  1. To be honest, if someone is determined to hog a good username which nobody else has chosen, then by Guthix they'll do what they must to hog that username. It's impossible to fix the problem in it's entirety without legitimate player casualties, a bit like RWTing. But we can shave off a large portion of username hoggers without serious problems. What would we regard as the end of the 'character establishment' process? I wouldn't regard a character who is perched in Lumbridge castle without ever seeing the village beyond it's walls as 'established'. I think finishing Cook's assistant is a good measure, but then again some people don't want to do questing straight away. So how about it's reward, 300 Cooking? No, some people don't want to do cooking. How about this then: 300 experience in any skill, gained outside Tutorial Island before one month has elapsed from the character's creation?
  2. I like the idea of DD's better than BTS, but if the frequency is anything like what it is now, they're unacceptable. Jagex, please at least tell us what's going on, you don't have to actually throw in a game update with the Diary!
  3. It's true, and I would appreciate it if more white people would take this thing head on, beyond meaningless speeches and political correctness, and towards enforced laws against people dividing people by traits and opinions that really shouldn't matter. I'm fed up with this whole race thing. Get. Over. It.
  4. Probably, but it's not the intrusive kind ('You can't do x, no buts'), just the informative kind ('You can do x, but only if you tell me y about x'). My parents will let me do a lot of things within reason, so long as I tell them what I'm doing.
  5. I reckon we're middle, but we sometimes act upper-middle. We only manage to get away with it because I don't have any siblings. Don't really want to say any more, it is a bit of a personal question.
  6. I like this one better.
  7. I support this one, it's a good idea.
  8. It's so funny that everyone wants more randoms now the rewards are decent. I reckon it's really good now, though.
  9. Why fix something that is not broken? Jagex gets plenty of income, we get cheap prices, why change that?
  10. Nice find. To be honest, when a J Mod puts in a post 'This is to be kept 100% confidential', you are asking for this to happen. :)
  11. Don't they fight each other without human intervention anyway? As long as there's no artificial influences to the fight, such as adding knives to their claws or something, I see nothing wrong with watching it (and maybe put a bet on the side).
  12. This is probably the most important reason why throwing out the BTS's is a good move, Jagex can be more flexible and instead of disappointing players by announcing that they're holding a big update back for another month, they won't announce it at all. I don't think we need another Great Orb Project. However, Jagex must start churning out DD's, because speculation and the sheer comfort in knowing that something is creaking away in Jagex Towers is appreciated, and I really hate suspense if it's for too long.
  13. Sadly the rule breakers get the most attention, so it seems like there's more of them, but they are a very small percentage as you say. I'm generally an optimistic person, and as long as Jagex doesn't make stupid mistakes, like letting BH get out of hand, there won't be a downfall for us to cause for many years to come.

  15. This is something that I think should be legalised, but extensively controlled by experts in the field. Personally, I wouldn't assist a suicide if asked because I am not prepared or qualified to make that judgement, however I do believe that there are situations where people are. For example, a terminally ill patient diagnosed by three separate qualified doctors without doubt, who declares a desire to end their life, again without doubt, should be allowed and assisted by qualified people to end his/her own life in a humane manner. The most important thing is that people can be assured officially whether or not suicide is the correct course of action, instead of it being a completely personal judgement with an unacceptable risk of someone losing their life when they could have chosen a different path without suffering. I'm not going to comment on the article because there's so many things which aren't mentioned which are vital to confidently saying whether it was right or wrong.
  16. I'm not sure if they can, though. It never actually appears on anybody's chat, that action will log the player off and thus the symbol (and author's name) deleted, so how can it be recorded? Your message is first sent to the server, and then when the server sends it back to you, you crash. Therefore, since they log all chat, they can find out who used this bug. Furthermore, how in the world do you think you can crash OTHER players without any information getting to the server to cause it? I didn't know they logged all chat. I thought that the only chat that was recorded was that which was seen by players, and only stored temporarily for the purpose of abuse reports within a few minutes of the chat. Otherwise, it would be a lot of almost useless information to store, considering the tens of thousands of people playing at any moment, the majority chatting away, and the game running 24/7.
  17. This was really needed, but Jagex seem to be making it up as they go along instead of working out the implications of their own updates and acting quickly.

  19. I don't think in-game proof is possible, so bannings will be very difficult. If you saw someone say the crash code, you'd be logged off and all trace of the chat would be lost. If you didn't see it (for whatever reason, public off, whatever), you don't have proof of who said it. Since I don't think Jagex uses evidence sourced outside of their games/websites, I'd be surprised if anyone actually gets banned. It's a cool glitch though, it reminds me of the .

I doubt that's a typo. If it is, it's not bad enough to need fixing. RS, unlike many of it's human inhabitants, generally keeps impeccable grammar, and with all of the text, examines, game information, quests, names and options that have to be typed up manually, their effort has been outstanding. So forgive them if one or two errors get through, they are, after all, only human (although I sometimes wonder about Mod MMG... ;) ).
  21. "Devoted a lot of resources to raise awareness and make it harder for hackers to [...]"? Bull feathers. Their defense against unrelated RWT (RWT not tied to macro-ing or gold farming industries) is a rule that prohibits people from spreading website names and reiterating the same, ancient warning of "don't visit any websites" or whatnot. Guess what? Had I followed that, I would never have found Tip.It or RuneHQ. These warnings have been proven time and time again to be nearly worthless. Whilst, their defense against RWT that's causing harm to their game is to make massive game changes limiting the play style of all current players. You have an interesting definition of "lot of resources." Jagex willingly allows Runescape to coexist with Junk Trading, BH Trading, Dragonstone Trading, etc. They put little to no effort in preventing horribly miss-priced goods, as shown by the Corr. Morrigan's Javelins transfer method, or the Dragon Claws, or the Dragon Plate. They do little to rectify the situation on items that have long since existed as an RWT / trade limit bypass, Divine and Elysian Spirit Shields and 3a gear. While Runescape isn't truly as bad as the article portrays it, the article isn't that far off. Jagex could do a lot more about these situations, but they choose not to. Besides, the whole "making Runescape look bad" is already done by WoW. Better graphics, and many, many more subscribers describe the fee being thrice Runescape's. Most popular MMO in the world. And keeping that in mind, do you really think any media source would care enough to follow up on an article considering how few people would read it? You're missing the point here. Tackling RWTing is a bigger job than you seem to realise, and you can simultaneously have invested a lot of resources and made a lot of progress and still have a lot left to do. Don't bring WoW into this either, it's completely irrelevant.
  22. If he wasnt a citizen, him running for office would be a federal crime. We all know he is a legal citizen, and changing the law to elect him at a later time would be fine. If we start changing long standing legal codes on a whim we have a serious problem. Its good to amend old laws that are outdated for whatever reason, its bad to amend a law just because its old. There was a movement a few years back to remove the citizenship so arnold swarcheneger(spelling) could run for president. Im fine with them doing that, provided we have a reason for doing it other then "its an old law". For instance, laws regulating telegraphs coudl be removed, because they no longer apply to everyday life. Wanting the president of a country to be a natural citizen of said country is a legitimate reason to keep that law. edit--it is more natavist then racist, and while it wasnt entirely pure that clause did exist initially to prevent Britain from taking over again through political policy. Without actually being there I couldnt tell you which was the focus, but I do believe it was a reasonable provision. If a national vote to remove it came up for election I would vote for it if it still required more then just citizenship(ex 20 years in country or something). We do have a reason why it should be removed, besides it being outdated. It conflicts with democracy, pure and simple. If one person with an American citizenship, born in America or not, wants to become the American president and is voted by Americans more than any other candidate, there should be no doubt that he/she is the president. It's pretty much by definition. A nation which is so proud to call itself democratic needs to remove these unnecessary laws in order to avoid being labelled as hypocritical. Why do people think that so many things are unquestionably true, good and right just because the 'Holier than thou' constitution said so? It makes more sense if you question the constitution itself which was made by a relatively small amount of people who, believe it or not, could get things wrong.
  23. If you ask me, the Summer's quests have been finished. When I did the 2nd quest it felt like there were some loose ends left. I can't remember what exactly is said at the end now, though. If you haven't done anything past the official end of the quest, then yes, there's some more stuff to do, such as exploring the remaining portals, fighting the Corporeal Beast and finishing off the spirit shield. But since we can do that, there's no loose ends in the game any more. This is a rare example of Jagex actually finishing a storyline (if you call two quests a storyline). I reckon Arposandra would be a good choice for the altar, but we've forgotten about the possibility of new runes, or more combinations of existing runes, and so on and so on. It's the last known frontier, but not necessarily the last. ;)
  24. Each pair can get you through 1000 essence, and there's a few teleports that can get you near/at FoG, so it's not that difficult to teleport there and back after a few runs as long as you know what you're doing. It's just one of the terms and conditions of using them, and you're just going to have to accept that. P.S. Moosecow, your grammar is still horrible.
  25. It depends whether the item is being sold quicker than it is 'dropped' via coinshare. If it is, there's a substantial money drain from the difference between the mid price input and the min price output. However, if it isn't, there's a big problem. The unsold items will accumulate, injecting their min value (and for coinsharable items, this can be a lot of money) into the economy via the NPC hunters and not draining enough money from the GE to counteract it. Coinshare is based on a dangerous assumption that thankfully is right most of the time.
