  1. herblore is a skill which can be bought easily and does not involve that much clicking altogether with the "make x" option now so imo 99 herblore is not that great although i do agree any skill cape is a good sign of having achived something. i didnt know FM capes were rarer than range capes, i just thought most people were not as motivated to get a FM cape as the cape is not regarded as highly as some of the other capes. and rc has definitely risen up a few notches after nat running being no longer possible...
  2. yea barrows was affected but with no wild i doubt anyone will need to be afraid of the abyss anymore =( introduction of dumb revenants as a replacement for pkers is a great insult to human intelligence.
  3. turtlefemm really made me view the pathetic 30k trade limit from a differen point of view. im certainly not as philanthropic as him but every once in a while i do try and fulfill a wish of a random stranger who tries his luck by asking me. most of the time its the usual rune items which i always have surplus (especially helm) from all my slaying. well looks like i can no longer give plates, kites or legs...sad to say i can no longer give/receive gifts from friends during birthdays, festive seasons or when achievements are met too. lol i still remember the last gift i gave was a dark cavalier as a bdae prezzie to lady heinous. (well if i had gotten a black cavalier instead i would have given it to her =P) initially i thought the allowance with quest points would be the number of quest points u have X 3k but i guess this update really kills the spirit of giving...all i can hope for is that jagex will remove it when real world trading becomes insignificant (a hope which is rather bleak i know) well i'm sure there are other alternatives to combat rwt...if jagex was determined and committed enough to get rid of rwt without harming the larger portion of runescapians im sure they can think of something, what with how advanced technology is becoming.
  4. i agree rares are silly, and the owners and shallow and pedantic. i suppose you 2 are new relatively new players to the game and most probably joined only after rs2 came out...among my rare collections ive a purple and even though its the cheapest and i can upgrade it anytime i want i'll never do so. why? cause i got it when my best friend irl pulled a cracker on me back then :D unfortunately he has stopped playing rs since  but im still good friends with him irl so i'll never sell that purple phat away or do anything stupid with it. those of you who say rares are dumb and the owners are shallow, think again cause i'll bet you my life i'm deeper than u guys for keeping the purple phat my friend pulled on me 5 years ago and not exchanging it for a blue even if i could.
  5. oh well i did dust devils from around 92 to 99 def (thats like half of the total exp needed from lvl 1-99) and all i got was over 100K fire runes and close to 3k rune arrows ftl. oh well i wasnt really expecting a d chain then but my lucky friend got one within 100 kills of dd >.> i have to say that a 50 run streak at barrows is indeed really bad luck but perhaps u did it after jagex nerfed it...when barrows just came out my best day was 4 verac helms in a stretch of 20 runs and i must have made at least 30+M from it but they have lowered the drop rates substantially over the months... well if u ask me i'll suggest u try dk'ing (with trusted friends) because there are 3 bosses there who all drop 3 fairly sought after items making that 9 items...and their drop rates are not like extremely rare either. that said my luck at dk wasnt good at all when i first started, went at least 4 trips with nothing much other than mud battlestaff and seercull but on my last trip i maged with 2 other hybrids whom are strangers (meaning we don't share drops) i got 2 berzerker rings =) was a good break for me so i'll advise you to try too. oh and try to kill as many as possible before teleing...i was below half hp (99hp) with no more brews and pots and food and decided to kill finish my rex...and it rewarded me with my 2nd berzerker ring for that trip...cant tell you how happy i was lol :)
  6. yup it really pisses me off when im at metal drags or greater demons on slayer assignments. for metal drags i keep dancing with them and although i try running away a few squares before attacking again it still fails occasionally and a mager conveniently takes over my dragon >.> jagex should really get it fixed...really dumb when i want to kill the monster, the monster wants to kill me and we are dancing around each other. :-w btw although this type of dancing does irritate my nerves, those people running while following each other around rock columns at castle war waiting area do look quite nice to watch lol now that dance is not bad i'll say.
  7. nice blog mega ;) grats on 126 cb lvl and wings =P although i know this is rather late...well good luck on your journey ahead to 138 cb lvl when summoning is released! or perhaps u will be going for 99 slayer...whichever u chose.............give me 100M LOL jus kidding best of luck =D>
  8. not bad ive only gone to dk around 5 times and my best trip was when i went with 2 hybriders while i maged. 1 of them was a complete nubcake idiot who didnt listen to my instructions and kept coming out to kill supreme before rex had spawned so that when rex spawned the hybriders were attacked and he kept blaming me for not luring rex away o.O anyway their food supply quickly ran out and i was left maging rex on my own...got 2 berzerker rings in that trip with the 2nd ring from the LAST rex i killed 8-) a cool 5.6m
  9. it is obvious that the people who think rares are going to die out are mostly those who do not own one and know not the advantages of owning one. the prices of rares are closely linked to the price of all the other items in rs. let's take a popular commodity and compare its price with that of rares: rune full set. previously before ge or godswords came out, the price of rune full was close to 200k or even more than that. that was the same time when rares were high and santas were around 24m. now the price of rune full sets have dropped pretty dramatically and this is reflected in the drop in the price of santas/rares. they are a reflection of the state of the rs economy and a security which ppl hold on to instead of holding on to cash which will cause them to lose money shd inflation occur.
  10. imo the untrimmed slayer cape is not really a big deal...all you have to do is start training slayer from lvl 3, be pretty rich (use lots of cballs) and have plenty of time...just train on controlled mode continually and use mage/range everytime you are able to and it really should be no problem. i feel that ppl overestimate it and it merely grabs the attention of the ignorant. when you get 99 slayer with all combat skills at lvl 1, that would be worth mentioning.
  11. dude don't be ridiculous, how can anyone can get 99 slayer in 1 week. do the calculations...oh wait i'll do them for you in case your math isn't up to scratch: okie ASSUMING he plays 24/7 with NO breaks, NO eating, NO sleeping, NO WHATEVER, he would have 7 X 24 = 168 hours of time to train slayer from lvl 1 to lvl 99. lvl 99 is approximately 13M exp (ROUNDED DOWN ALREADY) and thus when u take 13M divided by 168 = 77380.95 exp per hour. in one hour there are 3600 seconds. lets assume that he deals a hit every 2 seconds which is quite reasonable since we are not including travelling time to slayer masters and lunar spells were NOT out yet. so 77380.95 / 1800 = 42.99 hits each time. wow tell me again how he hits 42 every time with whip or whatever weapon he used at that time. even if u are using a cannon u have to wait for the cannon to turn one bloody round before it can fire again unless u are at daggs/kalphites. to sum up the gist of what i have just said, it is IMPOSSIBLE to get 99 slayer in a week. (note that the hypothetical time i have given him to complete it in a week includes 24/7 non-stop playing) in my opinion n0valyfe owns zezima for 2 reasons: firstly, he easily beat zezima. yes zezima whines about how n0va had it better with all the "click X" options with the intro of RS2 but isn't zezima entitled to that too? and when n0va just started playing zezima was already much quite high up in the scores. initially n0va wasn't even considered to be in the race, it was just zezima and some other name i forgot. some lady name i think but that is not important. n0va caught up with zezima and surpassed him with amazing speed. Secondly and MORE importantly, n0valyfe knew when to quit. he quit once he achieved his goal and won zezima. he knew he had completed his task and so went on to greater things in real life. but sadly for zezima he keeps playing for fear that one day his top spot will be taken over by someone. i have a feeling (which i know may be wrong) that he is playing out of fear that he will lose that security of being THE no. 1 in RS. but if u ask me, i'll say he has already lost it to n0valyfe.
  12. if there is one thing i am absolutely 100% sure of is that jagex will not cause rares to become untradable. if they wanted to do so they would have done it a hell long time ago instead of waiting till now. if they were to take it away they would upset the economy and cause prices of every thing to crash, not to mention lots of people quitting. i know of someone who has 18 blue partyhats, thats 9 billion and many of my friends own rares too. the reason why prices of rares have been going down recently is due to the introduction of godswords and rich players selling their rares to own one of them. this dip in prices was also noticed when construction and abby whips were introduced but soon after that the prices of rares continued to increase again. even with the 3k trade limit the prices of rares can go up as in the ge where the trade limit is a percentage and not a set amount. people buy rares cause it is a form of secure commodity, the same way people buy gold during times of inflation. when inflation occurs and you hold onto cash, you are gonna be losing a lot of real money everyday. im sure all of us are familiar with the uncertainty of the rs economy and how inflation can hit it at any time and with full force. thus those who are rich enough would rather hold on to rares to prevent their real money from being eroded by inflation. yes it is true that they will lose money if dis-inflation occurs but how much often do we notice inflation on rs than dis-inflation? as you can see what i have said about rare prices being representative of the current economy is true: prices of rares have dropped, but so have the prices of practically every single item in runescape! so ultimately, although the nominal prices of rares have dropped, the REAL value of rares have not moved at all. they will continue to fly high in the runescape economy, that i can assure you.
  13. well obviously from jagex's point of view having rs being advertised on miniclip was a very good business opportunity for them, seeing that the number of accounts increased dramatically and they broke their record for having the most number of players online at any one time. ive played rs for 5 years now and when i first started the community was much smaller but the people were generally more well-behaved. of course there was the occasional bad apple but that didnt cause the rest of the populace to act like them. pkers (well i guess this part doesnt apply to rs anymore zzz) were more sporting: they either complimented the other party or didnt say anything at all. and i remember when i first started some stranger gave me 10k just like that to buy full black with black 2h. 10k might not seem a lot now but back then when i first started and before all this inflation took place it was quite a bit for me. i feel that the reason why players could have become more aggressive, unfriendly, less sociable or whatever you like to call it is due to the increase in the number of people playing rs, meaning more competition. there are more people occupying good training spots, more people cutting your favourite tree, more people to share your mining spot with etc. it is inevitable that with more people living in the same space greater conflict will occur. yes jagex has indeed increased the number of worlds and area of rs tremendously but the influx of new players coming in, especially with the advertisement on miniclip, might be too much for them to keep up with. back then when i first started in rs1, there were only around 5 hill giant spawns at the edgeville dungeon and even then there was more than enough for everyone. if we want the gaming society to be more friendly perhaps it would be good to start from yourself as it is much easier to change yourself than to change someone else. so if everybody would just play their part and do their "good deed for the day" im sure rs would become a much better place ;) and even though ive come a long way from where i since started and achieved much (119 cb, 1849 total), i continue to treat everyone fairly, be it the high lvls or low lvls, rich or poor, experienced or first-timers.
  14. the author is just trying to say that a powerful person need not necessarily be famous. true a famous person does have more powerful than the ordinary tom, [bleep] or john but it is not common for someone who "specializes" in fame to be more powerful than someone who "specializes" in power. that example which the author gave about Rowling and the 4 star commander was quite good and i sure did not know about the 4 star commander and can't even remember his name now even but that said i'm sure the power he wields is at least 10 times more than Rowling. you gave that example of zezima being powerful for being famous but think about this: i actually did not know who andrew gower was till 2 years ago but once i started playing rs 5 years ago i already knew who zezima is. yes true zezima can gather lots of people this way but with one click of andrew gower, zezima can wave his account good-bye. think about that power gower wields and i can bet with you that more people in runescape know zezima than andrew gower.
  15. really depends on whether ive the time or money...i try to gather all 2nds for potions by myself (blue dragon scale, fungi, snape grass, chocolate dust, eye of newt) but somethings i just buy off people such as limpwurt root SEEDS which i will farm myself for the root for sup str pots. but somethings are rather impossible to get such as getting full rune when u reach lvl 40 def at first unless u already have 99 smithing :-w
  16. ive absolutely no idea why people are ranting about the new assist system...some are even saying its gonna crash the economy. :o for goodness sake think before sprouting rubbish...just heard a nub ranting that price of rune ores will now drop since everyone can mine it. well, i would certainly like to see which lvl 85 miner would assist you to mine a rune ore right in front of his freaking face when he can simply take the ore and walk off 12k richer. and i dont see why this will discourage people to train. the whole purpose of runescape is to gain levels through making items with the part of "making items" being the process and the "levels" being the end-product. the way u are saying it makes people think as though the whole point in runecsape is to make an item -.- wow ive made a magic short bow...cool now i get to wield it...ingenious rant.
  17. i really do hope jagex does a good update to them...have over 1k rune javs sitting in my bank from metal drags o.O since they updated xbow hope its a sign that javs will get one too...please don't say stuff like "no one is asking you to use them" or "just don't pick them up then" because for the first one, sure no one is asking me to use them but i got them from a high lvl monster drop and it is not as though i could control what the monster drops. for the second, i waste bolts/runes/pots/time killing these dragons...it is not rewarding at all to just pass them up after taking such a long while to kill them.
  18. hey dude...if you are so concerned about abuse i think andrew should also remove the wild...due to all the "wars" going on and high number of "casualties" each day. my my, the cannibals...please remove the wildy, remove weapons, remove magic, remove bow and arrows...how about removing cooking and fishing too? oh no poor fish are dying, my heart bleed for them. yea remove woodcutting too...the poor tree is in tremendous pain getting chopped to pieces *sob sob*. finally, removing mining ya....ouch the rock is getting attacked :-w senseless rant
  19. cause you arent the only one who has the same idea duh. so everyone bought it before halloween and sold it together during halloween causing the supply to increase and price to drop.
  20. for expensive seeds such as ranarr/snapdragon, i always use the "my arm" patch...it is better to be absolutely safe that your herbs do not get diseased. maybe its jus me but somehow i feel that the crop yield from "my arm" plot seems to have a lower average yield than that of other herb plots... :S
  21. davidium replied to Juader's topic in Rants
well some lvl 100+ can be quite annoying...maybe they feel that their combat lvl finally reached triple digits and so they are almighty :S im not sure what's wrong with them but i was rune mining once and this lvl 108 managed to kill me and when i died he was like HAHAHA NOOB!!! i dont really see what is so pro about killing someone with 5 lobs in the inventory and 10% energy o.O sure there are bad apples everywhere who spoil the reputation of a particular combat lvl range. but i seem to see it more from the lvl 100-110 not saying that all 100-110 are total immature brats or that those above 110 are angels though...btw im 114 if you wanted to know :)
  22. seriously getting from 32 to 50 attack will only take u like 2-3 days at most although if u no-life for one day im sure u can achieve it...dont u know, the amount of exp needed for 1-72 in any skill = the amount of exp from 98-99 :-w
  23. the slayer dart is NOT accurate...it has the same accuracy as other spells...the only reason why u think it is accurate is because u have never used it outside of barrows. the reason why ppl think its accurate is because the barrow brothers have such low mage def so even if u have a high negative mage attack u will still hit fairly consistently...i suggest either u use slayer dart with pray pots or ancients without prayer pots instead of god spells with prayer pots as that is like double cost incurred...barrages hit 30 too and allow u to avoid using ppots...personally i try to use barrages on dharok and bursts on the rest and range on ahrim with no pray for all except karil (im talking about not going back to alter to recharge prayer but continuously barrowing)
  24. you can't stop ppl from having drop parties just because you don't benefit...in fact what is so bad about having drop parties cause the wealth is shared among a group of ppl instead of just 1 person...anyway i doubt your friend is really telling the truth...either that or he was really lucky...most drop parties don't give off more than a few million. the only reason why ill go to any drop party is not so much for the items but to congratulate the person and just for the excitement...haha don't be a sour grape :P
  25. davidium replied to dude1456's topic in Help and Advice
you don't really need to focus on atta/str/def as those won't be used much in the barrows except when killing the monsters in the catacombs or when you are high lvl and want to melee the brothers in veracs. try to get 60+ range and mage and 55 slayer like the previous post said...raising your prayer would also be able to save you on some prayer pots too...mage is not that important though since the brothers really do have a very low magic def...but 60+ range would enable you to kill ahrim faster as you can wear red d hide (more range attack bonus)
