Old people leave their blinkers on

Featured Replies

I was driving with my grandpa and we had just turned and were going down a straight road. I noticed that the turn signal was still on but I didn't want to mention it to my grandpa cause he would feel old. So we drove like that for around 5 mins with cars behind us.

That's nice.

What do you want us to say exactly?

Sorry for sounding harsh, But.. Yeah.

The best things are left unsaid, just absorb the story and move on.

When survival is in question, anything goes.

You should have just told him. I know people my age who leave the blinker on. Sometimes the road noise blocks out the "tinker" of the signal, and our eyes are on the road. It's not just the elderly who make this mistake.

And that is considerably better than someone who switches lanes without blinkers.

Well that is proablly true considering my cousin related how his dad (not that old) has done the same thing before.

But it was just so cliche/sterotypical when my grandpa did it, I had to share.

When survival is in question, anything goes.

Aww...bless him...poor old bugger.

Although I did the same thing once. Was so embarrassed. Since then I've always made a conscious effort the make sure they're off. On the downside, I'm becoming a bit obsessive about it now.

I see a lot of older people leave them on when they change lanes on the expressway. I used to find it annoying, but not anymore. There are much worse things to get annoyed about while driving.

/The left lane is the fast lane, if you aren't going fast get the hell out of the way.

If you turn your wheel left / right and back again, then it will yes, but if your changing lanes it won't.

Heh, I don't have this problem, for two reasons. One, I'm 12. Two, when I drive, I drive go-karts on a track. O:)

My Farewell thread. Please post nicely, or die. :^_^:

Yea, I'd vote for him too. But I don't think they let Iraqis vote :P

Lol when you said blinkers, I imagined those things you put on horses to make sure they only look ahead and don't get distracted. You know what I'm talking about right..?!

SHH HUT YUH MUH. DERKHED.

I don't think it's fair of you to immediately blame it on the fact that he's old. My mum does it sometimes... and you should have told him, it could have been a safety issue.

Reminds me... I was going to work yesterday morning - car in front of us had it's indicator on for the better part of 10 minutes. And, I swear they didn't notice; because when they changed lanes - it went off. And when they "turned it off" it came on again.

I'm thinking their wheel alignment is out some :-s

blinders? haha

and yeah ive left it on before..cause sometimes after you turn they wont shut off and i dont really pay attention to it.

and old people drive in the left lane so that they can see the left line and know theyre in their lane...dotted lines are much harder to see and yellow is easier to see than white

The title is a bit stereotypical, but I'll look past that..

The other day, this person was in front of me who had their blinker on whenever they didn't turn. It was on while we were going straight, it was on while we were at a stoplight, and they finally decided to turn it off moments before they made their turn - nearly 5-10 minutes after turning it on in the first place..

thats family guy for ya but on topic. i dont think its because he's old. i think he just forgot. he might have been in deep thoughts, but you should have told him

I really hate it when anybody leaves their turn signal on when they're not going to turn. I put a decent bit of faith in others when I'm driving, unlike my parents. My parents wait for the person to commit to the turn, I rather wait for them to hit the brakes. Then I trust them that they're turning and go.

As they say Old people and Asians are the worst drivers around.

:| All my asian friends and I are great drivers.

I find old women bad drivers.

Actually, I find teenage girls and soccer moms bad drivers as well. So I guess that means all female species.

^That's just a broad statement and I'm sure all the girls on this board are great drivers  *cough*

I was being stereotypical as well. But its a proven fact that Asians are bad drivers, because they suffer so badly from tunnel vision. Come over to Sydney, Australia and you'll know what I mean.

But that's not to say that their our some good Asian Drivers out there (and old people).

Oh, I hate that. Especially on highways. That happened to me alot on a highway near Detroit at night. Detroit people are crazy drivers. :ohnoes:
