Skill burnout?
Runecrafting for me as well. I got to level 91 in february I think. I probably haven't crafted more than 2k ess ever since.

good assignments bad assignments, what are the odds?
You're using Duradel, who is supposed to be challenging for the high level player (100+). Jagex' way of handling that is obviously giving out tasks to kill high level monsters. You don't say why you don't like doing the dragon tasks: are they too challenging (doubt that), not worth the effort (for 15 steel drags), not quick enough xp? In my experience, but that could just be my mind playing tricks on me, is that after you do one dragon task, you won't get them for a while. Or, try Chealdar the elf for a bit, maybe those tasks suit you better (level 67 lunar spell highly recommended).

Site Poll: When did you register on the forum?
I registred pretty quickly after I found tipit. Probably a month after. I don't really remember, it's been three years after all :

Al Gore wins Nobel Peace Prize!
Can anybody tell me the what the link is between global warming and (world) peace? I didn't watch the news yesterday, so I don't know the Nobel comittee's reasoning behind it. Bono or Kohl would've been more suitable in my layman's eyes..

High lvl jerks.
Title: high level jerkS (multiple) Inside rant: chaotic story about one (1) player (singular). When will people start realising, that people aren't jerks *because* they're high level, but rather that some are jerks *and* happen to be high level ? Same note: people aren't annoying because they're low level. They are annoying *and* happen to be low level. Same goes for P2P vs F2P, pk'ers vs skillers, pures vs the rest of RS.

Im a noob in studded?
People on Runescape will *always* find something to make fun of you, no matter your level. Shrug it off and move on ;)

How Do You Know When It's Your Time To Quit?
Any of the above. Or, you'll know it's time to quit, when you start blaming Jagex for not having fun on Runescape (updates blow, they only cater to newbs etc). Or, you'll know it's time to quit when you start a new character (for the fifth time) to get that fresh feeling you had when you started this game.

this concerns "iresponsible player mods!"
It's not just what 'the masses' expect of P-mods: Both mods discussed in this thread seem to be lacking by Jagex' standards.

how long till my voice stops cracking?!
It's annoying, but by the time you're 16, it shouldn't be happening much anymore. Drink whiskey, smoke cigars, that'll speed up the process some. Oh wait, you're 14.....In that case, drink whiskey and smoke cigars.

Who was first? - I'll tell you....
Makes me wonder who the first one was to voluntarily (as in, not banned by Jagex) quit Runescape. Yes, impossible to tell ;)

Admired players~~µ~~2k views
Secondly, he bought/sold RS gp since he started. So why should he be admired at all? Where did you get that "information" from? Since duke freedom was about level 20 i've known him. Just because he had the ability to manipulate the market as he seemed fit together with mctavish doesn't mean he bought and sold on eBay. A little evidence please, before attempting to smear his name. And lets just say he did, you should admire him for knowing more about in-game rs economics (within the time he played) than half of this community combined. you can name any economic topic to do with rs, and he's already researched it, can post links and graphs. thats admirable in itself. I guess his own words will be good enough for you (May, 2006): http://forum.tip.it/viewtopic.php?p=300 ... t=#3003404.

Anyone here do any research in college? Well, you should :D
To obtain my Master's degree in chemical engineering I conducted research on the deactivation behavior of hydrodesulfurization catalysts. Catalysts are used in cars, but on a large scale in oil refinery as well. Since the throughput of the refinery is so huge, the slightest improvement in catalysts will gain big profits. As a result, extensive research is done on those catalysts. From refinery practice, it's known that these catalysts become less active over time. First period of deactivation is a few days, but *very* rapid. This is followed by relative constant activity for about 2 years. Ending with rapid deactivation again. Not much was known about that first initial deactivation that only takes days, so that's what my research focussed on. I mimicked the deactivation stages on laboratory scale by using a test reaction on a catalyst sample. I analyzed it with low temperature infrared spectroscopy and Carbon monoxide as probe molecule. By interpreting the spectra, I was able to obtain generic information about what kind of species were formed on the catalyst surface and by looking at the infrared vibration of the CO-probe molecule I could conclude where the probe molecules preferentially adsorbed. In other words, where the desulfurization reaction took place. This work was later on published in a leading catalysis research journal in 2000. Since I wrote it, I was first author on the paper (woohoo). Afterwards, I went on to do a PhD in the same research group. It didn't turn out quite as I expected and the research grand was cancelled about 3 years into the project (which left me without a PhD title grrrrr). The topic on that was 'photocatalysis'. Some reactions in industry, specifically oxidation reactions are widely used, but are not very selective. Apart from the desired end product, a lot of undesired product is formed during these oxidation reactions. This is simply waste product that can't be used. It's a waste of money and a burden on the raw chemicals. (e.g. in the production of the base chemical for a certain nylon, 85% is considered waste product). The idea was to use light, instead of just yanking the temperature high during these oxidation reactions (leading to low selectivity). Basically, the use of photons was to take over the role of temperature during these reactions: crossing the reaction energy barrier. A proffessor in Berkeley had already demonstrated this to work at low temperatures (around 130 K) on simple molecules as butane, propane and reported excellent selectivity towards the desired oxide product. Low temperature of course is not pheasable in industry. My research focussed on trying to make these photo-induced reactions possible at room temperature. My topic was elucidating the kinetics of these reactions. I worked in a team with two other PhD students. One was focussing on developing novel catalyst materials, the other on making an industry suitable reactor setup (how to get a high light-efficiency?). We built a test set-up including a laser and again infrared analysis of the catalyst sample. Exposing the catalyst samples to the laser, while leading reaction gas over it, should lead to conversion. But, it didn't. After three years of trying all sorts of catalyst samples, different test reactions and laser intensities, we had to conclude that it couldn't be done at room temperature in this set-up. The money stopped flowing and that was the end of my career in research (around 2004) ;)

I grant you 1 million dollars.
Let's see: -I'd take 100k and blow it all in a casino in Vegas. Luxor should be good. - 100k would go to charity. I'm thinking medical research. - 200k to my parents, so they won't have to worry about their pension anymore. - 600k left to spend on a house, a speedboat (nothing too big), a Harley, 10k worth of fireworks and a week in Barcelona with friends of mine. If anything's left after that, I'll invest it in a gadget to smack people in the face over the internet.

Is Jagex taking the piss?
So basically this rant is: "Jagex wishes me to have a nice time playing their game and I'm going to chew their head off for it". I can foresee the sequal to this rant: "Welcome to Runescape.......they are taking a piss at me, because I r having a serious password".

Pure Essence! Did it really work?
One solution could be adding regular and pure essence to the Manage thy Kingdom resources. I doubt it would cut back on the number of auto-ers (see flax auto-ers), but I think it will decrease the price for essence. Effectively cutting the profit for the auto-ers. Mining a lot of essence by yourself is quite a menial job: it costs time while hardly getting any experience in return. Turn on the essence mining option, come back once a day to keep your rating to 100% and voila, after a week you have 10k pure essence. Getting essence can't get much easier than that.

Where are you going to College/University?
Went to Delft University of Technology. Got my MSc degree in chemical engineering in 1998. Eeeep, almost 10 years ago already :-s

Being Open Minded
Open mindedness is living in a country where an openly gay married television host can hold the position of minister in his Christian church. Sadly, he died yesterday because of colon cancer, 65 years old. Jos Brink, I salute you (no English wiki available)

Soft Drugs: What gives?
Here's some information on Dutch soft-drugs legislation. It shows it doesn't lead to a high usage of hard drugs: it does a whole lot better in comparison with USA and rest of Europe. Of course it's not all peachy fine. Since we have this tolerant stance towards cannabis, we get a lot of drug tourists, typically from the UK and France. They cause a lot of trouble, since their specific aim is to get high and/or drunk during their stay here. They overdo it, causing trouble in bars, public and the highways. After years of an open policy, some cities are taking action against coffee shops. Most notably Rotterdam, where coffee shops in close vicinity of schools have to close by 2009. We recently had a French teenager (18 or 19 years old if memory serves me right), high on mushrooms, jump off a bridge. Mushrooms are legal in Holland, however this incident sparked the discussion on whether or not to regard mushrooms a controlled substance. Others claim the Dutch cannabis isn't a soft drug anymore, because after years of improving the crop, the THC content has become way higher than 10 years ago (page 31 of paper has English summary) A complete overview of the drug situation in 2006 (page 68) shows there's some evidence of the genetic make-up of a person influencing their vulnerability to developing pshychological disorders after longterm cannabis usage. This report also shows that the THC content of the tested 'Nederwiet' has decreased by 2% again. For me personally, I never felt a need to try drugs. I know they are available overhere, but that doesn't automatically create a desire to go try them. For those that do have a craving, I think it's better they can go to a coffee shop rather than having to go to some shady dealer in a bad part of town.

My friends, some advice for the future
Little addition to the good advice: Never put an intoxicated individual on his back to sleep. If he/she's too far gone and vomits in his sleep, he might choke on it without waking up. First lead singer of AC/DC, Bon Scott, was rumored to have died like that.

having the next three days no sleep......
It looks like what we call 'kermis' : it's a travelling carnival/funfair. Basically every town has one every year and it typically lasts 4-5 days. The municipality gives a permit for those days to bypass environmental laws, such as noise pollution. So no, it's not illegal, unless they continue till after the evening stipulation (1 am in this case). If you live close, then you'll just have to sit it out I'm afraid.

The decline of Runescape, and how it effects Tip.It.
The mentality change is pretty obvious. A few years ago, if you walked into a bank, you would see people asking for a job to make money. People would approach you and ask if they could work for you. These days, you don't (or hardly) see that anymore: they just straight up ask for free money/items.

The bible
You have been provided plenty already, refer to my last and one before last posts on page 37 of this thread and various links by Warrior. Some issues in my post you failed to adress afterwards by the way. Just because you choose not to adress the link provided to you, doesn't mean it wasn't provided. For your convenience, I'll repost the link, because well, it's too plenty to stick it into one post: http://www.talkorigins.org/faqs/comdesc/ http://www.talkorigins.org/faqs/comdesc/section1.html http://www.talkorigins.org/faqs/comdesc/section2.html http://www.talkorigins.org/faqs/comdesc/section3.html http://www.talkorigins.org/faqs/comdesc/section4.html http://www.talkorigins.org/faqs/comdesc/section5.html As for attacking/defending: maybe one day you can come to the conclusion that evolution theory isn't set out to disprove the existance of a god, but rather gives an alternative explanation to earth and life on it. It's something creationists don't seem to get.
