  1. It's not about it being "wrong." The issue I have is that it damages the RS economy, and on top of that, does not do what it is intended to do. I'm not looking to purchase any rares at the moment, nor do I plan to in the near future, with the possible exception of a SS. That can hardly be considered a rare at this point though.
  2. I believe that this is the reason, and agree with the view put foreward by Dan, above. I don't understand why almost everyone else can't seem to understand this. Erichermit even showed Jagex explicity stating that you should take 'history' with a pinch of salt to say the least. Why would the average person know what happens in the hardest and longest quests? Only, what, like a handfull of people know what happened in the depths of Lumbridge in While Guthix Sleeps. Just as it is in real life; the truth from actions of old will only come with the deepest reseach into them. Or the internet is invented, and information is assimilated through the masses in mere minutes. Yeh, but that's mechscape.
  3. This is in the wrong place. No one cares about your experiences, and if they do, they can look on the proper board to find it. This does not belong in General Discussion, as it holds no discussion value. Please do not recreate this thread again. I'm sure it will be locked soon.
  4. At the start of the game, this is what your character assumes to be true. Through quests you discover, and uncover, the true history.
  5. Wow your post is absolutely unintelligible. I take it english isn't your first language. I tried, but i just couldn't make any sense of this, sorry. You have turned into an absolute, arrogant [wagon]. why? I actually wasn't being an [wagon] here. I really just don't know what he said. Usually I can figure it out if i really try, but this just seems like it has multiple sentences mixed together, while leaving off the points of each. If you can make it out then let me know, but I just couldn't make sense of it. Anyway, I just like having an alter ego on the forums. If you ever talk to me in game I'm actually really nice. I'm usually one of the first to volunteer if someone needs help with something.
  6. Any part. Clues are like boots and key halves; they happen randomly for any settings in mtk. well that's strange considering i have never gotten one edit: i just checked you need to have fishing going to get caskets which may contain clues or half keys or such rewards

  8. what part of MTK gives clues? I've never gotten one, but i have it set to herbs and lumber

all your base are belong to me Shouldn't you be contributing? I just couldn't resist that old meme. Besides, I already stated my thoughts on the first page.
  10. Y'know you're really annoying right? I know, but it's still true. well no, it is false. Jagex stated that items could only rise 5% a day, and a rise of 26% in one day is (if my math proves correct) in fact over 5%. so something must have happended at Jagex hq or else the Ge is just randomly bugging suddenly after being out for over a year... ps. i suggest you dont spam, you are basiclly saying you have no opinion on the matter by not stateing one in eather of your spam posts. I expressed an opinion. Considering the fact that Jagex is now posting all their updates, it seems to me if they did adjust the GE, they would say so. Due to the fact that they haven't, I really don't think that Jagex is doing it. There is also no reason whatsoever that an item's price change should be limited to 5% per day. If that were the case it would gravely limit its functionality as far as supply and demand are concerned. The shifts are well within the working parameters of the GE, in my opinion. The thread was posted as a statement of fact that Jagex is altering prices, however there is no statement from a J-mod to back this up. All we have is prices fluctuating. Therefore, I said that this topic has no discussion value. If it was a discussion about price fluctuations and what may have caused them, then I wouldn't say that. However, since the OP basically made this out to be all Jagex's doing, I don't see what's worth talking about. By the way, The fact that you can only trade within 5% of an item's cost does not mean that's all it can change per day. Jagex rarely loses any words on how the GE works or when they change something of it. It makes sense so nobody abuses such knowledge. Same goes for drop changes of many monsters. There were, are and always will be hidden updates. Usually with such things, the make a vague statement. I would expect something along the lines of, "We have begun adjusting the GE prices of some of the more 'hot ticket items' to better reflect their value to players. We hope this will stimulate their trade through more conventional means. Expect to see more minor price changes in the future."

WGS required high levels, but honestly it wasn't nearly as hard, or long as some other quests. The boss fights were a bit of a joke, and there were no cryptic puzzles that took real complex thought to figure out. I think WGS may have just been the precursor, and Jagex might have something huge in store for us.

  15. this topic has no discussion value. There is no concrete evidence that jagex has touched prices. Until someone from jagex releases a statement, this serves no purpose but wild speculation.
  16. adrenal don't bump 2 year old topics but 20
  17. and so many people study christianity so well .. both are fictional fairy tales ... whats the difference ? Well, you can summon bears in both... (2 kings 2: 25-26) haha the story of elisha nice one
  18. For such a mundane subject you don't know very much about it. What does that make you? Oh and who ever said anything about taking an economics class? I haven't taken one, I'm still in high school. The merchants don't rule the economy, the consumers do. The merchants only raise their prices when the consumers are willing to pay more for an item. Again, its about supply and demand. You clearly don't understand anything about economics. the consumers you mention, that are willing to pay such outrageous prices, are other merchants. The general population neither can, nor is willing to pay these prices, therefore merchants trade among themselves. This is the point Lep was making, and it is a good one. Prices aren't set by the public, they're set by merchants. If you honestly have 400m to buy a spirit shield, then you've been doing something horribly wrong.
  19. I came up with the name Magzar to use in games when I was 12 or 13. It started out with text based mmorpg's and moved into runescape when it was released. I just thought it sounded like a strong fantasy name. Later I found out it's a place in afghanistan. go figure.
  20. The first part is true, the second part is not. Ideally, Jagex shouldn't need to pay attention to the market, it is not their job to push around the prices how they wants. They need to set up a program which tracks the street prices more accurately and faster, the current one is not good enough. As long as the two are within the GE % limit, it will be fine. The part that Jagex provide in this RS economy is that they play the role of the government. In that role, they create taxes (N/A to RS) and Price Controls (Grand Exchange/Trade Limit). Don't get me wrong, the GE made my life a lot easier, I'm sure people will all agree to that. However, for the special items such as rares/discontinued/3rd age, the price control has to be either extremely well monitored, or not controlled at all. In real life, price controls are used for political advantage (rent control). In RS, price control is used to prevent RWT. Theses price controls all will cause excess demand/supply causing erratic price changes and a second form of market being formed (black market, junk trade, bribe, etc etc). With a Price ceiling predicted at the right place, Jagex will require a hiring of a brand new department to not only conduct surveys to predict a supply and demand curve, but also predicting where the price will land. It just comes down to if Jagex wants to spend the money and keep the RS market up or just leave it as it is and hope for time to erase their mistakes. That's what the GE system was designed to do. Jagex didn't anticipate players refusing to use it and stalling out prices. Jagex did their job by installing a system that would work if it were used. The have no responsibility to hold our hands because we don't use the system they gave us to keep prices where they should be. We were supposed to do it ourselves, just like we always have.(just by different systems)
  21. If it doesn't matter to you then don't post. What the hell is wrong with you? I mean honestly why post something that contributes absolutely nothing to the discussion? (man i'm an [wagon] on the forums) you are an [wagon]. and really thick headed, you yourself make a lot of what i would call spam. you make dozens of posts stating the same opinion and trying to correct others even when you have been proven wrong on multiple levels!(stares at junk trade thread) ot: people please stop posting for a guthix godsword. it has been deemed illogical many times, and would not make sence meaning he is not present durring the god wars. I'm only really an [wagon] on the forums though. That's my thread by the way, I'm posting in it expressing my opinions and beliefs. I'm not posting in 5 different threads just to say "oh I don't really care." I agree about the godsword. They were the weapons of the God Wars. I think going back further would make more sense for a godweapon of Guthix. Perhaps all the way to the time of the Dragonkin. Because guthix was the first God to come to Gielinor, the first humans were followers of Guthix. Perhaps a weapon granted to his followers by Guthix to defend against the Dragonkin would make more sense. Obviously an immortal race would have to be immune to normal weapons, otherwise internal battles among their civilization or the introduction of other races would have wiped them out completely. The fact that some still remain seems to signal that they can't be vulnerable without some kind of enchanted weapon's influence. yusomean -.- ino
  22. Lulz what a........... noob! :ohnoes: taking away trading is a bad idea, it limits convince ( buying a dds at bh) and player to player interaction. and its his fault he had to sell for all of the junk, he should of either never bought it or keep it , wait for any rebound, or just leave it in ge and overa long period of time it will sell. but the other guy who bought 65 d chain, why shouldn't he be able to do it? if he had the money good for him, are you just jealous that you don't or you haven't? " he shouldnt be allowed to do this because i didnt think of it first." PereGrin that is the dumbest statement i've ever heard, worst than Magzar's first page. i can't believe people like you are allowed to use these forums ,seeing you don't add anything logical for discussion value. all i want for Christmas is this topic to be locked :D magzar afraid of replying on my post on page 16, stating why this topic is just for attention and nothing more? OK a few points that need to be made. 1. Learn to use reading comprehension skills. Peregrine wasn't suggesting that, he was talking about someone else who suggested it, and saying how absolutely stupid the suggestion was. The thread he linked to was posted by 123yourgone. So I can't believe people like you are allowed to use these forums, considering you have no reading comprehension skills. 2. I did not create this thread because I'm having a hard time buying or selling a rare. I did not create this thread to create controversy or a hot topic. I did not create this thread for any other reason than to share knowledge and opinions on what I believe to be a horribly flawed system. I did this in the hopes that awareness would lead to ending the practice and promoting healthier trading practices. 3. I didn't respond to your ridiculous post because it had no discussion value. We weren't talking about buying bolts and poisoning them, which was very very profitable at the time, or anything close to that. Your post was useless fodder, and as such I ignored it. Stop whining for my attention and get a life.
