Denis O'Leary - Life's gonna suck

No seriously, if you ignore the lyrics (which are quite funny actually), the song is very cheerful, sing along kind of tune. And you'll find yourself humming to yourself as you prance around joyfully 'Life's gonna suck when you grow up, it sucks pretty bad right noooow'.

Even more seriously, a song that's cute and cheerful is Joy to the world (not the carol). The one that goes: 'Jeremiah was a bullfrog, was a real good friend of mine/ Never understood a single word he said/ But I helped him drink his wine. Joy to the world, all the boys and girls/ Joy to the fishes in the deep blue sea, joy to you and me.' Can't tell you who sings it though. Except that it was sung in an episode of the X Files.

"Metal isn't about violence or faggy whiny lyrics. It isn't even about who plays the heaviest and fastest. It is about invoking a sense of wonder and magnitude that no other genre can depict."

I am seeing them in May. Saxon, that is. I just... uh, need to get the tickets.

OT: I think Eric Johnson's "Cliffs Of Dover" is upbeat as hell. I should perhaps mention that it is an instrumental song. Great tune though.

Haha.. well compared to some of the Lyrics of All Shall Perish, Arch Enemy, and Cannible Corpse; that's pretty upbeat for me. ::'

I wasn't basing it off the lyrics, more of the guitar and the overal sound of them.

EDIT: I find it funny you pointed out those songs, yet you never said anything about Lil Bloodred Ridin' Hood:

"I'll kill it for you. I hate you and I want you dead! I'll kill you! Show me the signs of your silence In the race of corpse alone. Take me down, oh please can I feel you? My lil' blooded ridin' hood "

Any reggae will do the trick. It may seem a little weird at first since everyone is used to rock or rap, but once you get over the initial shock of its difference, you will find it is one of the best genres out there. and the happiest.

So, throw down some Bob Marley, I think some guy earlier recomended 'Cheer Up', which is a great song, but kinda a deep cut. I would start your friend off with something like 'No Woman No Cry', or 'Get Up Stand Up', or 'Jammin'. Very good songs. and very good at healing depression.

All Star - Smash Mouth

I'm a Beleiver - The Monkees

Perfect 10 - The Beautiful South

Don't Stop Me Now, Bohemian Rhapsody, Tie Your Mother Down - Queen

Back by popular demand!

And I guess I just wanted to tell you, as the light starts to fade, that you aree the reason, that I am not afraid, and I guess I just wanted to mention, as the heavens will fall, that we will be together soon if we will be anything at all.

It Ain't Me Babe - Walk the Line OST.

Go awaay from my window, Leave at your own chosen speed, I'm not the one you want, babe, I'm not the one you need...

Yup, cheery! ;]

Just kidding, sort of, cause the song does have an upbeat rhythm and such.

Anyway this reminded me of another song I find upbeat and cheerful, you guessed it, Walk the Line, by Johnny Cash. And also I really like the lyrics and mood of the song 'Time's a wasting'.
