Lunar Eclipse tonight (9.30 PM GMT)

Featured Replies

Tonight at 9.30 PM GMT, the earth shall move directly between the moon and the sun, causing a full lunar eclipse that'll be visible in most of Europe. The moon will be fully eclipsed at 10.45 PM, and will remain fully eclipsed for approximately one hour and fifteen minutes.

A friend to all is a friend to none.

OMG!

It's too cloudy here in Ohio, this really makes me angry. I really wanted to see this lunar eclipse...

t3hshabster.png

Argh, would be taking pictures of it (I'll be able to see it just before its in the middle of its eclipse), but my mom took the 300mm lens >.o

TAKE PICTURES. :P

I can't see it...I live in Minnesota, and when I look, all I can see is that the sun is WAY brighter than usual (I'm still seeing spots 10 mins later :P)...Can't see the moon.

The popularity of any given religion today depends on the victories of the wars they fought in the past.

Well, the whole thing about lunar eclipses is that the earth gets between the sun and the moon :P

Therefore: Don't look at the sun.

Bah i got a few good shots of the moon while it was bright but i must have knocked the focus slightly and most of the pics when it was red were too blurry to really see anything.

had to change settings then cus it was getting too dark to capture the moon. Unfortunatly it ended up being slightly out of focus and it was too dark to reallt correct it with such a basic lens

Pfft, those pics are far better than my attempts taken on a weakish digital camera. :(

I was actually observing this eclipse for astronomy coursework, and luckily had a great view from the window above my desk, could see the entire thing whilst making notes and drawing diagrams.

It was good, but not as red as it appeared in merc's photos, even through my binoculars. I'd have said a 2, maybe 3 on the danjon scale.

I'll keep watching until it's completely moved out of the umbral region.

"Da mihi castitatem et continentam, sed noli modo"

Well, I only caught it as it was coming out of the total eclipse (about half out when I was able to run outside waving my camera in the air :) )

I'll get some pictures up within the hour...
