  1. why would Jagex completely remove these discontinued items when all they have to do is sit back and wait for them to get deleted through inaction and/or rule-breaking?? :-k It's just one headache too far to take overt action no matter what the "incentive" they have when doing little to nothing serves their purposes without all the whingeing such action would generate. #-o Just as they're not going to delete these silly holiday gimmick items, they're not going to add new ones either. On the whole, as time passes, there will be fewer and fewer available, and eventually, there will be too few to sustain the absurdley high prices these can fetch at the moment (whether due to artificial hiking of prices or not) and the market for them will all but dissappear :ohnoes:
  2. Backwards logic. You called for the changes. I did. Therefore I fail to see how it's "My fault" Assuming you meant to say "I didn't", his point is that the limits are put in by Jagex to protect the innocent against people like you. The funny thing is that I actually agree with you, not Qeltar, on this point, if I could just get you to quit making logical mistakes and stop phrasing your opinion in such an asshat-ish way we could make a united front in favor of price manipulation. If I could get you to admit that price manipulation is possible. None of which is likely. ummm??? you're not serious? are you???
  3. sorry, but most people (in real life) have these little things called "morals" and "ethics"...something that is sadly lacking in more than a few RS players...and you from all appearances of your posts :( There's nothing wrong with looking out for oneself, per se. but doing so at the expense or outright deceiving of others makes most normal people think at least twice and decide it's not something they can in all conscience do. there's a name for people that behave otherwise : sociopaths.
  4. ahhh :( asshats rule, unfortunately :( in that case, i withdraw the apology. it is definitely unwarranted.
  5. sorry, but i get the feeling from your posts that you're on the side of "it's the scammee's fault for being scammed" rather then the scammer's fault for being greedy and opportunistic. as for the rest, i'm currently on a LOT of pain-killers, and my mind is perhaps not as sharp as it should be under normal conditions. I apologise if that interpretation is wrong.
  6. no. sellers tried to sell it at whatever they felt they could get away with. some buyers knew the prices and were willing to try to negotiate. others didn't and either refused to buy, or fell for the scam. there is a difference. no matter how people try to sugar-coat it and place the blame in the ignorant.
  7. *Bangs his head against the wall* 1.) It's not the sellers job to inform the buyer of "Fair market value". That's the job of the buyer. People should be allowed to sell at any price they choose. Buyers don't have to pay those prices if they believe they're unfair or if they believe they can find the same item for cheaper elsewhere. The same principles govern every day transactions. Sometimes I wonder what kind of world you live in because it's most assuredly not a capitalistic one. 2.) There's no such thing as price manipulation within Runescape, as it's impossible to corner any given market (Minus, maybe, the rare market). Infinite supply sees as much. Infinite supply means no single group is able to corner a market, and if no single group is able to corner a market than price manipulation cannot occur, as another group will willingly undercut your prices. It's simple economic theory, which I'm sure will be ignored (As per usual). Anywho, no one ever has to rely on merchants. As their is an infinite supply of materials within Runescape, excluding rares, you could very easily go out and get whatever you needed/wanted for free. However, this involved a serious investment of time. All merchants did was provide you those items, minus the time needed to harvest them yourself plus mark-up (Merchants have to make money, after all). *Shrugs* nor is it incumbent upon the seller to actively go out of his/her way to sell items at vastly inflated prices in an attempt to deceive honest players out of their money...as MANY (not ALL) merchanters are wont to do ;)
  8. try loading a new browser on its own, clear cookies and temp internet files through "Tools > Internet Options > General" tab, then close and reboot your PC. Try RS as normal.
  9. Point of fact: Leicester is also a city, NOT a county. It is the county seat of Leicestershire, not Cambridgeshire ;) Yes, they are somewhat close, but that's like me going to the States and them all asking me if I know the Queen personally. :wall: All places have "good" and "bad" parts to them, it just so happens that the UK is smaller than quite a few American states, so they're all cramped together a lot closer than they would be in other parts of the world.
  10. :shame: no. In development diary 2 of summoning, they posted a pic of 7 types of eggs. the very FIRST one was a hen's egg ;) See? :P
  11. I usually raise my skills for being self-sufficient, occasionally selling produce for a profit, but that's rarely. I have 1 skill cape but never wear it (it's in my POH on the rack) so I definitely don't think of myself as showing off ;) I just wish Jagex would stop faffing the best ways to raise skills in the mid-high ranges (60-85?)
  12. Can I borrow those rose-tinted glasses you're wearing please? :XD:
  13. "Minor" is the legal term used by society to designate those of it's younger citizens that have yet to reach the arbitrary age of adulthood. As mentioned, this ranges from 12 (in places like Cuba) to 16 (Pakistan - for females) to 18 (pretty much all the world) to 21 (Egypt, Argentina).
  14. It's not a medieval game, it's high fantasy. Why don't you take a look at the logos of other fantasy games? They look a lot "cooler" than RuneScape's. I said "medieval-based", not medieval. there IS a difference. :wall:
  15. I personally, find it hysterically funny to see the reactions of the idiots in RS when, after ignoring their : "Oi! lvl100? [skill] lvl?" or " fr33 s700f pl0x?" or "i got haxxored. need money" for 30 minutes or more, I suddenly respond to someone speaking proper (or approximately to allow for none-native-speakers of) and enter a discussion  I've reported a few people I've suspected of macroing, but they were mainly the ones speaking 5 lines a second in VERY BUSY places. You know for certain that those people are using an "auto-talker" and so can safely report them for it. The trouble is, I've seen the same people in the same place doing the same lines, for weeks....so either Jagex have all but given up on this form of botting, or there are so many spurious reports they've not had chance to get to mine yet. It's probably both #-o
  16. You're all forgetting one basic fact : Runescape is a medieval-based fantasy roleplay game... therefore its logo is highly appropriate to that theme. Making it "futuristic" just because some idiots without two braincells to rub together think it would be "cooler" would seriously detract from that theme. IMO
  17. Ummm not exactly the way you're painting it. The Brits had gained direct political control of about two fifths of the world's [then] population and about one quarter of its land area, and hegemony over nominally independent areas such as parts of China and South America. The British Empire is generally considered to have arisen as a result of Britain's trade objectives rather than an attempt to establish military dominion. In their extremism against Empires, many people forget a few things - the British Empire was not a force of evil for those it conquered, it was a force of good. The Pax Britannica made the 19th century comparitively peaceful and safe compared to the centuries that preceded it, and it was possible to travel the globe and visit all continents [except maybe Antartica  ] using just one currency, speaking one language and all without worry of molestation. [mostly] Britain took its obligations seriously, however: It did not try to extinguish the cultures of other nations, but rather to bring them alive in a framework of fairness. The only cultural artifacts it imposed were simple principles of morals. Where native religions were opposed to even simple moral behaviour, they would introduce Christianity in order to right the wrongs of paganism and allow these peoples to flower. Of course, this did kind of fall by the wayside when people with more money than actual experience/compassion/ethics/morality bought their way into positions of influence/power. We Brits have made some howlers with regards to some colonies/conquered nations. (Middle East - though American interference/manipulation there was more to blame than British mishandling) Ireland is all our own work though. That's what you get when the wrong people are making the decisions. In the western hemisphere, compare Haiti, settled by the French, to the Bahamas, settled by the English. I know that when I do my civic duty and donate blood, stepping foot in Nassau does not make my blood a type IV pathogen. In Asia, compare Singapore and Indonesia. One of these countries is a high tech Asian wonder, the other is slaughtering infidels. Guess which one was civilized by the British, and which one by the Dutch. In Africa, compare English civilized Egypt with Italian civilized Libya. Which one is a world pariah, and which one is a force for moderation in the Arab world. So, British Colonies are moer economic expansion than military, thought for either, one needs both :P
  18. try to sell items like willow and maple logs on GE...they're so far overpriced compared to what is the selling price "on the street" and on RSOF they'll NEVER sell. Seeds too, apart from a few of the most desirable types : magic and ranarr, for example. And Jagex claim to use "Player" prices??? #-o
  19. I posted about IP banning here on the forums earlier this week and someone said that IP banning does not totally get rid of a computer. It has become easier and easier to get around. My point with this post was that Jagex needs to work with the honest players, not against them. And I have seen nothing that makes me feel as though Jagex wants honest players to help them except with the report abuse button. That'd be me. The only sure-fire way to ban by IP would be to ban the ISP (Internet Provider), but that would ban EVERYONE using that ISP for intarweb access..not so bad for the small fry, but imagine the national phone company, British Telecom, or Pacific-Bell, or AT&T (for example) with MILLIONS of customers....
  20. Jagex certainly "fixed" some of the problems suggested by players who actually use it and saw the problems with it. But they didn't take ALL the suggestions needed to fix it :( :shame: The best (worst? :P) example is the farming skill is STILL left in, and STILL being exploited by some of the higher levelled farmers. The same will be true for this Tournament mini- game : they'll take SOME suggestions on board, and implement them, but they certainly won't take ALL of them...and those they do take, will probably end up twisted and geared towards the low-intelligence end of the community because they're the ones that whinge the loudest. The older players, the ones with 3+ years invested into thet game will sadly once again be left swinging in the wind despite having FAR MORE knowledge of the game mechanics than the developers. #-o
  21. graphical enhancement ? - making it look like a 3dFX game? or jagex "prettying up the NPCs and buildings? Never happen to former anything to take the kiddies attention away from Jagex's bad decision making - always for the latter ;)
  22. Some of the females I know play as male avatars to avoid that sort of abuse, or the worse "will you be my gf seksy?" [as if a pixel avatar really shows how someone looks in real life #-o ] most though, are proud to stand up and be counted as female
  23. IP numbers these days are easy to change, with Dynamic IP Addresses being the easiest to change. Banning by IP just doesn't work the way they want you to think it does :(
