on your deathbed, you pretty much have all the time you need.

I can see where you're coming from. But again, as with the skill capes, there's no true challenge in the Legend's Quest (in my opinion). As long as you have prayer pots and protect from melee, you're safe from the demon. In the fight caves, you've got to continuously manipulate monsters for two hours and prayer switch to perfection for around 10 minutes. I just think that outweighs the skill capes.

I do think you and I underestimate the amount of "skill" involved in a 99 cape. Sure I can buy 99 in several stats - but the cash doesn't come from nowhere.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

I'll tell you straight up that it has taken lots of savvy for me to get as far as I have with skills, and not be totally broke. I have strategies for getting the best price and/or fastest/cheapest xp that didn't spring fully formed from Zeus' brow. Sure, it's a different kind of skill, but skill nonetheless.
