It affects the way I write and draw alot... For example, when I'm listening to hardcore metal and stuff like that, my pictures get a lot more violent and my humans lose their thing that makes them look human, as opposed to vile killing machines. Also, my stories become a lot more violent when I'm listening to metal. And the same goes vice versa.

Hmm... Are you looking for Multi-player as well? But, I have a ready suggestion that I think will fit your needs: The Orange Box. It's got almost everything. For guns blazing, you can try the Half-Life games included, or go for the mother-of-all Online FPS's and play TF2. Or, if you're looking for humour and challenging puzzles, try Portal. They all come in the Orange Box.

Mad at crappy games? Hell no! I can use them as comparisons to make the games I like seem better to other people. :P Anyways, I'm not mad at the excessive gore, it can be quite good if done realistically, I'm just mad when they over-use it and it, quite frankly, looks sub-par to the rest of the game, like someone just went, "What would sell some more copies? Hell, let's make an arm fall off everytime you stab someone!" And I know that gore can be good when executed well. You're talking to a guy who idolizes Jigsaw. :P

Yeah, it seems to me that sometimes games resort to excessive violence because they have no interesting gameplay to fall back on, just bucketloads of blood and gore. Sometimes it adds to the realism and tention, but sometimes it contributes to it's crappiness. Gore in moderation is good, but you don't need to go over the top. Unless it's in a humourous way. Or, like a Anatomy lesson. (TF2 anybody?)

Oh, and I forgot Silent Civilian. Anything by them, though I need to give a special mention to 'Lies In The House Of Shame'. Great song.
