You make a good point, ddr.

I do think you and I underestimate the amount of "skill" involved in a 99 cape. Sure I can buy 99 in several stats - but the cash doesn't come from nowhere.

I'll tell you straight up that it has taken lots of savvy for me to get as far as I have with skills, and not be totally broke. I have strategies for getting the best price and/or fastest/cheapest xp that didn't spring fully formed from Zeus' brow. Sure, it's a different kind of skill, but skill nonetheless.

Personally, I think that supermerchants have the best skill of any in game, since theirs is actually usable outside of runescape.

Perhaps I do underesitmate it. As I said, I don't have any 99 skills. If I get 99 runecraft, I'm sure I would flaunt it for a while. But I'd go back to my fire.

Most of you here thinks skill capes rather means nothing much is because you can just take all the time in the world for it. Agility cape is easy because you can just do 10 laps at ape atoll a day and get 99 within XXX days.

What if you had a time limit for 99? Likewise when you are trying to get fire cape, you shouldn't dally too long as pots will run out. If you have a time limit for a 99 skill, would you be able to take the patience and determination for it?

Strangely with WotLK so near, I wished I could delay it a bit to push through that last TBC content in MH/BT :'(.

It's much easier, and cheaper for that matter to get 99 fletching that get a firecape, i'll tell ya that for free. < Ya gotta luv that! Aint ya.

just getting to it is hard you got lining up and your being under attack by all different kinds of attack.

360s + 90s drove me insane 360 + 180s were easy though

360 + 180 + 90s eh kinda same as 360 + 90s

Is mining cape that easy until its not even considered better than fire cape?

fire cape= skill

99= time

depends which you want to display

Id pick fire./

I'd choose 99 capes simply because I've basically worn my fire cape for 6 months straight. Change is good.

I'd pick most 99 Capes over a Fire cape any day. My opinion is that any skill cape besides Fletching and Cooking takes more perseverence then a Fire cape. Perseverence>Toughness

If a 47 can get a Fire cape, it's too easy.

I know fire is better than 99 in one way -

No pestering to do the emote.

I've been asked to do the fire cape emote. -.-

Not going to lie, I laughed in real life.

I took the one less traveled by,

And that has made all the difference.

99 cape if u want people to harrase u to show them your emote, lava cape if u want to look, stronger to newbs, well either one does that... id say 99, firemakin and prayer  are personal favorites..

Mining is the only cape I've never seen in-game.

Fire Cape because it gives more defense and also +5 strength, 99 cape is just like obby cape but has emotes, nothing that special..

It really depends on the 99 cape as many have already said. If it was something like fletching, cooking, or firemaking then I would definately wear the fire cape. But if it was something like prayer, herblore, farming, slayer, or construction then I would definately wear that cape. It really depends on wheter or not skill x can be just paid for basically or if it really takes time and effort to get 99.

i think everyone above me that have posted all have extremely good points. if u want looks go for a hard 99 cape ( slayer , runcrafting, etc) or the fire, but i think fire is better because 1. the stats are pretty cool 2. it shows u have alot of skill and 3. means u have the patience to fight things for 2+ hours and then kill a big kahuna. Some Skill cpaes like cooking fletching i see way too many of :S

Do u know what the Chain of Command is? it's the chain i'll go get and beat you with until you understand who is in command here

Everyone that has said "skill capes take more time than fire cape." you're forgetting about the time needed to get the levels needed to complete fight caves.

if it was a hard 99 to get i would wear the skill cape, but in most cases fire cape purely because of the bonuses

[iNSERT "I R EATIN TEH SHIX ATM" BILL COSBY SIGNATURE GIF HERE, LOL]

Skill cape, just because I can't make insanely large amounts of money and getting a 99 would really be an achievement

MY BEST ITEM IS A BRONSE COIN! I KILLED ZEZIMA AND HE DROPED IT!

I would think Fire cape because you still need to lvl up your combat stats enough to go fight it in the first place.

So in a sense it takes just as long if not longer to have the stats needed to get the Fire Cape or to lvl from 1-99

Ehh maybe not though, I guess I have no idea what I am talking about lmao.

fire cape. it offers more bonuses, and i like bonuses.

... :uhh:

So true...
