No, it has 4 cores which becomes 8 (2 threads per core) with hyperthreading. There will come 6/8 core Nehalems, but not yet. The only current actual 6 core is a couple of Xeon's.

Yep, a 750 one (i think almost all ones are 80+ certified in this area) with one of the brands above will do nicely. I don't know how the 9450 and 9550 clocks compared to eachother (check some forum or a review for that), but generally speaking, since the 95 is higher clocked from the beginning it should clock higher, yes. But then you also have to count in the memories, motherboard and cooler to what speeds you can achive. But both will be good.

Say you add 4870x2, a psu of a well known brand (such as; corsair, seasonic, ocz, fsp) a 550w one would do the trick. But you don't got much room to upgrade and it will create quite a noise. 650-750 is what i'd recommend, but it depends if you plan on adding more hardware in the future. If you don't want an 4870x2, 4870 or 260 (i wouldn't recommend 9600gt for your setup). Make sure the case can fit the graphics card! I'd also get a q9450 instead, cheaper (at least in my country) and you could overclock it to the speed (or more) as an q9550. Altho i'd recommend a custom fan for that.

Since you don't get many good drops from them there, i didn't really look at the ground. But then i saw something red, and what?! Dragon spear! I checked the beastiary info, but i didn't find this drop there. So i thought i'd submit this.

I had a strange drop today. I nerfed my slayer task (too bored to deal with 197 black demons) and got 18 ice fiends from turael. Ran around and killing them, since you don't get anything good from them i didn't look much on what was dropped. But i saw something red lying there, and what?! Dragons spear! Aha, i see.. Linux. I honestly cannot say how a *nix system would react on two different drivers (i don't think the 6 series uses the latest drivers). I do know that two different drivers are not possible for Vista, however, it does work on XP. ATI has actually started working more and more on drivers for Linux the last year, but Nvidia drivers are still way ahead (compared to support on ATI cards one year ago til today on Linux, there's a big difference). And you are right that it'd be less of an issue using a 2nd green card (wrote the other post right in the morning lol). I know it is possbile to use two different cards for more monitors, but i don't know the (as stated) how the penguin would react to it, but i know it works on XP. I'd switch the card to an 8400gs or 9400gt (both works fine), if you want to play rs on bigger res with graphics turned up.. Again, it's what i'd do, you're deciding=) Any of these psu's will work fine: Corsair vx450w 80plus - 70$ after rebate, Antec earthwatts 500W 80plus - 50$, OCZ 400W 80plus - 40$ after rebate, SeaSonic 400W 80plus - 50$, Corsair 400w 80plus - 55$ after rebate These are all quality manufacturer. And you'll have room to get a couple of more harddrives and change the gpu if you want to. I'd probably go for one of the 450-500 if you want to change your system later/putting in a couple of more hd's.

Otherwise, get something like this or this, i don't know if you notice any lag in what you're doing... If you do, you'll notice a difference. Personally, i'd get a new card... But that's me. Nadrils sub 400$ thread is probably in your area, some good builds for a good price in there.

I've checked Newegg and Tigerdirect, and noticed you can't buy the i7! I checked two (very well known swedish internet stores) and they will start shipping the orders tomorrow (17th november). Really, since you do things that will use the power of i7... I can't really suggest you to buy a current c2. Call Tigerdirect or Newegg and ask them when they'll be able to ship one of the i7's to you, i honestly can't recommend you a core 2 for you work (yes core2 is very fast and good, but in his areas the i7 blows them away). Memory manufacturers will release 3-sticks pack for the i7 (such as 3x2gb or 3x4gb), since i7 gets a performance boost from 3/6-way. Those will work and within the specs (some current ddr3 memories are over 1.65v, which is over Intels recommended voltage setting). Of course you can buy some current ddr3 memories with 1.65 (or lower) for it, but hear with the store first. As for a graphics card i'd recommend (if you like gaming, otherwise you can something like 9800gtx or 4850) HD 4870, GTX 260 or HD 4870x2 (read reviews for performances). And yes, get Vista 64 bit!!! Of course you can get a 9550, but the i7 really kicks [wagon] in rendering. For Q9550 (or Q9450 (don't know how they are price-set in other countries)) get 4gb of ddr2 (ddr3 isn't much of a jump in speed) in pc6400 or pc8500 and with one of the above gpu's. I base this on that you'll use this pc for continued rendering and modelling. @Nadril: Oo right, i forgot about those workstation cards from Nvidia and ATI. Those, i do not know much about. I was impressed by the details in the Starcraft picture. I'm not into these sort of things, people like to do different things... Doesn't make you stupid just because you go to some sort of convention.

Great price for the cpu, not so great price for the motherboard+memories. The 920 is really price worthy for it's performance, but then you have a motherboard and memories which costs the same as the cpu, which doesn't make it really price worthy (unless you have the money and can use all the power). For converting movies, making zip-files etc, it's much quicker with it than a Q9650 for example (if i don't remember wrong, the three i7's we can buy now are actually server cpu's). But for a gamer, it's not worth the price (about 1-10fps boost)... Get a E8600, clock it to 4ghz and throw in a 4870x2. One of the problems with the i7 is that it's very sensitive to volt, even tho it overclocks very good, you gotta be more carefull with it than any core 2 of today. The new mainstream cpu's from Intel doesnt come until 2nd or 3rd quarter next year (again, if my memory is correct). A side note; I was surprised to know yesterday, that AMD will keep Deneb (updated Phenom) until 2011 (according to their roadmap). It performs (according to some tests, don't have the links) better (don't remember how many %) than the current core 2's, but will have an attractive price.

Total Annihilation. I remember we got with a pc we got back in 98, and this game came with it, it's truly amazing. Even from 97, and being rts, it's great graphics! (SC is basically a face-lifted TA, which i also really like) Games don't attach me that much, but i think i will always remember this game, it's simply amazing. I still got the original cd's! (and back ups of course, don't wanna break those cd's) I also must mention, err, Runescape! Now it's nothing special. But i remember those 2+ years in classic, they were really fun and special. Also games like old Thief, UT99, TA:Kingdoms, Shenmue 1&2, (a new game) Assassins Creed, Lemmings - Amiga (such a fun game!) and many more that i can't remember as i'm writing, but the two above are the ones i'll always (hopefully) remember.

I'm all for equal pay and that we should be treated equal. Not that this is one subject think about often, as i think there are currently bigger issues... Well, Sweden... still differs in pay a bit but it's quite equal, atleast compared to many other countries. We should be payed equal for the jobs we do, yes, but depending on what we can perform in that job area. Say something like construction working, a man would get more things in this particular area done as he has more muscles and thus can perform more work than a woman in the same time, and in such a case i don't think they should be payed equally. But say something like a teacher (they should get better paid anyways) or a salesperson, they should be paid equally since they can perform just as much as the other gender. And i don't have a problem with a woman doing a previously man-dominated area, or vice-versa. It's a good thing, more views on how you can solve a problem... etc. And uh, i've had beers with girls at the pub... No problem there.

Don't know if i should post this, not really knowledged about this matter. But... You could either try loading the default settings in BIOS or flash the BIOS to the latest version. Have you tried connecting the hd to another computer? I'd check that...

I think it's because the medicine-industry got a hold on many politicians. They earn so damn much cash, and don't want it seen legalized. Weed could be replaced for many current medicines... =The industry would loose cash because it would be cheaper and you get rid of all those side-effects, also... As you can grow it at home for quite a low cost, you'd save so much cash compared to buying all those pills.
