  1. About a half a year ago, there was a funny pics thread that was a sticky. it was locked because it took too much mod effort to censor all the bad images and many people didn't get what "keep pics appropriate" meant. About 2 months later, a second funny pics thread emerged, which did good for a while but once again, it was locked because it was too hard to control the thread. Then yet again a third thread appeared, this one was doing fine but was killed in the rollback. Finally, the most recent post-rollback funny pic thread appeared, where today it is in the center of the controversy over project offtopic. I think the mods are right on the funny pictures thread. It's way too hard to have mods constantly patrolling the thread to make sure all the bad images are removed because so many people seem to not realize when they've crossed the line. and to the people who are blaming younger OT'ers for causing this: please, just keep quiet. The reason tipit needed a 13+ rule was because of COPPA. and if a parent fills out a COPPA form, a person under 13 can use these forums. So the whole "it's 13+" thing is pretty invalid. I don't enjoy these threads being removed, but hey, it was necessary to keep this forum under control. If mods start being lenient on the rules and leaving a very flexible border as to what's appropriate, then it becomes difficult to control boards. after all, some mods will tolerate nonsense within reason, while other mods (though not many) can be overzealous and lock-happy and will easily lock any thread that crosses the line remotely. Setting one standard for everyone, both players and mods, to follow makes it much easier to regulate.
  2. I don't know which side I'm on at this point... On one hand, I certainly wouldn't want to have a doctor who had a criminal record, regardless if he made up for it. On the other hand, I'm sure that if I was the person turned down I would consider it unfair that I realized my error and worked to fix it and was still turned down. and on yet another hand the university has the right to refuse whoever they want for whatever rational reason. So I guess it depends on which perspective you look at.
  3. Got my phone at 11, my allowance at 10. My little brother was jealous so my parents gave both to him at age 8. And my brother is the kind of kid who leaves his phone around and doesn't usually know where it is at a moment's notice, and spends lavishly on things he'll never use (he bought an 80 dollar basketball because it was "limited edition" and now it sits on his shelf where he never uses or looks at it. There's nothing really wrong about kids having phones, but it's when they abuse them that something needs to be done. Wanting a brand new phone just because "it looks cool" or "all my friends have it" when your current phone is perfectly fine is not the way to teach kids the value of money. I'm the really frugal person in the family, I try not to spend too much money and always beg not to get too many presents on my birthday or christmas. My brother is the exact opposite.
  4. Ooh I just found a couple more t trail pics from my old computer. I'll upload them when I don't feel lazy :D
  5. Hmm, this rule would take out all my favorite threads, but I do see that it is for a good reason. Goddess quit because of harassment (though I don't know exactly what happened, I know that threads like these certainly don't solve anything), many hurt feelings have been spread to all religions, almost every OT'er innocence has destroyed if it wasn't already gone, and discussions are escalating to flame wars as we speak. Thank you for stepping in.

The only reason I'd see myself being called a racist is because of racist jokes (which I find funny, especially when they poke at my own race). and I only ever tell racist jokes to my friends who I know would not be offended or angry or anything. I would never do anything racist intentionally to anyone and racist jokes I ONLY share with my closest friends. I've seen the news. Racist jokes can cost a man his job, a student his school year, and any person their reputation. Leave the racism for your closest friends and be careful with how far you go with it and I think it can be tolerated.
  7. I wouldn't think its safe to say "I watched this stuff early on, so it is safe for all kids to see it". There are kids who are unfased by the violent and sexual contents of the media and live a normal life. then there are kids who will learn something from it. Nothing good can come out from having a kid watch these things early on, and all it does is increase risk of them doing something stupid or illegal later. What reason could there possibly be to open up violence and sex to a younger person? To expand their sources of entertainment and sex education? is it really necessary? edit: after reading more posts of the thread, I realize that if I end my post on the above questions, I'd get attacked with "did you read the other posts?!?!?!" from dozens of people. So let me clarify some things: I would think that pre-puberty, there's no reason for full on sex ed. Now that doesn't mean puberty education is restricted. kids around 8-10 should probably have education about the changes in their bodies before it happens, so in case they're one of the few girls who get a period early on they won't think they've been injured, or when a kid sprouts a few pubic hairs they won't think they're a freak. However, sex ed should be left for another year or two. Kids around age 10 don't need to care what sex ed is, though girls should probably know what a rape is pretty early. Its easy for rapists especially people close to them to just say "it'll be fun" or "all girls do this". but for sex ed, there's not really a need until around 10 or 12 I'd say, because before that boys probably won't be ejaculating and not all girls will have their period by then. accidental pregnancies or STDs are usually incredibly rare before teen years. In conclusion I don't see a need for the sex talk before around 9 or 10 , though puberty and rape should be covered beforehand.
  8. Darwin Awards, here we come! Believe it or not, signs that say "do not enter" usually have a reason for being there. a teenager has his whole life ahead of him. to end it in an act of pure stupidity is a complete waste of the 17 years where morals and common sense should have been instilled in him by then.
  9. Great job having the guts to lose weight. I always tell myself "one day I'm gonna start a weight loss system for myself and I'll lose 20 pounds in 2 months and I'll feel sexy and I'll get women". In the end, my "weight loss system" is reducing the amount of chocolate syrup on my ice cream and running up the stairs 20 times a day -.- Gosh I need some initiative... maybe this thread will help me go.
  10. i always thought that too, they really dont make that clear enough I second that. One time my dad was drinking a diet coke as he was driving and there was a police car following us and I started screaming "DAD YOU BROKE THE LAW! PUT IT AWAY QUICK!!!" I also had the usual childhood beliefs. Easter bunny, Santa, tooth fairy. In retrospect I realize how gullible I was. and as Zierro said I believed the watermelon thing after watching Rugrats. and as penguingeek3 said I thought pregnant women randomly were impregnated. Damn, I'm surprised how many beliefs everyone shares. and in blue's clues I believed Steve died after he left the show and Joe took his place...
  11. as dozens of people have already said, the media loves to put the blame on videogames. The parents said a computer game for his Wii... what? I don't think the kid is the kind who tells his parents everything. who knows? maybe something happened at school and he managed to hide all his emotions. the last thing he needed was an argument. and of course we can tell the article is trying to point that videogames must be the source in the dispute.
  12. You lucky noob! some people would kill for a double loot. triple loots are incredibly rare. Now if it was a triple spear I'd pass out. 10/10
  13. In my experiences, ignoring just pisses you off (but it does prevent physical conflicts) and adults seldom help. most adults I know prefer to tell you how to handle it yourself with the cliched "try taking to him" response because the last thing they need is an extra conflict to deal with in their lives. Now I have a rather large build. One of the tallest in my class, a rather heavy person (not very fat, but heavy). The people who bully me do it only verbally because they know physically is not an option. I'm not that great at basketball so thats where they really tend to attack me -- on court and in the locker room. They're rather small as bullies go so all I have to do is get in their face and yell at them which works really well. They think I could easily slam them over the head and put them in a coma or tackle them with one hand. Problem is, I'm not a fighter. I couldn't punch a fly. But they don't know that, so intimidation works for me 8-) Do not listen to these guys about "go beat em up". we all know how that ends up. You've seen on the news about one kid getting beaten up by a bunch of other kids and the bullies end up getting jailed or in serious legal trouble. What causes it? verbal attacks from the beating victim. if they bully you verbally and you respond physically, if you're caught you're screwed.
  14. I never expected such positive people : thanks guys and just to confirm... I'll still be playing on f2p. I haven't given up on rs yet  I just won't be on a lot because of rl, but You'll see me around sometimes  but I'm glad you guys are such a happy lot 8-)
  15. and as you can see in the image above, the baby covers the nipple. and politically correct censors tend to consider the nipple to be the offensive part of the breast, while you can see the entire rest of the breast. So really the baby acts as a censor bar... if you're offended seeing the top and sides of a woman's breasts without seeing anything of the nipple, you have issues.
  16. It sounds like a cool philosophy, but... this would mean everything in our universe is impossible to truly accomplish. typing? there's an infinite distance between the Q and W key if you keep dividing by 2. Walking? again, there's an infinite distance that must be conquered between the two steps you take if you divide by two. I mean... does this philosophy make infinity a tangible number?
  17. Thanks guys. and musky, sorry I didn't tell you I quit members. I logged on to tell my friends a few times but you weren't online. I shoulda pmed you, wish I thought of that earlier... I'm surprised you found this thread without me telling you anything lol. Good luck in your travels : I'll still be playing f2p whenever I get the chance.
  18. Pencils dropped but never hit the ground? physics as we know it being defied by the concept of infinity? Ok which moron divided by zero again?!?!?!
  19. Hello everybody! I've been a member for 3 and a half years now. as of this week, I have ended my membership. As I sold all my members things, I decided to make this thread so I can post my glorious moments of my best loots, drops, etc. Enjoy! I know I'm not the wealthiest or luckiest guy out there, as you can go to one of those godsword drop threads and see them earn millions. But I'm proud of whatever I've accomplished as a player and loved my time as a member. First, my bank pic after I sold all my members things, leaving only f2p stuff if I ever get bored and want to play: 48m from selling all my stuff : Now then for my best memories of my days as a member. First, here are my barrows loots. I have also gotten dharok legs, torag legs, v flail, and a guthan spear but lost my screenies of them : [hide=Barrows loots] ^second one [/hide] Next up, my best clue scrolls. I'm a die-hard slayer fan and I get lots of clue scrolls. They seemed to be my main source of profit. I think there are a couple goodies I didn't screenie, but here's what I've got. [hide=Clue scroll loots] ^Forgot to screenie reward immediatly because I was so excited, so I screenied after 8-) [/hide] and of course, my drops. Now I've never been that lucky with my drops. I get excited when I get an item worth over 100k lol. I don't go to bosses a lot and when I do my drops usually aren't that great. But I've still gotten my lucky moments from various monsters, so here they are: [hide=My drops] ^got while getting my kc for a zammy gwd trip. Yeah, I was shocked too. and so were my buddies (see chatbox). It was the only good item of that gwd trip  ^Me and my good friend Musky44. was one of my first gwd trips and was my first ever decent boss drop. ^First and only shard drop. Our team began begging for a hilt right after, though we never got it :? ^first ever rare drop from a slayer task, which had a nice payoff too 8-)[/hide] Finally, here are some random fun moments I remembered to screenie in my members career. [hide=Fun times] ^Its my first ever duel tournament win, with a decent payoff (note the 9m is mine, not the reward. see chatbox) ^Talking to my friend about a noob I met who thought Regicide was a person  ^A load of items I dropped when I was clearing my bank on my last few days of members. ^Mod Michael pays a visit to Lightning chat. the chat was filled quickly and the chatbox moved really fast when he came. ;) ^an unnofficial lightning KBD trip (no good drops unfortunatly :( ) In the process of clearing my bank, I found my unused crystal bow. I couldn't alch it, I couldn't sell it, I had to drop it...[/hide] Well guys, its been a great 3 years of members. I can't tell you of how many fun times I've had, how many people I've met, and how many times I felt really lucky. I'll still play as a f2p (just not as often) but I'll always remember my members days. and who knows? there's a chance I might decide to become a member again some time, and buy some of my stuff back for cheaper than I sold it. Thanks to: Musky44, Tazman104, and all my friends who go on trips with me, share in my happiness, and have consoled me on my losses. Lightning chat and everyone in it- for keeping me entertained, informing me, and keeping me company on my lonely slayer tasks and when I needed people to talk to. I'd have quit a long time ago if I hadn't had you guys. Tip.it and Jagex- for the great game and the people to talk to, and the fun I've had. I'll always be a tipiter and hopefully a scaper. You haven't seen the last of me!
  20. Hey guys just a curious question.. I was playing wifi battles (7200 BR  ) and I repeatedly notice a few players with a tag that says 3 letters next to their name . I think it was [Lnr] or something like that, so the player's name would be [Lnr]Matt. I just notice these players and they all have 8000+ BR (which is pretty hard to get, it took me ages to gewt to 7000). Is this some kind of clan of elite players?
  21. before I clicked the thread, I tried to make sense of the title. boy is it hard to connect the words "property" and "wiffle ball" together unless you know the story... as for the land, I think there's no problem playing on it. the worst that can happen is that you get kicked off by the owner screaming "you rotten kids!!!"
  22. 1) Believe it or not, being raised a certain way tends to affect how you think. I've been raised to believe it is wrong, the Church teaches it's wrong. I still have a mind of my own. I've questioned my religion before when on the brink of turning away from my beliefs but in the end I still feel I should be on the side I feel I belong. as for the "what is wrong" part, my answer is just that I feel it's wrong. I don't crusade against gay people because I can't prove to them that their deeds are immoral unless I point to the church, which they'll never conform to because it's not their faith. If you want evidence, you'll have to find someone who actually crusades against gay people. I just have my opinion that being gay just feels wrong. But I'm not going to start screaming at anyone who says he's gay. If I found out my friend is gay I'd still be friends with him just as long as we never bring up sexuality in discussions. If I found he was gay for me it'd be different. Then I'd put my foot down and state my stance on the issue. I freely admit, besides my own feelings and the way I've been raised and quotes from the Bible, I have no evidence that being gay is bad. But I believe it is wrong so that's my opinion, but again I'm not going to force them on anybody because I can't convince them that it's wrong. and it's not like homosexuals are endangering the world. the only lives affected are them and their families, and that's an argument to be settled within the families and not with the country. I say that if they want to live a life I consider immoral that only affects them then I say let them be. I'll go on with my life staying away from them.
  23. I'm a Catholic. So just the way I was raised, I think homosexuality is wrong. HOWEVER Jesus said "let he who is without sin cast the first stone". I think anti-gay crusades and "god hates [bleep]s" signs are pointless and give christians a bad name. God loves you no matter what, he just doesn't always agree with the choices we make, but he is willing to welcome you back with open arms if you admit you're a sinner. So the argument that God hates a person because of a bad choice (or having bad impulses if you believe homosexuality isn't a choice) is wrong. because in our beliefs, we should stress forgiveness. So to conclude: I think being gay is wrong, but I'm not going to crusade against anyone for it. and anyone who does organize such gatherings *cough* westboro baptist church *cough* is just as much of a sinner. But again, I'm not going to force my beliefs upon people here who are unwilling to agree that being gay is sinful.
  24. When Goddess is patrolling OT, you do not want to make controversial baby threads :-# as for breastfeeding, I see nothing wrong with doing it in public. Its the human body and, as a few others have already said, I'd rather have to look away from a mother's breasts then put up with a screaming child while I'm trying to eat my meal. My only issue is that I have a little brother who acts immature when he sees a lady in a bikini on TV. If he sees an old qwoman's breasts, he'll ruin our dinner. So yes she should at least attempt to hide it for the sake of the curious children around her, but if you can still see it you shouldn't complain. Just turn away and continue your meal. at least this woman has the decency to keep her kids quiet and happy, while other parents would quickly pretend they don't know the child and continue their meal.
  25. Aww such a cute baby!!! the baby reminds me of an adorable chipmunk. Gratz uncle dragoonson!
