World Record Held by Runescape Player
I'd argue that the only 'legitimate' accomplishments that exist within any activity are the ones that get you notoriety outside of the communities of that activity. Sure, having an accomplishment of 99 Hitpoints and 98 everything else is cool, but outside of the community, who would care? From reading your posts in this thread, qeltar, it just seems that you're trying to belittle something that someone got into the Guiness Book of Records for. Why are you so against this person getting honored for spending that much time in an MMO, anyway? What do you care? Just let her have her moment in the sunshine. Sheesh.

World Record Held by Runescape Player
A big congratulations goes out to the record holder. That's an impressive feat.

300m Overall Exp in 3 days?
Record overall experience in a week stands at 34M; current Top 42 overall experience in a week stands at 9M. TL;DR version: It ain't 2M. :) I had thought that this guy had simply got insane experience with brawlers and a LOT of Slaying in PvP worlds, but it's still most likely a software glitch. Only way I could think that it could be caused was if the name was overtaken by someone else that had gained tons of experience. If that's the case, it'd probably be difficult/impossible to resolve properly; only thing that could be done would be to take superfluously high experience totals out of the tracker.

300m Overall Exp in 3 days?
Runetracker goes by experience points, not by actual level - the experience points that the player has accrued is equivalent to 107 Range and 108 HP, in total. Looking at the 3M Runecrafting experience in addition to the rest of the 297M experience leads me to believe that it's a bug. It's just insane to fathom that someone could get all of that experience in such a short amount of time.

Closing doors for no reason
Door-shutting bots was one of the reasons that bank doors are permanently open. Besides, I thought that certain doors became stuck after a while.

New Year Message - 31-Dec-2009
It looks like next year will be the year to keep an eye on. I'm anxiously awaiting the next Grandmaster quest, and the new skill should prove to be fun/exciting/the undoing of the rares market. I wonder what their 'theme' will be...

This Year's Scare
Cool story bro. Honestly I can't see anything materializing out of this. It's nothing more than a scare tactic.

Runescape Rants
There's a difference between a rant and a constructive argument. If you want to blow some steam in the quickest way possible, you go to Rants. If you want to actually give feedback about something you don't like, you go to Game Feedback. Truthfully I've seen Rants as scorched earth; the only time moderation occurs (or seems to occur) is when something that really breaks the rules happens. It's not that Jagex needs to clean it up, it's just that they need to buy the inscription about the gates of Hell and hang it there, just to warn people like you and I. [if you didn't remember Dante's Inferno: "Abandon all hope, ye who enter here."]

Jagex portraying Runescape as ONLY a free game?
Well that's pretty presumptuous. I'll address your points in sequence: 1) For some people [read: most college students], $5 is more important; you've got to consider bills, room and board, gas money, food, and all other manners of things before you think about something like a video game. 2) The F2P players that I've met that prefer F2P to P2P aren't arrogant...they're pretty social and are more than happy to have a chat with you. 3) goto 1; I agree that there isn't any experience like first-hand experience, but for some, making an investment of $5/mo might not be the best option, or they prefer the tight-knit community that some F2P enjoy. [btw, 87% of all statistics are made up 41% of the time. Just sayin'.]

Pawyas and grenwalls
It takes a while to catch Pawya...even with the proper gear on, they hide, and can hide for longer than a minute (which makes their exp rates not very optimal). All said, it can be done in about two or so hours; if you have a Fruit Bat pouch, be sure to take that and at least 300 scrolls. They absolutely require the Papaya bait.

Didn't see this one coming...Should prove to be interesting.

15-Dec-2009 Blood Runs Deep
Yeah, I botched the math. 7.6M is what I saved on getting those three Prayer levels. At least now I could probably afford 80 Prayer from where I'm sitting... To the above: The clue scroll level is most definitely 3. I got one from the quest earlier, and if/when I do it I'll report on that.

15-Dec-2009 Blood Runs Deep
Great quest. Loved the storyline, and the fact that I shot up 3 Prayer levels, too. All said, I saved about 26,875,000. Thanks, Jagex. :D

Blarg spawn campers!
The way I've played SC was to either be aggressive, be passive, or be a bit of both - and I've either camped at doors or have had my own base camped at. The biggest thing is that it's a valid tactic, like many unorthodox things in SC are - the point, of course, is to win, and the opposing team can, should, and will do everything in their power to limit you to as few points as possible. That said, I don't really like campers/camping myself. But it becomes a moot point after a while - if you can't gather enough high level clay/make enough high level weaponry to fight back, or your team hasn't done the same, then wouldn't you be in the exact same situation, except at a coveted resource? So yeah. I don't much like campers, but fighting them off is a matter of how good you and your team are in the first place. If they're damn good, then you won't have problems; if they're not, then you'll just be stuck at that 19,999 mark for sixteen minutes.

Warning All Tifers
Well, it's a good thing I'm not the only one that noticed it. I sure hope it gets taken care of quickly, this is a pretty big deal here.

08-Dec-09 Kuradals Dungeon
Honestly, this is the most epic Slayer update ever, I just don't feel like killing Jad ever again. :o Task-centric Slayer dungeon = win, and the ring looks good too. Can't wait to get back to Slayer after I'm done skilling.

Mining Sucks (round 2)
Alright, I know I've been pretty lazy about checking this, but I've been watching the thread, and just biding my time, waiting to reply when it was necessary. (Either that, or I've been buried under an avalanche of projects to do for class. It's probably the latter.) So...without further ado... I'm not trying to make the game easier. How many times do I have to say it? All I want is for the rewards from Mining to increase. Experience, despite common belief, is NOT a reward. All I'm saying is that Mining needs more rewards. Nerf the experience for all I care; I don't give a damn - I just want to be able to get 2-3K Adamant in a reasonable amount of time. What is the point of getting more mith and addy ores if there isn't more xp? Your rant seems to be about not having enough ores to smith. Why not title your rant smithing sucks. There's three points to that, actually - 1) More ore basically means more smithers. 2) Less experience per ore means less people complaining about how easy Mining's become. 3) It gives Mining back its dignity as a proper feeding skill to Crafting and Smithing. That's funny - you don't mention the Haunted mine ONCE in your rebuttal! Wonder why... The Grand Tree mine is the only decent mine out there, but it's still rather ludicrous to try mining bulk Mith/Adamant. As for the Desert/Hobgob mines - I've tried both and was furious of their placement. What sense does it make to put high-demand rocks clear out in the middle of NOWHERE? I especially resented the Hobgoblin mines because of the inherent danger. Call me a coward, if you will - I just don't accept the risk of such a poorly-rewarding mine. What, you missed my post on page 12? Double adamant ores - the effect fires pretty rarely (I've tested this), and it still doesn't make up for the obvious lack of such rocks in the first place. Shooting Stars/SC equipment - I don't care about experience. I want more ORE. Blast Furnace - until recently it was pointless to try this method, but again, doesn't make up for the obvious lack of ores. Pack-Yak/BoB - doesn't make up for the respawn time of most of these ores. Let's see you try harvesting tons of Adamant in an hour with a Pak-Yak. Most of the Mithril ore being brought in are from F2P Cockroach killers. Most of the Adamant bars being brought in are from Aviansies. Mithril bars can be brought in from Dust Devils. Most of the other ores can be found from varying high level NPCs. If you haven't noticed that kind of trend, then you haven't been killing enough monsters. Funny thing about that is those are some of the most popular NPCs to hunt, so it would make sense that most ores/bars are coming in from NPCs.

Java CPU and password
If it's a tower processor, which I highly suspect it is, then anything > 55C is cause for concern. Besides, according to AMD, the maximum thermal for that processor is slated to be 63C. So yeah. I'd worry a bit. So long as his cooling fan gets seated again properly (I really think that's what's causing it), then it'll be alright.

Mining: Powermine Granite or Iron w/ Varrock 3 Armor?
I did 76-77 with Granite. Unpleasant, but at least it was quick. You'll do well there with Varrock armor 3.

Java CPU and password
Welcome to TIF! @Rainy Day: You move fast. We need to put a bell on you so I can wait to post long, detailed posts and not get an IPB error. :P --- It's likely that there are more applications than just RS running in the background. 60C is very, very high for the processor's thermal (I believe it's max is maybe a few degrees more than that). In this case, then either your processor's cooling system (fan + thermal paste) aren't probably assembled, and you'd want to get that fixed right away. If that CPU went over 63C then all bets are off as to if it'll work again or not. Also, contributing to the immense heat, it's likely that your case has accrued several layers of dust. Get some canned air (NOT a vacuum) and blow the air out. Next, Java is a bit of a CPU hog, and it's not uncommon to see it using between 45 and 80% of the processor for CPU-intensive applets, RS being one of them. Admittedly it's high, but since you have a decent dual core processor, it's not much to worry about. Lastly, I think it's impossible to recover an account unless you remembered the username. Not even knowing the e-mail would help that. Sorry.

Moral Victory
Nah, I'm talking about the RSOF.

Runescape
Question of the day: How do you know RS has wrecked your life? Think about it - those 160 days would've been spent on some other sort of distraction anyway (and by distraction I mean game). You can't actually measure how badly RS messed things up unless your life is in shambles, and judging from your post, your life is actually very far from it. ;) But if you think it is messing things up, go ahead and take a break from it for a while. See how it goes. See if RS is really the catalyst here.

Tip.It Forum Skin
It's a wonderful skin, but when I view pages, the scrolling on it lags so badly it's unusable. I'd use it if that weren't the case, but until then, I have to stick with Deflection. :(

Jagex changed my name without telling me... (non-offensive)
Detecting them isn't really non-trivial, but it's not complicated (Unicode characters ftw), but I think it was the right move - it would play havoc with reports and clan chat names.
