I did the quest in full barrows gear and tanked the shadows, because praying was annoying. With the high defence bonuses and a little food I did just fine, treating it almost as if I was on a shadow task for slayer. If you got a slayer task of 100 shadows, could you do it in one trip? Probably, so if you gear up that way, you should be able to do the quest in one trip too.

The trick is to get doubles of every nonmember item, so that you don't need to get rid of all your members items, you just need to never click withdraw-all.

Yeah, pikes are slower to catch. Trout and salmon are better.

For farming, I have a spreadsheet of the best herbs to plant; it's in my sig. I'd recommend sticking with the higher level herbs for the xp, though--so not just ranarr until 62. At the very least switch to toadflax and then kwuarm; you may even consider herbs like avantoe. I'd also recommend planting trees and fruit trees for fast xp. I agree with you for the most part, although I found the pet rock article entertaining. This was a weak week, I think. An editorial needs to be persuasive, and a persuasive work needs a Purpose. None of the articles that were supposed to want to convince me of something actually wanted to convince me of anything, and so I was disappointed. The construction article actually was better than the others in that respect, but I have to say that muggiwhplar said it better a few months ago. About the article on the Gods, I have something to point out about Saradomin's claim that he created Gielinor. In the God Letters, Saradomin responded to the article's accusation. Ah... but have you questioned whatever motives Guthix himself might have, to slander me so outrageously? Would you give him the credit for the peace that mostly reigns upon this world for his contribution of sleep? I call this world my creation, for the value system of honour, and courage, and mercy, and wisdom are attributes that I brought to this once barbaric land! It is true, I did not physically create the raw material of this world, but I have shaped and sculpted it into the glorious land that it is today! Just get the plate and legs. Use a whip for your weapon, it's better. Helm of neitiznot works better for the helm too, although you could use Verac's Helm if you aren't doing the quest. Verac's Helm + Verac's Skirt + Guthan's Platebody would prolly be the best choice. You can substitute Torag for Verac if you don't plan on using prayer and want to save a little cash.

Barrows is cheaper and more powerful. Use barrows.

Yeah, well, why would you want slow money? You could make even more money killing chickens to 99 strength and banking the meat and bones and feathers. Does that mean killing chickens is good money?

It's much more effective to buy them. They're very inexpensive in the GE, and the herbs you grow are worth much more than the seeds.

Well, one really cheap way would be to charge air orbs. I can charge about 500-550 orbs per hour with a terrorbird, and each one is 76 experience and about 400 gp profit. That's around 40k exp/hr with a gain of about 200k gp/hr. Pretty cheap, no?

It's not even your luck. It's in your head. The rune axe chops slower than a dragon axe, and it's probably been chopping slower for you this whole time. The amount of logs per tree has nothing to do with the chop speed. It won't even affect your training at all, unless you have to spend too long waiting for respawns.

The starving koala bears is a joke. Koalas only eat eucalyptus leaves. The point is that eucalyptus logs are cheaper than yews for mostly the same xp. Heavy rod fishing is still faster than fly fishing, although you now need to drop instead of gut the fish to attain maximum rates.

Woodcutting is not good for making money no matter what level you are or what you cut. It tops out around 150k gp/hr. Laws, deaths, or double cosmics would be better than nats for cash.

I wasn't responding to Owl. I was responding to your interpretation of Owl's complaint. And I would think the answer would be obvious. Why not? Because it's slower money, it's slower slayer experience, and it's slower ranged experience. You might as well ask "Why not train ranged on crocodiles?" The real point is one of hypocrisy; that is, why, if slayer is brought up when talking about melee, is slayer slayer not brought up when talking about ranged? And I have already addressed that. Oh, easy answer. The people who say to train melee with slayer are usually wrong when they say to train melee with slayer. In the cases where they are right, they'd be saying, "Your slayer level is pretty low...why not train that, since it's worth getting and it lines up nicely with your goal of training melee?" In other words, they are flipping it around and focus on slayer training, with the combat experience as the side benefit. Slayer is never the best way to train melee, but melee is the best way to train slayer. The people who say to train melee with slayer are really just saying to train slayer. In contrast, slayer is never the best way to train ranged, but aside from cannons, ranged is not the best way to train slayer either. Therefore, saying to train ranged with slayer would be akin to saying to train fishing on sharks--bad advice.

"However" isn't a coordinating conjunction, and as such, a comma would be incorrect here. You'd either keep the current version or change the period to a semicolon.
