improved archer animation/form

i remember some time ago that i started a thread on archer form in which i explained and show example pictures. i can't seem to find that old thread, so i'll start a new one.

recently the minning animation was changed to be more realistic (i guess). so i thought to myself, why not make a more realistic archer animation? so here it is! just think, your runescape character could shoot like this. instead of that lame what ever you call it animation. ( i would call it " way worse than i've ever seen a new shooter try and do" animation)

yeah its just a gif. nothing fancy about it.

what i wanted to point out here mainly was the form. instead of me trying to explain it, i will post a link that has the info if you are interested. well i'll stop talking, you can take a look for yourself

that's very good, and much better than most of the other threads on here. i think it is a bit harder than that, though, as the animation needs to take into account longbows and composite bows. admittedly, it would only take a tiny bit of tweaking to change what you have there to make it work for any bow. well done for taking the time to come up with an alternative. right now, i'm going to go and shoot some arrows to compare the two.

composite bows

bah, be a man, take the training wheels off. :)

yes, well, i know i will get much more out of runescape if an animation like this was used.

escuse me, but i've seen this fiddle emoticon a few time now and i've been dying to use it. so here it is for no reason :boohoo: :boohoo: :boohoo: :boohoo: :boohoo: :boohoo:

ty, back on topic now.

That is a really good animation, but the hand should be up a little bit towards the ear. Also, raise the elbow up a bit, it would make it more realistic.

Even with those two nitpicks, it is an amazing animation. This is much more realistic. Much better than the pull the invisible string and arrow and the arrow spawns out of no where in mid flight.

i'm not old school, i use the biomechanically efficient shooting technique, this is the 21st century guys, no need to use 17th century techniques.

but thinkin bout it, all the bows in game are barebows, which require old school technique. i dunno, i'm just not much of a fan of old school.

sure bud go ahead and do whatever you want to it. Do you want me to send you all the individual frames, or can you pull then out urself?

one quick thing i wanna say about the animation:

it's great. amazingly great. but his arm grows about five times thicker when he first reaches forward to dock (i think it's called docking... maybe it's nocking?) the arrow.

has anyone considered the possibility that lauren1211 is homosexual? anyone, anyone at all?

Good job on that. I don't mind the current one but maybe if they just added to show your character actually putting the arrow on the bow on the current one. Because when you shoot now the arrows appears out of nowhere.

pretty long time to shoot just one arrow?

yeah heaven forbid that you should have to take some time to aim. nah just pull er back n let er go. itll hit something.

LOL!

I think the animation is very good. Deffinately more realistic than the blind shot with no arrow...
