Where do you get your tech news?

We're all tech nerds and no one is ashamed to admit it. My question for you all is, where do you get your latest news on technology? I prefer The Inquirer, even though I've been told it can be fairly inaccurate. I also browse Engadget some but not very often.

So where do you all turn when you want to find out about new cool gadgets coming out?

The Inquirer is very much the tabloid of the tech news sites. Not above making stuff up. I use The Register mainly, the one which the guy who runs The Inquirer lost his job at. For extra stuff I use Slashdot IT and hardware sections.

I use Gizmodo for gadgetry news and Slashdot gaming for gaming news.

Some people are changed by being a moderator. I wouldn't be.

Either my PC gamer I get every month or I may hear it on The Armory, Which is my old FA clan I used to be in back in the day. (still stick around for the community, however. They moved onto BF2142 atm).

Or I might just hear it from somewhere else. usualy those two though.

The Inquirer is not just fairly innaccurate, on occassions that flat out make things up. It shouldn't be taken as news...More (un)educated guesses.

I actually go to many sites, pretty well every day. I normally start at http://firingsquad.com, which themselves have a decent mix of computer tech and game reviews, but they also have a lot of tech news listings from other sites. I then go to http://tomshardware.com, probably the best place for computer tech news and reviews. Then I check http://anandtech.com, and http://dailytech.com, the later of which is occassionally awesome having the first looks at things, but also kind of fails in some aspects. anandtech and dailytech are related, but anandtech has all the headlines from dailytech, so I just go there. Also tomshardware and tgdaily.com are also related, which is another one I occassionally look it. Dailytech is actually really good for news outside of computers, in other science and tech things.

Sometimes I also look at http://xbitlabs.com. It's alright, pretty good for benchmarks, but also quite slow with their reviews. Overall, firingsquad and tomshardware are the best places in my opinion.

As for tech from a game news/reviews perspective, I check IGN.com, Gamespot.com, and gamespy.com. Gamespot is best for news, gamespy is by far the best for reviews, and IGN does both well (though they review games too highly). I also occassionally check 1up.com, but they are more of theinquirer of games...Lot's of bad facts, bad, uninformed reviews...But also they have some interesting features and first looks which warrant a glance every few days.

Im not that big of a geek.

In the event that the weighted companion cube does speak, the Enrichment Center urges you to disregard its advice.

Technology news are most of the time pretty irrelevant, so I don't really frequent those sites. I do occassionally check slashdot.org though.

Sure, if that stuff interests you, but I do get kind of bored reading new system specs and clock speeds of a thousand gadgets and upcoming improvements to those gadgets.

If it's important, it will be on mainstream media as well, such as newspapers. And as said, you guys will post it anyways. 8-)

Is it just me or does The Inquirer look like a Register ripoff?

Ditto. Digg actually just links to other sites, they don't actually host any content. The users submit links, and then vote whether or not they make the front page. So you (normally) get the best articles out there.

Not really a big fan of Digg, mainly because of the whole freedom thing... after seeing some of the things that make it to the top....... freedom is baaaaaad! :P (That and the comments are horrible from what I've seen)

Yeah, sometimes bad things get dugg too much. That isn't all that bad, I just bury them and move on. The comments though, that system is horrible. It was good in theory but extremely bad in practice. People don't digg or bury based on how good the comment is, but on whether or not they agree with it. I hardly even comment anymore, it's pointless.
