BlueLancer
I don't actually know many italian tip.it'ers besides Silv. One good player/poster from Italy was 'Greenminer' but he quit posting a long time ago. I'm quite sure there are hundreds of them though, just not that active... RS has millions of players, I'd say at least a few hundred/thousand come from each EU country.

blue107
Blue pretty much nailed it, it was originally an in game company that was composed of the best smithers/miners at the time and they created forums to sell things and it ended up becoming a very successful place to chat There have been quite a few versions of the forums, I joined during the original DK3 forums(black and blue), I am not sure what was before that though. They switched from black & blue forums and upgraded to the newest because black & blue didnt have flood control and people could just spam it up. 485th person to ever play RuneScapeBlue107- perm banned 10/12/2007. $300 USD reward if you can get me in contact with someone who will take 5 seconds to look at evidence and get my original character unbanned. cadburys_egg
I seem to remember that tip.it had other guides besides Runescape. I think it was Diablo (?) and something else. I find it quite amusing that I joined a day before a lot of the older veterans, I was never around in Scapeboard or with DK3. When I first started posting I heard everyone "DK3 this" and "DK3 that", I thought they were talking about a game. :? Strange that I had never noticed the Tip.It either, I just thought it was a TLD to avoid being filtered in-game. :P

____
Dark Age of Camelot and Asheron's Call.Yep, indy be correct. The tip.it index had a hot-spot image which would take you to the respective game. And eventually runescape won over all of them.
assassin_696
Wow, I wasn't around for any of this. Scapeboard is a complete myth to me, I hear it now and again but it's all very mysterious. speedofsound
Wow, I wasn't around for any of this. Scapeboard is a complete myth to me, I hear it now and again but it's all very mysterious. Same! Man now I'm all curiouse :( I wonder if it was any better then this. You can't ever find a place that's nice and peaceful, because there isn't any. You may think there is, but once you get there, when you're not looking, somebody'll sneak up and write "(bleep) you" right under your nose. Try it sometime. I think, even, if I ever die, and they stick me in a cemetery, and I have a tombstone and all, it'll say "Holden Caulfield" on it, and then what year I was born and what year I died, and then right under that it'll say "(bleep) you." Man now I'm all curiouse :( I wonder if it was any better then this. At its peak it was one of the best forums ever, I was lucky enough to be active through the entire time period of it and it was great. Everyone knew eachother and mods werent as strict as they were now because the mods were actually peoples friends and it was a better atmosphere There are some down sides of being apart of those old, lost forums. Pretty much everyone I knew and cared for is gone now and there is a new way of things and I dont really fit in Ask anyone and they will tell you that scapeboard was an amazing period Who's the oldest who still posts regularily? Not like some of the old mods or admins who just lock things >_> I consider myself to be active, I think im like the 80th person to join, people who joined Jun 18th, 2004 can be considered the active posters at the time because they were the first ones notified of tip.it being reopened. They didnt actually put it on their website and email a ton of people about it until Jun 19th 485th person to ever play RuneScapeBlue107- perm banned 10/12/2007. $300 USD reward if you can get me in contact with someone who will take 5 seconds to look at evidence and get my original character unbanned. nik
There are a large number of people who used to post on scapeboard, and didnt even sign up on forum.tip.it Also a number of people registered under differnt names. I remember when scapeboard went down because of dk3, they where a free forum service. We where their main form of income, they had a large number of ads and often where down or laggy. Finally when we were sick of it we asked for the database and they would not give us it, or offered to sell it. They also took our old domain, scapeboard.com and put it on the market to be bought for $500. After a little bit of timethe forum got started up again and many people rushed to join back again, and thats how forum.tip.it came, I think it was/is hosted off of RaenonD (sp?) sever. Somewhat around this same time I remember the tip.it #runescape chat being flooded and attacked by a number of people (it might not have been at the same time) We resorted to closing the chat, although a number of us chatters where included in newp's secret channel, and eventually the chat got re-opened once again, I belive on another server (chat-addict) So there is how the modern forum came to be from scapeboard.
