In terms of adding extra features ourselves. Absolutely that is something we are looking to do. It takes us a little while because unlike some 3rd party authors who don't seem to care what bad side-effects are caused, we also have to think about the consequences!, but we're confident we can get something even better up and running.

I think they should have already had it ready when they made this rule. It seems like they arnt prepared then to their customer base. It would have been a better business decision to already have it in place as a replacement when they changed the rules.

And while they wait for it, continue to lose thousands of dollars a day?

Andrew's top priority is the creation of a new Runescape client. As he said, in order to make it work perfectly, he is going to need time. Runescript is a difficult language to change.

Explains why my bookmarked world 2 isn't working... really nice on ejagex
Thats good, now people cant get an advantage over me by going directly to W2 while I have to keep refreshing the page

Using 'favourites' or 'bookmarks' in your browser is not against the rules. It might stop working at some point in the future due to some planned site redesign, but it's not actually against the rules.

Does that include accessing the file from your desktop? I made an icon to world 1 and 2 using notepad.

And while we wait for it, have to play on a sub-par designed method of accessing the game?

Their first priority is to their paying customers. SS isnt loosing them any money, its the signitures that are using their bandwidth. They are two different subjects. Its obvioius that this bandwidth problem has been on their minds for a while. However, the new client hasn't. I'm sure its taking a long time to make a good one, however, an official runescape client should have been out a very long time ago.

[bleep]ex is always finding ways to makes runescape less pleasurable...

JAGEX always try to find ways to make RuneScape more pleasureable. If you don't like the game then quit. They're just trying to make it safer for us. :o

*Sees Andrew with a spade*

Hev: What are you doing?

Andrew: I'm barrowing!

H: But this is isn't Morytania...

A: Oh sure it is! See, there are still six mounds.

H: Oh rly.

A: Sure, see there's the 6 brothers, and they're all dead or dying, I never know which. Their names are Dynamic Sigs, SwiftSwitch, Metis, Jagex's Credibility to Players (I call him JCP for short.), and of course there's Good Rule Editing.

H: But that's 5..

A: Oh, and Player/Fan Base. I'm alienating him though.

H: -.-

As Coandca put it so well, nice one Jagex. Threw your fan base farther away yet again. You're dying and you don't even realise it..

Ive copied that and posted on RS forums and given credit to a user on a fan-site. Didnt want to use your name unless you post on forums and claim it.

only game that they make stupid rules for, there should be no rules for what u use to play thats why runescape is still considered one of the more messed up games in the mmorpg genre.

its just messed up tbh

OMG... No dynamic sigs!!!! JAGeX are becoming an extremely less user-friendly company :wall: . But i guess its for the best because they care about money more than anything else. And NO CALCULATORS!!!! NO FAIR!

Im sure this has already been said, but I suppose I will recap:

Jagex is user friends, reason they made this rule is because every time someone would look at a page on here (or elsewhere) that had a poster with the Dynamic stats, it drew bandwidth from the runescape website. What the rule says that you can still have thoes dynamic stats, but you must update them yourself (IF YOU ARE REALLY WORRIED ABOUT PEOPLE SEEING YOUR STATS, THEN I THINK YOU CAN TAKE THE FEW SECONDS TO CLICK A BUTTON!).

He also stated that stat look ups like the stat calcs on Tip.It was fine because it only took bandwidth when someone put their name in, not every time someone looked on a page with someone (and many times multiple people) with the dynamic stats.

This to me seems fair, It will promote faster loading and less lag on the servers that we play the game on (which is the reason we're even on this website anyways right?)

My 2 cents

And their only problem with Swift is the world changer and bypasses the world-select screen. That's an unfair advantage (being able to get into worlds that people without Swift can't) and has always been illegal per their rules.

You could never get into a full world with Swift. What it did do was keep retrying for you so that as soon as the world was no longer full, you could get in. When they changed Rule 7 a couple of months ago, Swift was updated so that it didn't automatically re-try for you. It did however offer you an option of watching the world for you and letting you know when it was open.

While I can see there's a bandwidth issue with the dynamic sigs-- if only because there are so many of them -- there are ways to provide that data through a feed which would not be so expensive for Jagex.

I understand why they want to block the dynamic sig sites, but i think it's a dis to programmers saying their programs are bad programmed. How hte hell do they know how the program is coded other that reading their hits stats to tell when the sig site makes request. If they really don't want dynamic sig sites to be able to read their stats then why don't they make it harder to do, which they will do i'm sure.

But I think it's ridiculous to ban fast world switching to just because some fan site has a poll , where the choice to use fast world switching isn't even an option, and say well the users don't really care about the fast world switch option so we'll ban it. That makes no sense. The only reason for Jagex to justify banning fast world switching because it causes less view of ads. It sure as hell don't cause more bandwidth problems.

And saying stuff like a program that monitors to check if a world is open is causing bandwidth problems, then why don't you allow the program to get the login page whenever the user request it , because the worlds like that are always busy anyway.

I think Andrew is just on power trip.

No it doesn't... You're the first person who posted on one of these threads that knows how to use notepad... Congratz, want free pixels?
