Agreed. I HATE seeing innocent people die in the news. Sadly, the only way to help many are to seek out the people who wish to do them harm, and kill those people. It's often the only way. Look at al-Zarqawi....only way to stop him was to kill him. I'm all for a war if the causes are justified. In fact, I'm hoping to one day join the American or Japanese military working not in combat, but behind the "scenes" as a computer engineer. It's not because I like killing, it's because I want to help save innocent lives. If some have to die in the process, as harsh as it sounds, it has to happen. If I was given the choice to have innocent lives mistakenly killed by my military, or let them suffer under terrorists and such, It's kind of an obvious choice imo. :? Sorry to hear about what happened (poster) anyhow, it's very sad. I have a few friends who fled their countries from what was then Yukoslavia (sp?), and also Bosnia. :(

I really enjoyed the movie, and no, I haven't read the book. Unless you have A.D.D. or something, it's not that hard to follow people... :? Blacks are as equal to Whites as they make themselves. It's just that many Black people choose not to live up to "white" standards as far as society goes. I think that's getting better though, you see more educated blacks and stuff like that, but there is still way more in the streets, in gangs, blah blah. Blacks were given the same rights as Whites and they have yet to take advantage of it. They'd rather complain about the "white man" holding them down, or whatever...Just because of racists a-holes like the KKK. Just ignore them? If I were black and a KKK member was yelling derogatory stuff about me, I'd tell him 1874 called and they asked for him to come back because they missed him. Well, that's what a SMART person would do...I'd probably beat him until he said "Black people own!" or something. :P So yea...Racism is what people make it. The KKK is all alone in the world and people actually pay attention to their dumb wagons like "racism" even matters anymore. Most people DON'T CARE. Are you kidding me? I've had this debate millions of times, about "White Entertainment Television." Yeah, if there was a station called that, everyone would be angry. Why? Because half of the stations on TV are considered as white entertainment. I don't agree with the whole idea of making a habit of only casting black people, but really, who cares? Half of the stations I get only cast white people, what difference does it make? We make a fuss about it because it's different. We're not used to seeing an all black cast. If a show has an all black cast, automatically its racist these days, right? :roll: The channel doesn't put down white people, or discriminate against any race. Are you telling me that those Asian channels on tv...which only plays Asian shows, with Asian people, are racist too? Yeah...right. As for BET only showing "blacks doing cocaine", have you ever watched BET before? Probably not, or not very much of it. To add to that, if I say a black man is more likely to shoot me where I live, its probably true. Not racist, but true. Thats the way it is, regardless of what anyone says, regardless of how we run our societies, this is true. There will always be a discriminatory factor. Apparently my ISP secretly bumped my download speeds up from 3mbps to 5mbps, same price! :P So that's why I've been getting such grrrreat speeds lately!

Heh thanks for replying, but everything you said in your post I mentioned I already knew in the topic :wink: I understand the bit and byte difference and all of that, and after some research I finally found most of my answers. However, 1 thing remains unclear...if my ISP provides 3mbps download speed, why is it that sometimes I can (rarely..only once actually) get 1MBps?! It's happened once...usually even around 500 - 700KBps! I thought my max was supposed to be 3mbps??? 500KBps is much greater... Also while researching, I found out that Japan internet users only pay $19USD for 10mbps!!! And only $90 USD for 1gbps! Insane!!! I've gotta move to Japan! :lol: :shock:

Yeah I read that article on CNN a few days ago, pretty crazy stuff. However, the images posted (from howstuffworks) are different, from what I understand. The article is speaking of new technology, new research and new materials. The "invisibility" raincoats developed by the japanese are of a different manner than the invisibility cloak which the article speaks of. So all the images and news from past years is regarding something different.

Hey, Well I've been looking a lot into internet speeds lately, and have a few questions I'm hoping someone can answer for me. What EXACTLY does it mean to have say...a 3mbps connection? The package that I'm on with Rogers (ISP) says my modem is configured to give me up to 3mbps, and 384kbps down. I know it's megabits per second, and I know that 3mbps = 0.375MBps, correct? But what does that mean exactly? When I download off the internet, I usually get 200 - 500KBps, sometimes even up to 1MBps! So what's the 0.375MBps about? :? Also, when I download from, say, torrent sites my speeds are incredibly slow, not because there are a low amount of seeds, just because..well, I dunno why actually. If I were to 'upgrade' to a 6mbps modem, what would that mean for my downloading speeds? Finally, what about you guys? What kind of downloading speeds do you get, and what type of package are you on? Apparently North American internet services are really weak, seeing as the max mainstream you can get for a half decent price is 6mbps @ $50CAD/mo. In Japan and other countries, speeds range upwards from 10mbps for as little as $20 USD/mo. What does it all mean for download speeds?! That's all I really want to know :x Thanks, Bmw

While you guys are semi on the topic of specs, have you seen the hardware requirements for Vista? :shock: The minimum requirements aren't bad, 512mb ram, 800MHz processor, but if you're system is that horrible, why even bother right? You wouldn't be able to run Aero or anything like that... In order to maxmize Vista's capabilities, they're saying they want at least a Gig of Ram, I think it was a 2.4GHz processor, 128MB Video Card w/ Direct X 9 capabilities...etc. High for the "average" computer yes...I built this computer last summer an only barely meet the requirements. Anyone with me on upgrading their system/gettin a new one before Vista? I'll probably grab a new motherboard w/ 64 bit processor, another gig of ram, new video card, and maybe a few sata drives 8-) Ouch, my pocket hurts already. Add on the hefty price tag of Windows Vista, and I'll guaranteed be broke! Geez, how do they expect a 17 year old kid to afford this?!?! :x :wink:

Yep, As of yesterday, Microsoft has publicly released their Office 2007 (Previously codenamed Office 12) software package. It is available for download at the Microsoft Office 2007 Website. Pretty fast download speeds by the way...nicely up to 1MB/s for me while downloading :D :D As a reminder, be sure to check all options while installing the program. It's just a BETA, not meant for mainstream usage, although it should be nearly ready for it. There is an installation option to keep previously existing files, rather than install over them. It's a pretty nice version in my opinion, I've been using it occasionally during Beta 1, which was decently buggy. The problems I had in Beta 1 seem to be nonexistant so far, but we'll see. I'm a huge fan of the interface...love it, but that's just me. --> In addition, Windows Vista was released to Business and IT Pros/Vendors yesterday as well, and will be released to the public supposedly on May 27th. Head over to the Windows Vista Homepage to check things out. However, it really depends on your band's ability. Not even as a whole, just how well each individual can play. I know my school band is horrible this year, it's only me and three flutes who can actually play really well. So as far as really cool tough pieces go, our band can't handle it, unfortunately :cry: All depends on your bandmates. :x
