Chocobodude0
For those who don't know, 50's next album, Curtis, was supposed've been released a while ago. However, due to his inability to hype the album (his usual "I'ma beef with every rapper in sight" tactic didn't work out so well this time), it ended getting pushed bak to September 11th. Kanye West, another rapper, saw this as an oppurtunity to create a "celebration for hip-hop", decided to have his album moved to the 11th as well. Well, this created a lot of tension. Both sides starting going on about how "I'm gonna sell more" and stuff. The stakes were raised so high that 50 gambled his future solo career on him outselling Kanye (Though he later took it back). It's boiled up to the point where it's on the cover of Rolling Stone. This has ended up being described as one of hip-hop's most hyped up moments, and honestly will have a future in deciding hip-hop's future (will the mainstream stuff continue being the kinda stuff 50 would put out, i.e Candy Shop, Amusemant Park, I Get Money [i personally hope to God not] or will it take a psuedo route like that of Kanye?). By the looks of the battle at this point, it is really too hazy to predict who will come out on top. For those who didn't know, record sales have been at an all-time low for a variety of reasons, and hip-hop/rap was hit the hardest out of all genres, so this is seen as a motivation for music listeners to go out and BUY the album instead of just downloading it. Thsi could help out sales in hip-hop as well, and will without a doubt boos thte potential numbers 50 and Kanye originally had. So who do you want to come out on top? Who do you expect to come out on top, 50? Kanye? Kenny Chesney (Google him)? Spider Loc (NAHHHHH  )? And on a final note, to those who don't like hip-hop/rap, that's totally fine, everyone has their opinions on music. I don't go into other threads disrespecting other people's taste in music, and from what I've seen, neither do any of the rap/hip-hop listeners ont this board. So please show that same respect and don't get into an argument of why rap/hip-hop is bad music, stupid, etc. Because it in the end is all a matter of opinion. ..Anyway, I'm expecting Kanye to outsell 50. Kanye has expanded to such a wide audience he's gonna sell big time without a doubt. 50 however, ahs a fanbase that's onyl been reducing in size, due to the many beefs he's had (Game, Ja, Jada, Nas, Fat Joe, Ghostface Killah[of the Wu], now Lil' Wayne, and possibly Jay and Diddy) and commercial direction he's taken. It can easily be seen in his labelmate's Mobb Deep, Lloyd Banks, and Young Buck's record sales. So yeah, post away!
T-Roach
i liked curtis more than graduate, both were decent CDs Curtis will also sell more Doctor of Dental Surgery-2014Medical Doctor-2018?Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon-2024?
How2PK
Curtis will sell more the first week, and Kanye wil do better on the long run. I haven't heard the albums yet. Fiddy's cover art (the photos inside the booklet) are pretty ridiculous. He's eating a gun? Kanye's cover art is even more hideous though. Bubsa
For the sake of all rap and music itself, I really hope Kanye wins. I think it's obvious why. I can't get the feeling out of my head, however, that the little 15 year old bopping tough knock young bloods look at my gun on GTA foundation will unite and make Mr. Cent win. :( This is how much you all raised for charity. Thank you.
ltb2006
Ha a thought it was just a matter of time before someone made a thread like this :P . Well I want Kanye West to win because although 50 cent's songs are sometimes catchy, they are generic and don't have much/any meaning. Also it's funny how Kanye was calm about it and 50 cent was going mad. "If he knows whats best for him he will change his release date" etc. I think 50 will outsell Kanye on the first week only,if at all.
runescapeloser22
I think Kanye is gonna win. His style of music is much better then 50. I also pre-ordered a Kanye album and not a 50 album, so thats one more album Kanye is up :)
How2PK
Played the Kanye West album a couple of times at work today. There are some excellent tracks on it, overall it's a bit sappy and sweet though. Favorite tracks are: Champion (Sampling Steely Dan is always cool), Stronger (the combination works pretty good), I Wonder, Drunk & Hot Girls. Don't really care much about the rest on first hearing. I still got to get into the Chris Martin track. Signature by Maurice SendakWhen the stars make you drool just like a pasta fazool, that's amore! aquariusman
Haven't listened to many tracks off Graduation, and there is no way in hell that I will listen to anything by 50. I'm already loving Graduation, especially Stronger, but that could just be the fact that Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger is playing in it, which is my new theme song Anyways, if Kanye doesn't out-sell 50 this time, which I strongly doubt, he will the next time. 50's career is dieing, it can only hold out so much longer. Off-Topic Work it Harder, Make it Better, Do it faster, Makes us Stronger, More than ever, Hour after ou work is never over : Damn that song rocks. There's no such thing as regret. A regret means you are unhappy with the person you are now,and if you're unhappy with the person you are, you change yourself. Thatregret will no longer be a regret, because it will help to form the new, better you. So really, a regret isn't a regret. It's experience. i123i
Kenny's gonna own em both, think about it man, the rednecks populate faster then anyone else(maybe not the asians but meh) thus Kenny will be number one on the charts, 50 second and kanye 3rd Do I want it this way? No, I'd rather Kanye be ontop of 50 whether in the 1st or second position but I've listened to Can't Tell Me Nothing quite a few times and I still don't get why people like that track over Stronger :\
1_man_army
50 Cent will sell more but Kanye has a better album by far. StrOwez
I hope Kanye does better, I'm mainly a rock fan myself but his tunes are decent. 50cent doesn't appeal to me in his style of music nor life style his gross IMO A friend to all is a friend to none. The same 15-year-old suburbanites you mentioned are just fad-followers, and 50 is just that, a fad. 50 has lost a ton of steam afetr he took the mainstream direction, and that steam can be seen in his 6 singles off the album, all of which ('cept for Ayo Technology, that was a decent hit, but by no means a decent song) flopped. It's showing that even his fanbase is leaving him. But Kanye, on the other hand, ahs onyl had a growing fanbase. He's been tapping into other genres (the techno-ish feel of Stronger, the remix he did with the Panic at the Disco band), which has made a huge impacvt on his fanbase. I say it won't and if you don't have anything constructive to post then don't. And I concur. Anyway, I really hope Kanye sells more. He's a great artist and he makes great music. Mr. Cent's music is nice sometimes but I think he's inconsistent and really not all that great of a rapper anymore. Like ltb said, 50's songs/lyrics are rather close to meaningless. I've heard a bit of the Graduation CD, it sounds great (what did you really expect?). :P

Than you obviously don't know the numbers either of these artists due, even in the current downward slump of sales in the current market.

If Curtis sells more, it'll just be showing that hip-hop's mainstream audience are happy with half-assed club banger afetr club banger, proccedingly downgrading in intelligence to the point where hip-hop will surely die. If Kanye, outsold him, however, it would show that hip-hop is ready for a change. Honestly, I can't really tell what the change will be, but I'm postive it'll be better than the slump it's been in now. TBH, I'm not even all that much of a Kanye fan, but at least he is real and is what the average rapper should be in twerms of subject matter and lyrical ability. So if you can tomorrow, buy Graduation, seriously. I will be. And I don't even liek Kanye, that's why I'm not doing ti for Kanye. I'm doing this for the future of one of the biggest influences of not only my life, but the entire globe.

Gamerr
I don't have a favorite between 50 & Kayne, but I do feel that 50 cent is a little repetitive in his songs lately. I have with some of his songs the "one of the many" idea, but I really liked him with "In Da Club" and together with The Game.
