Viktorkrum77
This post is nothing like the other one. I want to ask 2 question. The first is, have you ever visited the World Trade Center complex in NYC or Ground Zero? Or do you live in or near NYC? What was it like watching the buildings fall, were you constantly flashing back to thoughts of when you visited? The second is, did you know anyone working in the World Trade Center complex, or visiting, or who worked in the immediate surrounding buildings? Either directly, or indirectly. Long story, feel free to skip if you'd like. I have never visited the complex, but I do indirectly know someone who died in the North Tower. 2 years ago I met someone online whom I trust (talk to her alot), (even though there is possibility she made all this up to me, but I think I can trust her). Anyways, her uncle worked for Marsh USA, an insurance company of some sort that had offices directly in the impact zone of the North Tower, floors 100-93, 99-93 of which were the impact floors. He worked on 95. Well, according to her, he went to work that day, and never returned. The last time his loved ones (wife, and two daughters age 10 and 7 at the time) heard from him was around 8:00 when he left a message, while his wife had taken the kids to school, about his wife needing to go out and get something for dinner. They never heard from him after that, and he died from either the impact or fire, I'm not sure. Still, even though it is an indirect account (and could even be made up, though I hope not). It is still pretty sad. Anyways, enough of my blah blah blah lol. *Edit* You could also explain where you were on 9/11, and what you were doing. Me doing staff. Errdoth
One of my cousins that I've never met before worked there, but she was on vacation in the bahamas when it happened. But I've got cousins everywhere, we were up at a hotel in toronto, and the manager was a cousin, we rented a car, another cousin, but that's beside the point, anyways, no, no one I know was hurt during 9/11 Last.fm Signature Overlays

unknownmasterofnothing
I used to go there to get to the path train to get to new jersey. Also there were a few events there I went to and sometimes went there to just hang out. I live in New York city. When the buildings went down, don't know. It was just a massive building taken down like that. It was unbelievable. One of my classmate's dad worked in the world trade center. He worked in the first building hit and almost exactly where the plane hit on the top floors. But he survived because he ran down the stairs really fast. One of my friends said there was no chance he could survive if he was that close to the plane. Which was kinda mean.
Blue_Eggz
I remember this like it was yesterday Infact, I live in NYC but far from the WTC I was walking to school with my dad and I looked up and saw a plane. I said "Dad, that plane is flying awfully low" He looked up and said "Yeah, it is" A few moments later, I look back up and there's a HUGE ball of smoke, gas, fire, ashes, etc. I'm like "Dad...Look..." I never thought it was so scary I thought it was just an accident lol
assassin_696
I remember coming back from a swimming lesson with my parents telling me what had happened. I was quite young at the time so I didn't know what the WTC buildings were. I just imagined a light aircraft accidentally flying into an office block. It was only when I got home and saw the news on TV I realised the extent of it. I've since visited ground zero. A lot of people commented on how moving it was for them. I didn't find this at all. Perhaps if i'd been before and seen the WTC buildings standing there, but to me it just looked like a building site. yomom1919
I live in NJ. My dad was inspecting some houses on the waterfront as his job (in Nj), and he looked across the lake and saw lots of smoke coming from the Buildings, turned on the radio and heard about it. As for me I was in school, and my principal came in and said "a small plane has flown into the wtc by accident"(That was the assumption at the time, we didnt really have a major terrorist event in a decade. (not counting school shootings). After the development on the story, he came in and corrected himself. Alot of my friends parents worked there and they were all worried, and I was worried for them. It was a very fearful day until school let out. We learned the next day that, fortunatelly, no ones parents passed away. My friends mom was just exiting the building at the buildings last moments. Her collagues shouted to her not to turn around, but she did. She saw some really grusome stuff, including body parts strewn on the ground (she told my mom this and then my mom told me). Another of my friends parents came took off that day because she had to go shopping and stuff. Talk about luck...
dangeresque
I first heard of it in the middle of school, was in 3rd grade at the time, and the principal just said it over the intercom. I didn't really understand what the significance of it back then...any ways, in 6th grade we went on a feild trip to NYC to see phantom of the opera on broadway and while we were there we drove past ground 0...but it really wasn't much then...i think they had a path going through it but thats it
aaron1120
I have never visited either of the towers. I remember I was in 4th or 5th grade, and I was in art class, my teacher was called down to the office and came back into our room very upset. She said there was an attack in NYC, but thought it would be better if we heard the rest from our parents. < | Runehead | Learning Java Programming, Please PM Me Tips | Signature by Loaf2000 | >
timmay929
I live right across the bay from NYC. I remember my mom picked me up early from school. We went to the beach to look across the water and saw nothing but black smoke. I was shocked. I remember going home and watching the news and the video clips of the planes crashing into WTC. I was in 5th grade. I remember the principal kept coming into our room to talk to the teacher, then finally the teacher sat us down and told us. One kid started crying because his mom worked down the street from them. A bunch of F16 jets kept flying over my house. It was the scariest day of my life. 122 Combat : 99 Hits : 99 Attack : 99 Strength97/99 Defence : 99 Fletching : 99 Woodcutting

deloriagod
I was in 5th grade when it happened. Someone mentioned it at school and the school was going to close for the day because it's near Rockwell Collins in Cedar Rapids and they were afraid terrorists were going to target that or the nuclear powerplant not far from here (if they hit that none of us in my area would be alive). Forunately they didn't attack anything around here but I remember watching the towers fall again and again on tv all night.. warri0r45
I remember the day pretty well, come to think of it. I was in grade 7 and I woke up to go to school. After I came out to the lounge room after having a shower, etc, my brother explianed that one plane had hit a building in new york. Minutes later I saw a replay on the TV and was shocked to say the least. Then we saw the second plane hit, which made more feelings arise. So then I went off to school and all my frinds were like 'did you see it?' etc. We had this teacher who liked to talk about off topic things alot so we basically rejected lesson plans and talked about it. When I got home, I remember the extensive coverage; so much so that I have never seen anything covered in the media as much still to this day. irulepoker
I visited the towers, twice. First time I went to 3rd floor, Mom was having a meeting and I had to go with her. Second time, we went to 60th or so floor. Another meeting. We knew many people that were killed ; atleast 10. Not well, but knew them. One of the people that worked in the building, my mom had just started to do busisness with, and they were on the 102nd floor. He never made it out of the tower, and got stuck in it when it collapsed. He was on the phone with his family when it collapsed, and they heard him die. I thought that would be really weird, to hear your father die over the phone. It would make you feel so, so... helpless... My Farewell thread. Please post nicely, or die. :^_^:Yea, I'd vote for him too. But I don't think they let Iraqis vote :P

trapical
I remember it as it was yesterday as the saying goes. We were sharing current events in 1st hour history class (ironically). When someone who arrived late mentioned they heard there was a blast or something in New York, none of us thought twice of it. Suddenly we heard a yell from the room next to us and 30 seconds later our door was literally kicked open by the teacher from the next room; without explanation he just yelled "Turn on the TV, NOW! Were under attack!" This about 45 seconds after the second plane hit and people just realized what was going on. We watched TV for the next 20 minutes until classes changed. The hallways were abuzz with rumors and then we all got to 2nd hour were we all just kind of stood around for a bit with no one taking attendence. The P.A. turned on and the principal spoke in a grave tone "As many of you now know, the United States is under attack. New York city is getting hit... the Pentagon has been destroyed... please stay calm" Not many of my classmates knew what the Pentagon was (it was 9th grade) so everyone was just exchanging confused looks and then several of them looked and my and my bud: they knew we were both into military stuff. I looked at him and he nodded slowly and broke the silence "...We're going to war"
mad4u689
I live about an hour (20 miles) out of Manhattan, so I'd been to the World Trade Center quite a lot. We'd often take the PATH train to the WTC - that was a good way of getting into the city, if we didn't want to drive. On 9/11, my mom and brother were actually going to take the PATH train to to the World Trade Center after school, to go to the dentist. As it turned out, that was impossible, clearly. A lot of parents of students worked either in the World Trade Center, or in the area. The father in this family of kids I was babysitting for, worked there. He got out, but wasn't able to get out of the city and home for a couple of days, I believe. The whole family is just.. they're really great people. And he's so young... When they first told us the news over the loudspeaker in 3rd period, it didn't really sink in. And then, over the course of the day, we just wound up watching the TV screen in all of our classes, and the weight of what had happened sank in - except for math. In math, our teacher's husband worked near the World Trade Center, and she hadn't heard from him, and she taught the class anyway, because she couldn't bear to watch the TV. No one learned much math that class, but I guess she needed it. All day, people were just walking through the halls, many crying, many frantically trying to call and make sure people were okay. Some students left early. I remember just feeling kind of numb, alternately wondering if I should feel more, and feeling. Everybody hug and spread the love :D
Sir_Alex85
I remember that day. My dad was on a business trip in America, and my mom was scared because he may not be able to get back over the border. So she rounded up me and my siblings from our schools and brought us home. I was in music class, grade 4, when she came and got me. It really has
Nadril
I remember watching it on TV in school. When I saw it I had no idea what was going on (it was just on the TV, they didn't explain yet) so I thought that it was something done on a computer, and not actualy happening. It took a bit to settle in what was actualy going on.
Foooman
I was in my eigth grade English class when there was an announcement for all teachers to turn on the television. Then, we all were in for a shock. It seemed like a movie to me, stuff like this doesn't happen. Took me a couple hours for it to settle in.
