Tip.It Times Presents: The Nightmare of Customer Service
oddfaery2 replied to oddfaery2's topic in General Discussion
The problem with customer service is that Jagex has just grown too big for their support team to handle things on a personal level still, but I'm sure he's been adding people like crazy to help things simmer down. A lot of the problem is due to the PLAYERS though. Many players make bogus reports that waste hours and hours of the customer service team's time. I think it would help greatly if they set up some filter/compilation systems, if they haven't already, that would lump all similar messages/reports together, that could then be taken care of collectively. For instance, all reports against a certain player, would get their own file, which would build up as a player gets reported more and more. Looking through these, Jagex could easily determine if this person is a problem or if the users reporting him/her need to be warned. (I can't tell you how many times I got reported for mining without sharing the rocks when I was first starting) I run into this problem myself going through submissions. Don't get me wrong, I greatly appreciate them and encourage USEFUL submissions, but when I'm updating a page here, and looking through submissions for info, I generally spend about an hour looking through them and making changes accordingly and deleting posts after they're no longer needed... In this hour of looking through (on top of whatever time I spend on my own doing it), I get MAYBE 2-3 useful suggestions. This is largely due to having to delete the same suggestion several times, but occasionally due to people posting nonsense. So those of you who don't like Jagex customer service, set an example and lead your fellow players into using it appropriately. Discourage misuse of customer service in any way you can :D -
perfect way to abyss craft safely and efficiently
oddfaery2 replied to yuyoi's topic in General Discussion
I'd rather use the search function instead of posting an old idea on a topic which already has way too many threads... you wanna live abyss RCing, wear some bloody hides and take something to teleport out with such as an elf crystal or ectophial. It's very hard to teleblock, entangle, AND kill somebody faster than they can get out of the situation. -

Family Banned (Long Read, Sad Story, Help Jagex) -UPDATED
oddfaery2 replied to Tosi's topic in General Discussion
well at least that verifies that you are the noob of which we speak... The logs with Xero are irrelevant. The decision was not his to make in terms of your ban. As for "sorting things out with Shirl," there was nothing sorted out other than that you will remain banned as a player who can't be trusted. Xero may have pulled the trigger on your ban, but the vote was unanimous, including Shirl's. -
yes yes, search feature is your friend... as for finding a world with people there, don't hold your breath. It's not a very popular place any more, and unless you know what you're doing and go in with others, your death is all but certain.

Family Banned (Long Read, Sad Story, Help Jagex) -UPDATED
oddfaery2 replied to Tosi's topic in General Discussion
Do not waste your pity on this pathetic excuse of a RS "player" For those of you who aren't aware already, I've been a user of the #runescape IRC channel on the GameSurge network for about as long as I've played this game. "Tosi" as he calls himself on here and on there, pretends very well to be your average trustworthy player, but very quickly was discovered to be trying to pry personal information from players, relating to their recovery questions. He has been banned permanently from our channel for quite some time now, and even when he was given a chance to redeem himself, he ended up getting banned again. If Jagex didn't detect all the out-of-game scam attempts you've pulled, serves you right that they found something else to ban you for. Just my 2 cents on it. I'm not 100% sure what the RSN was of the Tosi I encountered, but from what I'm told on the channel, these two are one in the same. -

Tip.It Times Presents: N0valyfe Speaks!
oddfaery2 replied to oddfaery2's topic in General Discussion
winning 70m in a duel makes over 5 times that much GP "not much"? Funny to hear stakers talk about how much money they win without anybody ever requesting info... wonder how much money you lost staking too... Winning a 70m stake doesn't mean much if you lose a 50m stake... On top of that... that's just 360m cash... his total bank is worth at least 580m... and for somebody who doesn't waste his time with rares, that's pretty good... heck... for anybody that's pretty good -

Cocaine addicts enjoy what they're doing with their life... at the moment. Cocaine is illegal and destroys important cells in the body... the analogy you attempt to make is pretty sad... Most high levels don't buy/sell stuff randomly. If they need an item, they will post on forums. If they want to get rid of an item, they will post on forums... It's really a sad misconception a lot of people have in assuming that high level players have stuff for sale. I get pestered all the time, e.g. in a bank full of 20+ people, somebody will say "odd you selling ____" or "odd you buying ____" Seriously... if you need something just adress the whole bank, don't harrass an individual. This logic is flawed... The higher level a player is, the LESS likely they'll be buying/selling the stuff you want. You can't? Tell that to all the stay-at-home mothers who take up all the high ranks. The only reason that it isn't detrimental to himself is because he is basically a freeloader (based on his own words). His family (who ever that may be) is letting him sit at home and play a damn game. He has a masters degree for crying out loud... and the best way he can utilize his time is by playing a game for 10 - 12 hours? If that isn't ruining your life... I dunno what is. You of all people should know how hard it is to get through college... let alone a masters degree. Its pathetic to tie all that money up into an education, only to place it on the back burner. And online fame should really be the last thing on anyones mind. Being known online isn't going to help you get known in a local area. Where being known would actually count for something. That was a pretty weak arguement there if you ask me. Being known around the world isn't fulfilling no matter what anyone says (unless you're like a REAL billionaire like Bill Gates and all those other people). If he could balance out his life and Runescape, that would be great. But he indirectly said it himself... he needs a life. [i'm also by no means suggesting I'm perfect. I'm in a similar situation I'd say. Just makes me feel good that I'm not that far gone as he is, and I probably never will be (I have a plan in life at least, where as he just seems hung up on a game).] I'm not saying that it's the best use of time as far as "real life" is concerned, just that it's not detrimental. The time he's spending in RS won't keep him from getting a job. He hasn't failed to meet his responsibilities. He just simply hasn't looked for more after graduating. I honestly see nothing wrong with people staying with their parents either. If I could, I'd stay with my parents till i had 100% of the money I needed for a house of my own. There's also no telling what kind of house his family has. If the house is big enough, I wouldn't see why a parent would try to push their kids out (other than to try to make them get a career). -
so how is it that standing around waiting for him to die and seeing what level he is that you weren't able to get the name? Don't try to change your story just cuz people flame you... You wanted to be greedy and take the stuff off the guy when he died... admitting that is a lot less flameworthy than doing it in denial.

Tip.It Times Presents: N0valyfe Speaks!
oddfaery2 replied to oddfaery2's topic in General Discussion
I'd expect that out of someone like Zezima. To be honest... I'm surprised N0va was that open in answering some of those questions. He kind of incriminated himself in my opinion. He pretty much implied that he had his life together, went through college, and the whole nine yards... and let a simple little game ruin his life. I would hardly say it's ruined his life. Sure, it's kept him from going into a career right away, but that happens with tons of people for many different reasons. He didn't throw anything away but his time. Honestly, in the long run, there's little/no difference in graduating when you're 22 (not saying this is his age) and going straight into work than there is graduation when you're 22 and going into work when you're 25. In the long run it makes little to no difference. RuneScape makes him happy, so what's wrong with that? To top it off, hundreds of thousands of people around the world know who he is. Would this be the case if he didn't play RuneScape? I'm not saying that everybody should put off work to play RuneScape. For most people that's entirely unfeasable, but he's in a situation such that it's not detrimental to himself to play so much, so let the man enjoy what he does with his life. -

Several people in our staff tried to get Zezima to agree to one, but he wouldn't do it. There may be other famous top players in the future though ;) -

What is the running price for willow logs?
oddfaery2 replied to dutycalls5609's topic in General Discussion
it's not that hard to go into RS official forums and find threads for people selling... Price check threads are kinda pointless with how many people buy and sell stuff in this game. -
What did you use your 20k lamp on?(Completed Recipe Quest)
oddfaery2 replied to n64jive's topic in General Discussion
I'll be using it on RuneCrafting, as it's the slowest skill in the game (even the "fast" methods are about 1/2 the normal xp rate in other skills, even slower than the "fast" skills). -
cool... not that anybody fishes :P

odd faery doesn't have many copycats :D Then again, not many Utopia players around in RS to try to copy it lol
