Guest
Nice job at spelling my name right MyBlueCrayon. Oh man, that's so funny Vickie! BLUE! I get it! Cause my name is MyPurpleCrayon! And blue is also a color! AHAHAHAHAHA. Hahaha, Nice...
issy2
I normally look at the author of the poster, because I try to stay away from our obnoxious users like Issy and Vickie. But if the title really intrigues me, then I'll open it up. I tend to stay away from people like MyPurpleCrayon, he will flame for the most stupidiest reasons. Actually... I think I would agree with MPC on that one. :) But, seriously... I don't reeally mind who the author is. I find it hard to ignore posts that annoy me, as you guys probably know. It's more the topic title that interests me, I suppose... not the author doesn't matter at all...

Azvareth
Why do I feel like I am back at elementary school again?... Anyway, I look at the author first, as I tend to give topic's whose author is either someone I know and/or someone whom I find interesting priority. Usually regardless of the title, since they usually have something interesting to say. I then read the topics that catch my attention. As for the grammar and spelling bit. Grammar, I don't mind so much... since I know my own can be very bad at times. Spelling however, and especially punctuation, is something I'm a bit of a "nazi" about. English isn't my native language, so I find sentences that are spelled very poorly, or without proper punctuation very hard to understand sometimes. Consequently, I tend to just skim through them, or simply skip those posts.

Gin_and_Tonic
I tend to look at the Author. For example, Swampjedi is my idol in the Rants forum. Hes intelligent, writes well, and has logical rants, with well backed-up ideas. As im quite new to off-topic, i tend to read the title, unless a well know name is the author from else-where. For example, not being rude, i did'nt read this thread for about a day after it was posted, because i was unaware of the authors name. (told you i was new  ) But eventually when i saw more posts i read it, and understood it... Logically written. If i see 'Sports' related or Games related topics, i'd read regardless, but then i dont always post if they're like the other 1000 topics of sport already on this board... In conclusion, i'd say im both. I try to keep a conversation or thread going with a legit response, if thats not possible, i tend to refrain from posting. Yeah well, I don't actually mind insults, as long as they're fair and not regarding my age, gender, or appearance. Or just generally stupid. jemathonical
I usually look to see who the topic starter is. If it is some one who generally knows what their talking about, I'll read it. But if it's some one who just joined today or has low posts I stay away from because usually it's crap example: If its anything from dudet, i wont open it ^Sir Jem 05-The Bunny Drinking Blog?^ Click it! Devilsdragon
I start by browsing the topic titles, and if I feel that I might want to open it but might not then I'll look at the starter.
Militaris
I choose to read a topic because of the title, I generally take little notice of the author. The main reason being that even a badly written first post can be turned into a decent discussion by other users. One thing which does annoy me is when people post on a topic but only bother reading the first post and the conversation has moved on greatly since then. One thing which does annoy me is when people post on a topic but only bother reading the first post and the conversation has moved on greatly since then. That doesn't bother me so much, as when the conversation does move on, it generally happens between only a few people, so if someone only recently comes to view the thread and posts their opinion due to the first post, why shouldn't they? I often don't read the whole topic if there are many pages to it, just because people repeat each other. If there is intelligent discussion, I may read a lot more, but it depends. I do, however, agree with the point you made on the fact that a bad topic start can lead to a good discussion, as I have witnessed this happen. SHH HUT YUH MUH. DERKHED.
