I am thrilled they took basic resource gathering out of the assist system, now I can go to Catherby and fish in peace :D

Every time I go on a chicken killing spree for feathers I get them mime event.

As always, another excellent guide qeltar. I am totally in favor of removing assist on the basic resources. Fishing in Catherby is getting close to unbearable with all the assist begging going on. And the best with fishing is all the people that get an assist to catch shark then have to beg for a cooking assist to cook it , I am hoping once the novelty wears off people will just start refusing to assist these basic skills.

I would have to say I am about 97% self sufficient ...I mine all my own ess to craft all my own runes, make vial for potions, catch and cook all my own fish, churned 247 buckets of milk into butter just yesterday, pick and spin my own flax ...you get the picture ....if I can do it myself I do, that is what gives me enjoyment and a sense of accomplishment in this game. The only things I purchase are armor, weapons and I run laws since I don't have the talisman to make them myself yet. Sure it takes alot of time, but then I don't have to worry how much every alch costs or how much it costs to kill a dragon ...it doesn't cost me a thing except time.

My only problem with this update so far is all the people begging for assists, and the fact that all you can do is stand there while do the skill. I was fishing yesterday in Catherby right after the update and the beggers were unbelievable...I was fishing swordies for myself because I needed to restock my food supplies and therefore shut off my assist. I had people following me around begging me to assist them. I tried to politely explain that I was fishing because I needed the fish, not just the XP, and was called a noob on several occasions. And the people who could fish sharks were really being bombarded. I rememeber when I taught my kids IRL how to fish, thereby "assisting" them, I showed them what to do, and then proceeded to fish alongside them, keeping an eye on them to make sure they were ok ...If this were the case in RS I would gladly assist, but I cannot always just stand there and do nothing while someone else does the skill.

Quick question ...while assisting someone with a skill are you allowed to do anything? For example ...I am currently fishing in Catherby and someone asked for assistance with fishing...can I also fish if I assist this person or do I have to stand around and do nothing?

I've never had them as a slayer task, but I did run into them whilst doing jungle potion quest ...my levels are lower than yours and I found them very easy and sort of fun to kill...I would do the task, just don't forget your bug light :D

You can pick flax and spin it into bowstrings if you want to get your crafting up .... bowstrings are selling for 200 ea ....spin 1k of flax a day into 1k bs ...sell for 200k ...you will have your mil in 5 days

Well it's good to know there are good prizes possible. I always choose the box but so far have only gotten cabbage, buckets, or less than 1000 gp.

I am a stickler for spelling and hate it when people spell things wrong on purpose...I don't mind the abbreviations as it can be a pain to spell things out, especially if you are selling something and trying to be quick. L33t speak drives me crazy ...usually ignore these people even when I have something they want to buy.

hmm...well if I'm not mistaken chaos runes go for about 100 -125 ...so you definitely got the good end of that bargain ...but you gave him every opportunity to do the research and find the price and decide for himself what was fair and what wasn't. My son plays rs and sometimes he makes what in my opinion are some pretty poor trades, but he doesn't care...he just likes trading ...so win or lose he's happy. So maybe this guy is the same way, young and just thinks trading is cool. Either way I wouldn't lose sleep over it.

other than ZMI ...the fire altar is right by the duel arena bank and gives a teeny bit more XP per rune than earths

If you are not looking to make mass quantitites of the same rune for re-sell and are just crafting for XP, the ZMI altar is defininitely the way to go. The banker is a dude that walks around at the entrance and will let you bank for 20 of the same runes ....I had tons of body runes and mass quantities of fires from slayer tasks, so those are what I use to bank.So when you use this altar, fill one slot with the runes you are going to use to bank and then 27 pure ess and craft away. Of course if you don't want to spend runes on banking you can run or teleport to a regular bank.

I can confirm that your house will be there, just as you left it, when you return to membership.

Not everybody that drop trades is doing it for "illegal" reasons. My son and I play from the same computer and therefore cannot trade in game. There are times when I see someone selling something I know he has been looking for or vice versa, but we would never dream of buying it for the other because it would require us breaking a rule and drop trading :-w

no problem here ....took a couple seconds longer when I first logged in this morning, but nothing as long as you describe.

Usually skills ....do combat to get slayer up, and I enjoy castle wars and do pest control once in a while and spend points on herb packs

:oops: I used to steal arrows before I knew better :oops: Now if I see someone ranging I will not pick up arrows, or If I am in a crowded area where arrow thieving is a problem, I will pick them up and then give them back to the ranger in a one-sided trade.

I always use it towards whatever skill I am training when the genie pops up

you pay him with actual runes, not ess ...so you can't note them any way, and it lets you pick which runes you want to pay with. I am having mixed feelings about this update. Great amount of XP per trip, but it lets you craft runes that are higher than your current rc lvl. I don't know...right now I am lvl 34, will be lvl 35 after my next trip ....but I have mined every ess and crafted every rune to get to that lvl (I like to do things the hard way). It sort of takes away from people who have gotten their lvls high enough to craft a certain rune, because now anyone can.Obviously not in the quantities they can, because this altar is random, but I feel at lvl 35, and not having done the quest to get the talisman, I really have no business crafting laws. I am wondering if the higher your rc lvl, the better the runes you get. I will start keeping track of what I get on each run, would be great if others could too, and their rc lvl on that trip.
