Yeah and it's pretty much like that everywhere. Still on my work-term in France, been there since may and it's a 2 month work term rather than the usual 6 weeks, but I can still count the days without rain on my fingers Already can't wait to go back to Canada... Then again there are floods a bit everywhere in France especially near the mountains. Let's not forget the flooding currently happening in Alberta (Canada) as well, over 175k people had to get out of their homes in Calgary and other towns a bit north of Calgary, though the floodwaters seem to be receding (According to a few news sources). Even if we have a lot of rain I guess we can count ourselves lucky :S.

What kind of gaming will you do on that laptop? Because with $1000 you won't have a laptop that's able to play games like BF3 at max settings (although won't have any problems with lower graphics).

Are you looking for a laptop or desktop? What's your budget for this computer? And the vRAM doesn't have much to do with how strong a video card is, it's the GPU that does most of the work.

How are you sure that it's a fried motherboard? Can you list what is currently going on with your laptop? Motherboards don't just fry like that especially since your laptop wasn't that old, although still old technology-wise. Do you have a preference for which website is used? I usually use NCIX but most people here use Newegg. For that price range though I'm not sure you'll find a real gaming laptop but you can find something pretty decent for these games. Can you link the $900 laptop you saw?

I'm surprised at how many people don't turn off their phones in the theater. They either don't turn it on silent, so their loud ringtone/text message noises completely snaps me out of the movie trance, or they mute their phone but think that the giant glowing screen isn't noticeable in a dark audience. When I saw The Hobbit, a guy received three phone calls, and started talking while in his seat before slowly walking out of the theater! And then whenever he'd walk back into the theater, he'd be playing on his phone. :wall: Thankfully I haven't encountered someone's ringer going off in years but I still get the occasional person checking a text as if their bright screen is only visible to them. That's why I usually wait a week or so when I go see a movie, almost all the seats are empty and I usually never see anyone on their phones during the movie.

Didn't know cars could last 1997 years. :P

I hope we get cod ghost on the 360, I don't think I'm buying the Xbox One and when I play cod games on the computer (I have cod4 and MW2 on the computer) I keep getting called a hacker which is extremely annoying. Then again these games aren't really playable anymore.

Oddly enough I feel like I'm off topic here, but it's still the "Today Thread" so I'll just go. Today, I drove a Porche Carrera 4S. Probably the only time of my life that I will drive a car like that.

Can't lower a car in Canada, the roads are in too bad a shape for that and is full of holes, probably except Alberta. This means we don't get these ugly lowered cars around here.

Why does everyone rage in CoD. I don't understand, it's a fun game, and skillbased matchmaking just matches us against better players than us, which gives challenge, and personally I like challenge.

Another weekend without internet. I guess that's the price I have to pay for going on an international workterm. Still is worth it though.

Well, today I found out that with the Music app on Win 8 you can listen to any music album free of charge, while still being able to buy it. That's nice to know. Decided to see what Random Access Memories sounded like, and while I rarely listen to this type of music, I found that it was a pretty good album.

Well Chrome currently seems to be having trouble, since the last update, but that would depend on which operating system too. I would do as stated above, try uninstalling and installing flash again.

A full scan with Malwarebytes would be a good idea. Also, uninstalling McAfee and installing either Avast or MSE (free antiviruses) will also provide better protection against these Adware/Spyware.

The weather's the same at my home, and also here in France where there is snow and flooding. The floods started taking houses :S, and it's still raining. I hope I don't have to go back to Canada earlier than expected. Also, I had very bad news this morning concerning one of my friends, who was to be an international student too, he won't be coming, since what they thought was pneumonia turned out to be a tumor, and he is very ill and got transfered to another hospital. We still don't know if it's cancer.. I hope he gets better, would be the second of my friends getting cancer and we're quite young too for those things.

You guys do know that they call it One as in everything in the same box? Rather than making a "gaming" console, they made it a media center. Xbox 360 is pretty much a media center as it is so I guess they could've found a better name.

Depends on how much % of your RAM is in use, the fact that it's DDR2 doesn't change much when it comes to this kind of games. Usually FPS in Rs has more to do with the processor than anything else.

Never had any trouble connectionwise, but I don't know why you guys are saying 2 bullets to kill them as it always took me at least 4, even on my 80Mb/s fiber connection.

If the computer is going to be yours, why not decide yourself and try to convince her that a desktop is better (which it is)? Anyway that computer would've been overkill for all of the things you mentionned, but would have been good for a good 5-7 years if you don't change habits. I'm not sure what websites you have over there for laptops, but I'd say to check with Asus or Lenovo laptops, they're quite good quality.

I think Google Drive could do something like that. Probably not show it in the browser but would at least let the download work.

I don't know how he was doing it, but I have a friend that used to have 2 graphics cards and was using one for physx and the other one for the rest of the stuff. I don't know how he was doing it or if it has anything to do with SLI, but I guess someone here could answer that.

For the first time Ever, I'm outside Canada. Arrived yesterday night in France, and today is kind of a welcome day, since now I'm an international student, and I start work tomorrow. I guess all is good!

It's kind of an irrational hatred, I just don't care for the father figure act he does. That and the whole using his autistic son to make extra ad revenue thing. True, but I like some of his series for entertainment value, not his father figure act or anything like that. I agree with you that it's wrong to do that though.

Well this is the cod I got bored of the fastest. I usually have more than 5 days of gametime at this time of the year, but that's about only what I have and BO2 might also be the first cod that I don't reach max prestige in a while.

Today I changed the spark plugs in my car, the old ones were really worn out. Now my check engine light went on, I wonder how I could have messed up something as simple as changing spark plugs. Car runs much better though.
