Day 10

The tenth day. If you are reading this, I am officially 20 years old, born on June 16th, 1987. It is strange to think that I am no longer a teenager :| That was a crucial point of this series, to bring up some thought provoking arguments in my last days before I leave the infamous ÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâ¦Ã¢â¬Åteenager social classÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬ÃâÃ

Wow man that made me realise so much. I read every single words and I totally agree, your post inspired me to do something usefull for the world and you know it's just an amzing eye opener. I hope you achieve your degree but i'd balance my life out- 50 % studying and 50% parting and girls and stuff.

I just finished reading it trapical and its very well written. I honestly think that the bigest thing for getting a job is getting one you enjoy. Like you said after a while money will become meaningless. After you hit a certain mark there is only so much you can buy, but nothing can buy you a job that you enjoy and are going to spend the vast majority of your life doing.

I'm going to school to become a graphic designer for what I love : video games. I want to learn some more programing on the way and really I wouldn't mind some day starting up my own small company. (The degree I have also is going to be a minor in buisness).

Yeah it probably wouldn't bring in as much money but still... as long as I have enough cash to eat well, have a good place to live and can fuel my hobby (PC's and gaming) I won't need much after that. Having a job that I would love far outweighs other options.

Jeeze, you're like the two years ahead of me version of myself. Like everything you said applies exactly to me. Even the family part. I'm going into college next year and I'm having the hardest time deciding if I want to go into medicine or not. Being 'the smart guy,' (yeah, I get that label too, and I never know how to take it), I kind of feel like that's just my calling. Climb to the peak. Be a doctor. But like you said, and an issue I've spent hours thinking over, you basically miss a social life you would have had during your 20's, your prime (I'm really hoping it's not as extreme as they say it is). Every time I question if I want to do it, I come to that same conclusion, that I'm helping people and make a difference as opposed to a business major who's just out there to make money. I still haven't decided, but I did thoroughly enjoy reading this. Thank you for taking the time to write all of these threads.

You've really hit alot of emotional levels there. Your revelations are very well-thought and quite true. Most of us won't be remembered, when we pass away. You've made me think also of what my future career holdso n impacting another human. I think comptuer engineering will be helping you in africa. :wink:

Though I didn't respond to many of your threads, I thought you made some excellent points throughout. I'm sorry to see it over, but it ends on an up note I guess - happy birthday :)

These revelations are indeed important ones, and I wholeheartedly agree with most of what you've said. Sadly, my father is like yours (though not quite to that extent), and I must say that it has made me feel the need to be generous. Not a guilty need, more of a hope that I will be able to be generous, I'm really not sure how to describe it.

To quite suddenly change topics to another of your revelations, I would have to agree that age is meaningless. Having grown up mostly around adults, I've definitely come to see age as just a number.

I would write more (and it would be far more coherent) if I were particularly awake, but I feel ready to collapse into bed. Good luck on the MCAT :)

I've really enjoyed these posts over the past 10 days Trapical. I'm going into a field that I will enjoy hopefully, bring me prestige and money, but I've been wondering why waste another 12 Years of my life in school? When I could possibly go professional in baseball? (I've got a full scholarship to Virginia.) And I found the reason is that, Baseball isn't what I wish to pursue, but helping children and then becoming a lawyer.

But then I sat and did some soul searching and I found the awsner. I'm going to school for 4 years directly after High School to get an education degree. After which, I will continue my schooling into Law to get a law degree and eventually take the BAR and start my own Law Firm.

These posts are somewhat eye opening, and may make people think alot. They've made me think about some things. P.S. I'm donating $300 to Malaria in the coming weeks.

So thanks Trapical for providing entertaining yet meaningful posts.

Trapical in the ending you said the thread might be lost. But ive made saved a copy of each of these threads and plan on as many people that i know to be able to read these.

Very interesting read, and I myself have thought about some of these topics while sitting at my desk in school, especially the idea that many people, like bookworms, work hard all their life when in the end they will just die and it will be meaningless.

Early this year when school began I made a personal philosophy, and that, in my mind, I would rather die a poverse man who is happy doing what he wants, rather than a man working, doing something he doesn't enjoy but for a good sum of money.

this topic has me thinking a lot at the moment, and I cant come to respond to it all... I salute you for that, and thank you for the past 10 days of threads, although I didn't read all of them, the ones that peaked my interest and did read got me thinking.

That really makes you wonder about life :-k . Behind everything we do, the jobs we get, the partners we have, it's always important to step back and look at the purpose.

Great threads dude, very eye opening :P . You're got the mind and work ethic of.... damnit, someone drop me a good analogy. You're done an insane job, ya.

also, a random question if anyone can answer it...

it kind of goes along with this topic, on the subject of schooling.

If a person from the U.S. wants to go to college, say in the UK or Europe, or someplace else, how would they go about doing so? and what would benefits and cons be of doing it?

Toward your first revelation, I completly agree, age indeed is meaningless, even if someone younger than you is not as wise or knowledgable, they have the time to become that way, they are the potential for the future, and those older than you, they more than likely hold wisdom or knowledge that you do not yet know, so teach the youth, and open an ear to your elders, and your future will be great.

Towards your second revelation, all people make mistakes, that does not mean they arn't intelligent by any means, in fact you can probably learn more from those who have made mistakes in the past than you can from those who haven't, those who haven't made mistakes may be more knowledgable than those who have, but, those who have made mistakes are likely to have gained wisdom from them.

Do not look down on those who make mistakes, because if you do you are more likely to repeat them, we are all only human, we have the same potential for glory and we have the same potential for failure, its all up to the path you choose.

That's probably the most insightful post i've ever read, i'll reread it and add some comments a bit later.

Also, you should print of your threads and give it to your parents to read and see what they make of it as they sound like they need a few lessons from you.

I had something to reply with but I dunno really. I'm pointed in a rather off direction to most people. Even the rich suits which I know I'll eventually end up a part of. I'm too negative about it all. Then there's you who see's something that needs to be done and does it without much complaint.

But a few last choice words - not all the fine ladies will be gone by 30.

Ultimately while looks still matter - if they're still looking good at 30 that's a good sign that you didn't trap yourself into a teen-hottie only ;) I trust you have seen it before. Females who look good all through their youth then get smacked hard not long before their early 30's.

I just read the other topics yesterday, and was really looking foward to this one. All of them were incredibly insightful and thought provoking and really put things in perspective. Not sure what else to write though, it's so incredible. :o Well, good luck on the MCAT, happy birthday, and I hope you get to make an incredible impact in Africa.

Well, that was quite a read. I love your outlook on life, and hope you do well in all endeavors. You are SO right about work and money, it isn't really worth it unless you're enjoying it, and money can become pointless after a point. Remember, if you ever have some interesting stories and need an audience, we're always here. :)

But in truth, people will respond to this thread with gusto for a few days, but like all other threads it will eventually sink to the second and third page, and then disappear forever. I think in the end though, all the hours I spent tolling away at my keyboard will have paid off if I had influenced just one person to forever look at a part of their life differently.

I think all ten of these should be Archived here tbh, this was an unforgettable series. Thanks Trapical, you have changed the way I look at a lot of things in the past 10 days.
