  1. Still, MIDIs aren't really good enough in the games of today. No matter how you put it, we're past Super Mario. How do other MMO's do it then? :-k
  2. What, seriously? I was hoping to do a Chemical Engineering Degree there, and I'm doing Physics, Maths and Chemistry A level. :D Uh, if I get in. Which is unlikely.
  3. Ha, I know what you mean. The Route of All Evil is a great track, especially for a MIDI, I often use it for training sessions. Why not approach music in the same way as Jagex has approached graphics? Make every song (and everything that would benefit in quality for being an MP3) have two versions, a MIDI file (Low Quality) and an MP3 (High Quality) for faster computers. That way those who can handle it ,which I reckon would be a fairly large portion of the Runescape population, will get some sounds coming from this game that are hopefully fairly decent, and yet we won't lose the accessibility factor for those with lower-end computers. Music is one of the few things left in the game that still frankly isn't very good compared to other games of this genre.
  4. The Holocaust was not the only genocide that happened in the last century. Rwandan Genocide, Armenian Genocide, both involved the killing that one group of people determined not contributing to their country. And both killed less than 1 million. And there are still others. I find this incredibly ironic that we're nearing the end of Holocaust Awareness month and all active humans look to the future and say "never again" and now we can even suggest the idea of killing hundreds of thousands of people with a disibility just to rid it from the future. Look up Down's syndrome. It's not always an inherited disease. Its Trisomy 21. A mistake in the gene copying where the offspring gets an extra set of chromosome 21. A mutation. It can happen to anyone, even the healthiest parents in the world (although the mother's age has a factor in the chances of Down Syndrome). Even if we killed every human with Down Syndrome on this planet, we'd still have many being born every day and cannot truly eradicate the disease. Warren, you know and I know that there is never such a thing as 'never again' when it comes to humans. Wars will come and go, dangerous ideals will always be thrown around, and people will never live in guaranteed peace. This topic is just the continuation of that pattern. Sorry. :( You're completely right about Down's Syndome, though, and millions of other inhibitory conditions follow the same pattern. If they didn't, they would have already been removed from the gene pool as Down's Syndrome sufferers could not have lived long enough to reproduce before medicine really took off, and their fertility is severely reduced anyway. Selection pressures don't work because conditions such as this are pressured to avoid the evolutionary system.
  5. Its Springtime for Hitler and Germany. True. This is one of those situations where comparing someone's views to Hitler is becoming increasingly justified. I can't believe where this thread is going.
  6. What like a never ending loop - like a mobius strip ? I guess that would make sense, however I believe that to time travel "on this strip" you would have to travel by the 2nd dimension on the strip for it (time travel ) to be possible. ie on the small edge. How does that equate back into the real world ? Anyone mentioned the grandfather paradox, in the last 5 pages ? y/n ? Y, but the futurama version is far better. I've heard that it's possible that space in the universe could be looped, in that if you kept on going in any direction you'd end up where you started, like a game of asteroids, but in more dimensions. If this is true, it might also be true for time as well. The universe would be shaped like a five dimensional donut, and don't ask me what a five dimensional donut looks like.
  7. Good question, I'd like to hear Jagex's stance on this.
  8. The costume room is fine, it just needs a few more slots for items that should go in there. If you don't like what it does, don't build one.
  9. 50-50s do work if everyone trusts each other, but as is human nature, we like to take control of these situations. The Great Orb Project is a very poorly planned minigame which could be far better with a few tweaks here and there, so I'm afraid there's nothing you can do, other than whine at Jagex to fix it. And they still don't seem to be listening.
  10. #7 is an awesome idea!
  11. I think you've forgotten what the 'marriage' thing is about. It's a formality, and you don't have to actually be in love with the prince/princess. This is getting way over the top. Stance: No. Religion: Christian. Orientation: Heterosexual.
  12. Blah another 'ROW doesn't/does work' thread. This is an ongoing project, but I reckon that it does work, but you're better off with a berserker ring if you can afford one or an explorer's ring if you find its many functions helpful.
  13. That was okay, but I don't think Jagex didn't put enough effort in. There was the odd meaty bit, but a letter from the Chaos Elemental would have been far more informative. Ah well, at least there's progress.
  14. Of course flowers serve a purpose, they're there for the bees! Flowers make food for bees and sometimes humans aswell...We're not saying that everything has to serve a purpose to humans or else it should be killed. Hmm, yes, bad analogy. Any attempts to salvage it have made it worse, so I'll stop. I might think of a better one later, but I think you get my point. Try to ignore the overly Christian ideas that the mother has, but even if you put God aside, she has a right to keep the 'child' because it is not suffering in any way. It is just 'being', and I can't think of any rational objection to this state. In fact, it must be remarkably peaceful.
  15. I'm all for school uniforms, and most schools near me now employ that system. Frankly, if you can't 'express yourself' without the use of clothes and meaningless fashion trends, you aren't doing it right. I reckon it's got something to do with altering the society that forms amongst pupils, it's an influence that draws them together slightly. You're still going to get groups, no matter what, but having a uniform makes it difficult to detach yourself from your school, physically and socially. Think of it as a small force that binds everything together in the school, and that can't be a bad thing considering the educational situation we have right now. Of course, there's got to be limits regarding cost, but I see no reason why it shouldn't be part of the whole process. As long as the materials that the uniform is made of is of good quality, and yet not too expensive, it doesn't actually pose as much of a difference as you'd think compared to not having school uniform. You'd just end up wearing out and replacing your regular clothes quicker instead.
  16. Yikes, that's a terrible condition. Still, I support the mother for keeping it, it isn't something that's wired up to a machine, but it will never grow up to become a true person. That's a great pity, but that doesn't mean it should be denied life in an artificial manner. Think of it this way, what is the point of a flower to us? It is a beautiful thing, something loved and cherished, and yet it serves no physical benefit to us. In fact, we'd probably be slightly better off if we never bothered with them. And yet millions of people around the world keep at least one flowering plant, because we appreciate what they are. Why deny that?
  17. I'm loving this idea, although I don't think I'll be up for the challenge. Do it without prayer... Yeah, to be honest it's a lot more interesting if prayer was ruled out for the lower levelled monsters such as Cockroaches and Demons. It makes it far too simple.
  18. I love how you switch between protection prayers whilst trying to take down a rat. But seriously, we need to try to kill something big with this.
  19. It depends on where they put the musicians, but I can't see this being too useful. We have enough methods of restoring energy. However, it might improve the game environment, and could make some areas for people to meet for a chat, as well as getting a bonus.
  20. How about the ability to alter existing armour and weapons, and not limiting this to the standard smithable metals? It would be nice to be able to make armour and weapons look more unique and varied, and also to slightly alter its stats for various purposes. If it was ensured that the only way to do this is by the smithing skill, I can imagine it turning quite a profit. But, to keep mining viable, altering weapons and armour should require bars and shouldn't provide much experience. Making the weapons and armour as we already can is for that. Alloys could be fun as well. Smithing still has a lot of potential.
  21. If it was an economically viable system, it would widely exist by now, I'm afraid. Unfortunately, any company that tried to do it would get loads of customers that would pay very little and use the internet very little, but no customers that would use it a lot and pay a lot because flat-rates would be more beneficial to them. If you manage to work out a good way to do it, the market niche is all yours, but I'm afraid I don't think it would work.

I often try to find for myself whether I need certain things in my life that most people take for granted. For example, there is no need to have a wide group of friends or try to socialise with as many people as possible at school, so I don't. There is no need to follow fashion trends, so I don't. You get the idea. It'll make me an outcast in some social circles, but those circles I have no need to take part in. Win-Win. I enjoy being me, even if it's unlike what anyone else is doing. :D Oh, I also have an unusually prominent Darwin's Tubercle (it's a pointy bit on your ear, it's not anything disgusting  ).
  23. I've seen this as well. The most boring and irritating music centres on areas that have been around for ages (or since RuneScape was created), like Lumbridge and Draynor (I hate 'Harmony' with a passion), and the most exciting and appropriate ones are in recent quests. I'd like it if they overhauled some of the earlier tracks.
  24. Good luck, I'm going to try for Cambridge next year, although I doubt I'll get in. It's better than Oxford (just to annoy daniels) ;) . Universities are expensive, especially ones in London, although it's possible to get grants and loans and scholarships etc., although I don't know enough about them to give you any proper information.
  25. It would be nice to have some higher level plants in the allotments that aren't good for training on, but are useful as: a) Food. B) High level herblore secondaries. c) Stat boosting stuff. Something that rewards high level farmers for their effort.
