  1. I don't want to set a default OS, but I want to just select what OS I want to boot everytime I turn on my computer. If I were to install it on my computer on another hard drive, would it still 'break' my boot thing for vista? No, what would happen with a boot loader is a list of OS you have installed comes up you can set a default one or not set one. Then you use the arrows keys to select which OS and then hit enter and then it will boot to that OS.
  2. Even with a second hard drive it would be easier with a boot loader rather than selecting from your boot menu every time to boot the other hard drive. Yes you can format it on another machine.
  3. Could try the Devnull stated. Also is your TV on the right setting? Is it plugged in tight at all connections? Try disconnecting everything and reconnecting everything.
  4. Did it reboot ok? Could you also tell us your OS? Did it blue screen or anything? What happened exactly? I appreciate your detailed post!
  5. Wouldn't he have to completely turn off the machine for a few seconds for the RAM to flush itself? That depends on the RAM in your PC... 100% of my RAM-based troubles are cleared with a simple reboot, without any kind of power down happening. : Could you tell us how you did it, even if it was with something we suggested?!?!? :-s ~D. V. Devnull I doubt it is the RAM but it never just hurts to reboot. In a since Devnull is right that rebooting does fix it be getting the addresses right with the RAM.
  6. If you know XP will be no longer supported that means no more updates for it. The UAC is User Account Controls. This stops all the annoying vista pop ups like "are you sure you want to do this?" kind of thing. If you turn it it off vista isn't that bad at all.
  7. I agree on that idea.
  8. Could install a boot loader and install it on another partition.
  9. Kinda like Devnull said it would be slow. If your trying to play a game you don't want to want for all the graphics to get transferred back and forth.
  10. Could also try clearing cache in Internet Exploder. Try a different internet browser to see if it is just something with Internet Exploder.
  11. Just turn the UAC off in Vista it isn't as bad as everyone says. You do know Microsoft no longer supports XP in 2009 right?
  12. On mine when that happened on a gateway i had i had to pop off the front panel.
  13. Your ISP has nothing to do with that.
  14. /\ This. I've seen no end of people restart there PC's as soon as it appears. Yes
  15. I would personally run Vista Ultimate x64.

It is very unfortunate that people lost who they liked. I mean we have to get over it not stay down and depressed over the situation.
  17. I don't care as long as they don't hit on me. I think that the government stopping people only makes them look dumb as there worried about guys plugging each other and not worring about what needs to get worried about.
  18. I user verizon but NO TEXT. I hate texting and i hate being in public and seeing people walking and just texting. If i really haveto talk to someone i will just call them or leavea voice mail.
  19. Blue Screen Of Death Screen Saver
  20. You could try defragging it. You could also try CCleaner. Also try cleaning out your media and deletethe stuff in your recycle bin. Another option would be to buy a bigger or a second hard drive.
  21. Yes and much easier to catch them too.
  22. I wouldn't get that cooling system. Build your own cooling system. Also as snipersas said it really isn't need.
  23. Like, my hard drive has, maybe 1000MBs to act as RAM. The Flash Drive acts as 1800MBs. This with my 1GB would be over 2GB, which is the max it says my computer can take. So buying a new, 2GB RAM stick will have little or no effect? I am going insane. But I thought it best to ask if buying one would effect my system since I have all those items acting as RAM. Don't wanna waste 60 bucks. :? Uh, i know ready-boost with usb memories... But using space on a hd as ram? Never heard this lol. Using ready-boost gives a little bit of boost, but not much. Comparing it to putting in a 2nd ram stick, the difference between ready-boost and actual ram is huge. If i don't remember wrong, i think i remember Clare saying that ready-boost also uses a bit of CPU power. (if you mean read-boost. otherwise give me a link or explain to me what your are talking about, do you mean an external usb-hard drive as ram?.. i don't get it). Buying a ram stick (1gb should be enough if don't use many applications at once .. etc), for 40$ or so=worth it. She could be talking about paged files. Even still i would never use my hard drive as ram if there is a way to do it.
