Religion does not lead to death, hate does..

I hear so often Religion is the poision of society. However I disagree, to often when I see debates, I see no logical side. All I see is insults thrown from 1 side of the room to the other.

Is hating black people wrong? Why? Because you should not hate someone for their color.

Is hating girls wrong? Why? Because you should not hate someone for their gender.

Is hating Muslims wrong? Why? Because you should not hate someone for their faith.

I hope we can all agree that Hate is never Right and never will be. If hate is wrong in one area, its hard to believe it will be okay in another. Yet to often, I find hate spreading. I don't believe its Religion that is the disaease of Society, its Division and Hate.

I use to think that TV and its constant negative views of events was the only real problem. Real people, like you and me on this forum, had smarter sense to know better.

Now I know these are only youtube videos and youtube isn't that great, it does in respect though, commit itself to show people as a community and their feelings, thoughts, and opinions.

Please do not read past this mark if you take things highly in offense. I am not directing flames towards anyone, these are just things I have read and seen with my own eyes in bewilderment of the hate. I thought back in the old days, hate crimes, such as the KKK was completly ridicolous for obvious reasons.. and that in Todays times, we have grown to learn and know of it. Yet to often we just re-direct our hate, it never stops.

True Christians don't exist anymore

To be honest, I tried to find some christians saying hateful things towards athiesm, but I had some trouble. If you could find some, that would help to further debate the discussion.

Here is where I am completely confused.

Christians are suppose to love everyone unconditionally.. yet they do not.

Athiests say they have morals and care.. yet brutally attack someones faith because they do not have one themselfs.

Static shock anyone? Am I the only one seeing black vs white here?

I do not denouce or hate athiests and I do not denounce and hate christians. I denouce the hate in every human being.

I seriously doubt this world will survive hate without love in it. Good luck tip it'ers. I feel if this hate continues to grow in societies with "my opinion vs yours = death match".. then I fear we won't have much to look forward to.

Ok, first I agree that the news and things like that show mostly the bad side of things. If you watch the news, 8/10 of the things they show are completely negetive.

And I as a Christian do my best not to hate or discriminate against anybody for any reason. And if I did discriminate agianst (or I guess I should say if I have something against) anyone, I would keep it to my self in a way that wouldn't show. Unfortunatly there is always going to be someone who hates some group of people enough to kill them for no reason.

The thing is the majority of Christians and atheists are not like how you portrayed. Only the ignorant hate others because of thier views (well, unless thier views are extreme, e.g. suicide bombing to get to heaven)

That's a bit of a rash blanket statement. It's not always like that and I'd say flaming people because of thier views is actually in the minority.

I find this interesting considering religion inevitably divides people into groups. Exclusive unity is an oxymoron.

Meh. That may very well be so, yet the topic isn't inherently bad. Instead of just bashing Defender, you could say something on topic to.

At first reading I'd have to say this is a pretty good post by Defender. Regardless of things he said in the past he appears to have a pretty solid point on this thread.

We people are flawed creatures. So often anger and hate come so easily and love and forgiveness come so hard. I definitely screw up my fair share when it comes to this but I am in a constant battle with myself beating down anger and trying to replace it with love. Sometimes I win, sometimes I lose.

I think a big part in combating this is for us all to open ourselves up to asking forgiveness if we offend or sometimes an even tougher thing is giving forgiveness when we have been wronged. We also need to accept that people are flawed and no one is perfect when it comes to this. We have all screwed up and we will all do so many more times in our lives.

I think a big thing missing from forums is it is so hard to convey and feel the emotions behind people's words. I'm sure I have probably offended people on here with my words at times and if I had been in person I could have seen that and apologized. So anyways, in an effort to spread the love on this forum, any one here has been offended by my words I apologize. It is never my intent to offend. Please know in the future if I say something that anyone feels I am personally attacking them I don't mean to do so, I may disagree on something but that doesn't mean I dislike or want to hurt the other person merely because I disagree with them. I don't understand the connection of hate being evil. As you say "We hate the act", that hate for you isn't evil, infact it is probably divine hatred. Double standards. Hate exists, and sometimes it's useful and sometimes it isn't.

I would say injustified hatred was evil.

Race is fundamental to a person's life.

Gender is fundamental to a person's life.

I'll second that. I debate with religious people so often not because I hate them, but because I just enjoy it, I find it interesting to see different perspectives and opinions, even though I might vehemently disagree with them.
