  1. I've got a nearly generic black CATERPILLAR backpack built to last, and that's all it ever needs to be. The shape of backpacks are ugly to look at, no matter what the pattern or decorations, so it's best to not draw people's attention to it. And if you don't want to draw attention to it, you have room to make it practical. When it comes to backpacks: Function > Fashion, as said before.
  2. I guess we could save it to some historical archive or something. It was a fairly big moment in RS history. :-k

I thought this topic was about canes too. Wonder why... I thought this topic was about bringing corporal punishment back into schools.... Wishful thinking, I suppose. :( Me too. It might have been a good discussion if it was. Quick question: Why do Americans and Canadians give ridiculous names to their sports teams? Hurricanes is ridiculous? For a sports team? Yeah. I believe we have a cane in the attic, but I've never properly looked at it. I think it had a twisty ivory handle, it's probably worth a fair amount.

Swine flu is slightly worse than man flu, but it's easy to confuse them.
  5. Do AS and A2 exams, get into a good University (Cambridge or UCL or ICL or Sheffield) and study Chem. Engineering, get a good science-ey job (technical term) somewhere, and that's where my overly optimistic future plans break down. ;)

I found a useful timeline-map from the BBC news site tracking reported cases and deaths of swine flu around the world over each day since it was originally reported, if anyone's interested. It might prove a useful reference of where to nuke: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/americas/8021547.stm It's also got some history and information and stuff if you click the links above the map.
  7. Maybe give useful non-tradable items such as firecapes an appropriate faux alch value? So the items-kept-on-death system treats it as being worth, say, 5,000,000 coins, but you wouldn't get anything if you actually tried to alch it. I don't think an overhaul is required, using a fixed value which may or may not reflect how valuable an item is makes it all the more interesting, but it's unacceptable when a really 'valuable' non-tradable item which any player would prefer to keep over a 'worthless' tradable item loses out. The losses can be massive, and it's not interesting any more, it's just nonsensical.
  8. So don't join them? They're not exactly healthy for the economy, and it's not required to join them. Until Jagex looks at the GE system again, just steer clear and use the GE as it is intended.
  9. Pfft. Call that the BBC? :P But seriously, you guys really need to get better TV. And I'm looking at you as well, Canada.
  10. I agree wholeheartedly. No matter what the scenario is, this is not a job for school officials.
  11. I know what you're going through, and the best thing to do is not renew membership or play the game at all until it's out of the way, depressing as it is. Stay on forum.tip.it to keep your head running, but don't play the game. AS Philosophy can be pretty bad too, you get handed a 15 and a 30 marker to do in 4 days, and you think 'I don't have to do this today, I could do it tomorrow!' and you regret it. This is probably going to sound like someone with a multiple personality disorder, but I try to be unreasonable to the voice in my head that suggests procrastination. I tell it 'This is your only job, and you can't do anything else until it's done'. Generally this works for me, but probably not for those of you who aren't suffering from MPD. The annoying thing is though, I'm not allowed to type essays anymore, they have to be hand written. No double-spacing for me. :(
  12. To be perfectly honest, you don't have the BBC. That's what's wrong with American television. ;) I suppose it will be interesting how they do it, it might really show something about how bad waterboarding is. Especially with a rate of 1000$/s, it would be interesting how long he would consider it to be worth it. Kudos to him for actually trying it to prove a point, though.
  13. All I can say is: About bloody time. Ah well, I think the clear up of the operation was a job well done by the British Army, even if the pretences for going in were not valid. Blame Tony and his crew for that.
  14. It depends on the situation, the virus and the vaccine. If we had an effective vaccine for Swine flu, I don't think manditory vaccinations are appropriate, but they should be encouraged. If we were faced with a pandemic of a much more virulent and deadly strain, and had an effective vaccine, mandatory vaccinations might be appropriate. It's unreasonable and selfish to risk the health of others when the virus can be easily contained by the use of vaccines.
  15. If it was ever done, I expect this would be the best way. It would add an increased memory requirement to players wishing to hear the MP3 versions, but that's to be expected. Updates involving new tracks will have to take slightly longer, but it's a one off and not too common. Once it's downloaded, the MP3s wouldn't be intrusive to the performance of the applet. Nice. P.S. Even if it was only available half of the population, that is still a hell of a lot of people.

  17. I don't know. Einstein seems like a likely candidate, relativity was a work of pure genius. It depends on the fields on which you define 'Smartest'. Being a brilliant politician can't really be compared to being a brilliant mathematician.
  18. Yeah, that's why I suggest approaching it in the same way as graphics, it's not a vital part of the game. Clearly some computers aren't going to be able to handle the download, so they can still have their MIDIs. But it would be nice to make the game more immersive for computers than can. The MIDI-ish versions are decent, but you can't deny that they would be better as orchestrated MP3s, which would lift RS quality wise back into the popular MMOs of today. Besides, Jagex is situated in Cambridge. If that isn't an opportunity to get a great orchestra of music students, I don't know what is. :)
  19. I'm from 1992, and it's amazing how vivid some of these shows are now after forgetting them after nearly a decade. Courage the Cowardly Dog, Animaniacs, the original Pokemon, Hey Arnold, the Golden Era of Disney, TMNT, Ataris... Blimey. My childhood was weird, not to mention awesome. If I remember correctly, Courage was tiny and purple, and he lived with an old married couple, and I think one was called Maurice. It was strange and freaky, and I loved it.
  20. Another quote from them. How they're married, god knows. And they're definitely nazis. I doubt that's a BNP policy, it's got nothing to do with why the BNP exists. That's just general sexism. Anyway, I'd like a source. P.S. I don't support the BNP, but I don't like smears when I smell one.

We need to construct a full map with everyone's general locations, so we know where exactly to nuke. :-k And daniels, you need to nuke France more. They had it coming too.

They aren't a problem if you endure them long enough and stay in the same small area for a few minutes. If you move around too much, they become aggressive again/their timers reset. If you really can't stand them, and I can understand why, pop Greaters on the blacklist and you'll never have to do them again.

:ohnoes: I think I be slightly closer than WoodenFruit!
  24. They are actually quite likely to get the odd political seat in the next election, but Nationalists generally do in times of economic crisis, anyone who knows basic history would know this has happened before with dire consequences. BNP members actually seem fairly intelligent for an extreme party, and believe it or not do raise the odd legitimate issue which I doubt any moderate party would bring themselves to discuss, but it's their severely racist conclusions that lets them down. They are both racist (I don't think the term 'Nazi' is entirely appropriate here) and slightly misunderstood.
  25. Of course you should. It might be fairly common amongst worn skillcapes, but that doesn't make it common overall. Any 99 is a good achievement, and even amongst 99s, Strength is very respectable. Not only that, but it's really useful for combat! :D
