You are right, to an extent. Yes, athletes do need some type of job security, but paying them millions isn't the way to solve that. As for your comment on athletes requiring a certain breed that so limited, I disagree. Look at how many athletes participate in college sports? Not all of them are cut out for the pros, but there's a lot of people who could survive in the professional leagues. My big problem with overpaid athletes? What's their contribution to society? Exactly. They are entertainers who are overpaid along with actors. Teachers, doctors, etc. actually contribute something to society. Paying athletes less would not rid the world of sports. We might lose some players, but those are the egotistical ones no one wants anyways.
