Eh, all I can say is that it's existed for years, only no one has really known about it. It's done well enough, I can't pretend to know whether or not it really makes a difference in our taxes. I really need to go to bed now.

^Now we're on the same page. I sincerely believe that most would prefer not to go by assisted suicide in favor of hospice, but as you said I'm not exactly experienced in where a person's head is in that situation. And if they really think that assited suicide is the better way to go after evaluating both choices, then I guess no one can really stop them. But this Kevorkian dude has his head in the wrong place, he really shouldn't be doing what he does.

They do have a choice, my entire post was about the choice of hospice care, which I'm sure most people would prefer to just taking a pill and snuffing it, their last memories being ones of pain and suffering. I sure would want to at least give hospice a try, it's very effective. If they find that it doesn't work for them for whatever reason then that's a different story, but we sure as hell don't need people like Kevorkian out there telling people that his way is the best and only way. By your logic $100,000 worth of hospital bills is going to cure depression eh? No one here has the ability to judge against this unless they have personally been in the situation. As healthy folk we don't realize the level on which these people live. We overlook it. So what makes Kevorkian better at judging such things? My problem is that he prevents hospice from being realized as an option, so they think that his way is the only way. And I think that is inhumane. If you were somehow conscious after death, how would you like to realize that you just lived the last few weeks/months of your life in a really crappy situation, and died that way, because some self-righteous freak of a doctor told you that it was the only way? Instead, you could have spent time free of pain and distraction with loved ones and made the end of your life a happy one. And I didn't really see the significance of your hospital bill statement. Yes, hospice care is going to relieve depression, and there is no bill there to compound it. Hospice only charges what you can pay, heck if you can't pay it's free! You are not going to receive a hospital bill for hospice care, so I just didn't get that :?

I usually just shrug stuff off, I completely forget about it soon after seeing/reading it unless I find it really interesting, in which case the fear is driven away by enthusiastic thoughts :thumbsup:

Well An0r, you'll see how you like it if you have a deadly disease that causes you to be in pain all the time, to never be able to get up of your hospital bed, to feel you are a nuisance because you drain all the free time of your family that goes to see you, to have to pee through a tube and have nurses strip you in order to change clothes, to lose all dignity, and to have nothing but a slow death in front of you. You'll see how much you want to live. People live in those conditions because they have doctors like Matthew Fox's character on Lost, who are desperately trying to keep you alive a little longer to live in those misreable conditions. No one wants that, you are correct, but it's people like Kevorkian that convince them that suicide is the only way out. It's not, there is this wonderful practice called hospice care that caters to spiritual and emotional needs while people are in those positions, instead of futilely trying to keep them alive. They don't die alone in intensive care with doctors bending over them, they can be at home surrounded by family and die a natural death. hospice simply makes the last legs of their life as easy and comfortable as possible, by relieving physical pain and giving them emotional support. Depression is an enormous influence on people's decisions, If they were under hospice care that was making their life as good as it could possibly be then they would not be depressed, therefore would not likely consider assisted suicide. Depression is, I think, the number one reason for suicides? Assisted suicide is no different; the only difference is that you have a physician handing you the pill with a big smile on his face.

That's a depressing list :cry: That's the kind of person that I absolutely would not put up with, you can do better than him. If you can't trust someone, stay away.

I hate that dude. I did a presentation for an oral communications class against assited suicide, there's absolutely no reason for it. That guy thinks he's doing so much good... :shame:

The whole world is paranoid :roll: There is absolutely no point in worrying about anything like this, no country is going to be stupid enough to initiate nuclear hostilities. Everyone here is going on predicting what the consequences will be of Russia launching nukes at the shields, blah blah, it's not going to happen because if someone doesn't survive to completely obliterate them then they've destroyed the world.

Wikipedia was a good concept and is still a good source to start research with, but it has been ruined somewhat by the vandalism. For example, my high school is part of a pretty big inter-city rivalry and students at the other schools like to go on and post degrading things about our sexuality and such on our school's page. And Wiki isn't all that great at catching stuff like that, because there is an alumn who checks it daily and has to fix those things, which happen almost daily. Wikipedia is still a good place to go to point you in the right direction for research, but it jusyt isn't as reliable as was originally intended. See, even the creators don't like it anymore. The reason that site was made is because Wikipedia got out of hand.

Elvarg. People were always like, "Omg its so hard you need to be at least lvl 60!!!" Well, I got impatient at lvl 52 and went in with a full inventory of lobbies. Finished with like, 7 lobbies eaten :-s Also the Desert Treasure bosses. Obviously, the 360 has sold more than the Wii 'cause it has been out longer. But I think the 360 will fall to the power of Wii. Nintendo made a smart move when they made the Wii to be user-friendly and widely appealing, it's good for marketing. All the hard-core gamers out there right now are going "360 PWNS YOU!!" because they can sit for hours with a copy of GoW or Halo and play online, which is what really merits the 360, the online play. Along with graphics. And I think the next generation console wars will eventually come to a head on the issue of online play, and based on that the 360 is winning. But the 360 didn't come out of the box with online play ready, and nor has the Wii. But Wii's online play is building momentum, the Opera Browser has been released and is frankly amazing, the first Wi-fi game for Wii (Pokemon Battle Revolution) is coming in June, and the summer will bring a slew of amazing games. Titles like Super Smash Bros. Brawl (Wi-fi Play) and Metroid Prime 3: Corruption (Online unconfirmed) will give Wii the momentum it needs to overtake the 360. The lack of games for Wii will be healed over time, just as is the case with any console. I belive that Wii wins out in the end. Note: I didn't even mention PS3, and for good reason. It's out of the race by anyone's standards.

If you were already dead, then you should have died. You probably lost your last hitpoints while the food animation was taking place, so you died before it restored health. Yes, it kinda sucks, but it's been like that forever. Oh, and don't wait so long to eat food.
