Why doesn't anyone ever play with private chat on?
ixfd64 replied to Today's topic in General Discussion
Ironically, very few people on AIM will set their chat to "buddylist only". I guess that it's because RuneScape's privacy options are very accessible (always on the game screen). Anyways, if you want to see why high-levels put their chat to friends: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cwy3llZzw0w -
We got the graphics updates (no new content), Lumbridge free teleport, password security update, and free users can now vote in SOME polls. There's also holiday events, although they're only temporary. They're not much, though. :(

One of the reasons that fletching is so much harder to level on RSC is that only 25 logs can be converted into notes at once, and that bow strings can only be traded 12 at a time. However, arrows and their materials are stackable. Would it be faster XP to buy a lot of headless arrows and arrowheads?

It's agreed by many players that hunting needs an update. I agree. With the highest huntable creatures at level 71, I think that we need more variety. We also need more quests related to hunter. Some of these could involve catching cryptids, or creatures believed to exist (urban legends, myths), but not known yet. Anyways, here are my suggestions. The Hound of the Baskervilles (based on a classic tale): Help trap and kill a hound that has been terrorizing a village, and help apprehend the person behind it. (XP rewards: 5000 hunter, 3000 slayer) Chupacabra Catcher (based on the urban legends): Catch chupacabras that are killing livestock throughout RuneScape. (XP rewards: 10k hunter) (item rewards: smart traps, or box traps that have higher success than normal traps, and a 30% chance of not tripping if an animal escapes) The Labyrinth: help Theseus defeat the Minotaur (XP rewards: 15k hunter, 15k thieving) And of course, here are extensions to the hunter skill (some later suggestions are based on the U.S. Army survival manual (FM 21-76)): Box traps: Black chinchompas (level 75 to hunt, they require level 65 ranged and have a +85 ranged attack) in upper Wilderness Objibwa bird snares: Same as regular snares, except more ffective. Requires 35 hunter. Mist nets: Used for catching birds, they have a 100% chance of success. (requires level 40 to use, and can only be placed in avian flyways at certain places) Squirrel poles: used for catching squirrels (level 55 to use) Bottle traps: Can be made in certain areas of the game to catch rodents and snakes. Requies spade, logs (infinite uses), and level 65 hunter. Bow trap: A bow that shoots any animals it triggers (level 80 to use). Requires any bow, any arrow types (can break), knife, logs (one use), and rope. Pig spear trap: A more advanced shooting trap, it requires level 85. It also requires any bow, any spear, knife, logs (one use), and rope. Gill net: Place it in a stream to catch fish. It requires level 30 to use, but the higher the hunter level, the more fish the player will catch. Successful catches will also give fishing XP. Treadle spring snare: used for catching large creatures. It requires level 90 hunter, logs, knife, and rope. Trip-string deadfall: used for catching a veriety of creatures, it requires 95 hunter, rope, logs (one use), and a knife.

Way back in the days (early '01), Andrew said that there would be a quest in which we break into the Varrock bank. It has yet to happen.

I think that he robbed a bank. However, since the laws are more lenient in Denmark, he didn't have to stay in the slammer for very long, compared to in the United States. [1]

Anyone Ever see a Famous RS player? Post your pics!

Our very own Queenvalerie! :) I also got a screenshot of Centaurian, but it's at my school computer. I'll post it in a few days. (On a side note, my friend Arielsky just hit 99 cooking recently.) -

I always thought that Casserole was a guy, LOL. Unless he just likes using a female character. --- These days, it takes more than a few 99s to become famous, seeing that they're so common. On a side note, to give my friends credit: Yomitzu just got 99 fletching on Wednesday (soon to be followed by Hot Chick826 at 98), and Desdemona43 got 99 HP last night. -
I wouldn't say that I have any idols on RuneScape, although I do have a few role models: [*:11ism062]Yogosun (pretty cool guy in general) [*:11ism062]Hohto (old school ownage) [*:11ism062]Franzk (pure f2p ownage) [*:11ism062]Mendark 9 (pure f2p ownage) [*:11ism062]The Old Nite (was a pretty nice guy)

I've heard about Tuesday before. By the way, I don't think it's even possible to create names with "Runescape" in them anymore. It's probably to prevent Jagex impersonators (just like how they blocked names contain "Jagex").
-
Yep, the original account "Runescape". She also has another character, Ipod, which is also very original. (Ipod is level 99 cooking, by the way.)
-
Oh yea, one more. In 10th grade chemistyr class, I used "net send * go to runescape.com for the best online game!" The chemistry teacher got a bit mad, but I didn't get in trouble, though.

runescape weddings-Am I the only one creeped out?
ixfd64 replied to myeroboman's topic in General Discussion
IMO, RS weddings are utterly stupid. That is, unless the two know each other in real life. -
Unfortunately, our world isn't perfect. If it were, then nobody would need guns (maybe except for shooting competitions).

Has anyone ever seen Villandra? (My friend Sarah Devil0 saw her a while ago.) By the way, congrats to Villandra on 99 everything! I'm surprised that no-one has mentioned it. -

Oh man, this thread is hilarious. Anyways, here are some of mine: 1. middle school, 8th grade - I was improperly using materials in industrial technology class and argued with the teacher about it, and he sent me to the office. He kater admitted that he was being a bad mood, though. 2. 8th grade, history class - my teacher was mentioning the book "Moby D̢̮â¬Ëâââ‰â¬Åck" and I made fun of the book's name because of the second word and got sent to the office. I had to do trash cleanup for lunch, LOL. Luckily, I had been friendly with the teacher-in-charge (ranked just below principal), so I didn't have to do lots of it. 3. somewhat unrelated, but I was looking at a poster in PE class in 8th grade when someone thought I was staring at someone's private parts. A few people made fun of me but that was it. 4. 9th grade - swore a bit too much; my teacher didn't mind mild swearing, but I said the s-word one too many times. :P 5. 10th grade - was showing a friend Scott Pakin's complaint generator site and used my English teacher's name as an example, just as she saw it. She got a bit unhappy. I thought that she was going to hate me, but she didn't. :) 6. In the same English class, I was late by a few seconds and I yelled the f-word outside. Everyone laughed, but I didn't get in trouble.

Unfortunately, this is mostly true. :( We see news of seveal hundred people dieing in bombings, or several thousand dieing in an earthquake, but the news quickly passes. At most, we see a small blurb on the news and that's it. However, a massacre of 32 people happens, and everyone gets hyped up about it.

Jagex lists 15 rules which they consider "essential" that players abide by. However, in order to have a truly enjoyable gaming experience, there has to be common courtesy and respect. Here's a few examples: Arrow "stealing" This "problem" has been in RuneScape for years. Basically, if a player shoots some arrows, and isn't fast enough to recover them, they will be visible to other players. This has been under debate at times, and Jagex's stance is that it's OK to take the arrows, under the "finders, keepers" doctrine. However, this has caused many players to become unhappy, especially those who cannot afford large amounts of expensive arrows. Kill stealing Kill stealing was another major "problem" in RuneScape Classic. Basically, if you were fighting an NPC and another player mages or ranges it, you wouldn't get so much exp, and you might not get the drop for now. At monsters under high demand, kill stealing has been the cause of many angry rants and flame wars. Although kill stealing is banned in some games (such as EverQuest), it is allowed in RuneScape. With multi-combat in RS2, Jagex states that it is intentionally allowed for players to "work together". Luring Before Jagex made it illegal in late March 2007, luring was the source of numerous debates. Supporters argued that traders should know the risks, hence Darwin's law. Opponents argue that it involves scamming. While luring was legal before March 29, 2007, many played looked down at lurers, considering them to be players who have sunk to great lows. Law rune crafting World 99 is the "official" world of law crafting. The law rune crafting business is mostly dominated by the Fast Laws, Inc. Crafters and runners are told to abide by the rules set by the company. People who take advantage of the company's popularity are considered leeches, and often end up on ignore lists. However, any game world may be used by anyone, and FLI does not "own" a world. Players may legally, by Jagex runes, craft and trade wherever and whenever they wish. (Funny how world 2 shade burners are never called leeches.) However, it's not against the rules to tell players to "go away" either. Door closing Many players will close doors on purpose for the sole purpose of annoying others. This is not against the rules. Back to the topic, what do you think of Jagex's stance on common courtesy? Do you think they should step in more? Or leave it as it is? Personally, I don't think that these should be enforced by Jagex rules. (If Jagex punishes players for "leeching" of the Last Laws Inc. or other company, they would be accused of bias in an instant.) I think that things are good they way they are. What do you think?

This can definitely be done on RuneScape, though. Example: Orange cape and red elegant on members (it's pretty close to maroon). Or you can just go to the MoM.

Saradell Ranked #131 overall as of April 17, 2007. He's also a fellow p-mod. -
A very long time ago, I created Baratus (from the game Hexen) as a PKer but gave up on him. However, there's now a player moderator named Baratus, who's not related to me at all. My guess is that the original Baratus got deleted for inactivity (I don't think Jagex deletes inactive accounts anymore).
