Get mystic robes: they're cheap (about 200k a set) and effective. It's also worth your while to head to the Mage Arena in the wilderness to get a god cape, but I believe you need 60 magic for that. As for a weapon, stick with the elemental staff that saves you the most money, and consider switching over to an ancient staff once you have the requirements (50 magic I think). Ancient staves, among other magic weapons, now have a magic damage bonus; an invaluable boost for an aspiring magician. For a shield, try doing the "Horror from the Deep" quest. You can choose a prayer book that functions as a shield. They start off with no stats except +5 prayer, which in itself is nice, but once you add all the pages, they gain some nifty bonuses. I recommend getting the Guthix book of Balance. The stats are the most well rounded, and I believe it's the cheapest to complete with pages. Once you get higher stats, get yourself a set of Ahrim's robes (70 magic 70 defence) and a staff of light (75 magic 75 attack). They're some of the best magical equips and they're quite affordable! Other miscellaneous items to consider are: Arcane Stream Necklace (very powerful damage boost, get at 70 dungeoneering), Infinity Boots (50 magic 50 defence, rather expensive, but they're the second best magic boots), "Barrows" Gloves (complete "Recipe for Disaster" quest 100% and these badass gloves are yours), and Full Slayer Helm (huge magic damage boost during slayer tasks, and the defensive stats are great without sacrificing magic attack) Good luck on your magic studies!

Also, don't forget to find some Hati paws! Hati is a wolf boss that appears every year for a limited time, and defeating her can get you some gloves that double combat skill experience gain for a limited time! That's definitely something worth looking into. Don't worry if your combat levels aren't very high, if you find a team you'll do just fine. To get the gloves, all you have to do is hit Hati at least once, and once she dies, you have an 80% chance of getting the gloves. The double xp is massively useful for training, especially for magic because it works with non-combat spells too! Weather you're super-heating of alching, you'll get xp much faster with these. But be warned, Hati won't be around long; but I'm not exactly sure when the event is over.

Okay, I already have JOT, and I know how to complete it quickly... Could we maybe get back on topic? I'm still open for suggestions.

On the topic of auras, has it been confirmed that a 5% increase means a 5% absolute increase rather than a 5% increase over your natural chance to hit? For example on rocktail, say you have a 10% chance to catch one. Then would it be a 5% boost to your chance to catch (10.5%) or a 5% boost to the absolute chance to catch (15%)? I always imagined it would be the first. If it's the second, auras will be a much bigger deal than I imagined. It's secound confirmed in HLF. Can someone else confirm this? Picz please? If this is true, it seems like kind of a big deal.
-
Duely noted, thanks for the advice. Now does anyone have a reccomendation on what aura to get? If anything, I'm interested in slayer and Glacors. What do?
-
That seems pretty insignificant... But what if I wasn't using a cannon or titan? Say, in Kuradal's Dungeon? I also don't have turmoil/bandos armor either. Either way, I think my 23k points are better spent elsewhere. Anyone have suggestions?
-
Just a quick question: I hear inspiration aura actually restores your special attack meter by 0.5% instead of the supposed 0.2% the tooltip claims. I was wondering if anyone with the aura themselves' can confirm this. If it's true, it seems like a pretty viable choice for slayer. Seeing as I don't boss hunt much besides a few Glacors here and there, should I spend my 23k points on inspiration? I imagine the special attack restore would be more useful for slayer than the health/prayer restore from vampyrism/penance.

Also wearing low level/welfare gear as that is designated "bot gear" also high levelled armour as only bots can afford it due to cheating their wealth. You have to respond to everything anyone asks you instantly, otherwise you're probably a bot. If someone asks you your woodcutting level, you better respond. They aren't just trying to spark a friendly chat, they're interrogating you. If you see someone on a slayer assignment attacking monsters that spawn before you can react, they're obviously a bot. Nobody could possibly react to a monster spawning within 0.6 seconds, that's just beyond human capability! Training in strange places also makes you a bot. Hell, even killing two guards in Edgeville automatically classifies you as an inhuman cheating automaton. I mean who does that? -
Whatever. Still dirt cheap. Not to mention, I still pay 5$ a month!! Hueheuhahuehea!!

You also have to be stupid to let that happen too. Recovery questions should be equivalent to 10 passwords, not actual personal information, especially the kind that you may display publicly on Youtube/Facebook. "Name of first pet? F2k5ibJu920aaheX6" But I concur, having a bank pin is better than no bank pin. -
So I'm not alone? It seems every since the Nuke, I've been getting 10-15 fps at best. In some areas, say the Jadinko Lair, my framerate inexplicably drops to ~5, making it neigh unplayable. And don't tell me it's the graphics! I've tried turning them down to the bare minimum, and it doesn't help whatsoever. Something tells me when I finally get my gaming PC later this month, it'll run Skyrim on high settings at a better framerate than Runescape on the lowest...

Thread with all CAPS title about some bot nonsense? Sounds like a- OH MY GOD JAGEX ACTUALLY DID THE STUFF THEY SAID THEY'D DO AND IT WORKED AND EVERYTHING'S ALL BETTER NOW AND THE BOT DEVELOPERS ARE FEIGNING REMOURSE AHAHAHAHA! -
In order of usefulness, I think this is what you should work for: Void melee helm>Void deflector>Elite void robe bottom Melee helm set gives arguably the best offensive bonuses off-task. The deflector gives you a lot more choice with your equipment depending on the situation, and RFD gloves+Deflector is generally better than Void gloves+Dragon defender. Elite versions only give +4 prayer each, so they aren't terribly useful, but still worth getting for sure. P.S. Don't bother with the mage helm, unless you plan on using multiple void sets to save inventory space. Generally speaking, void mage is worse than Ahrim's by quite a bit. Its uses are niche at best.

I was under the impression all unused charges were removed of May last year, but maybe they came back? If you haven't killed Hati again this year, I would wager yes, you could use your current charge then recharge later.

The book itself can be activated for a length of three minutes a day. During this time, any logs that you step on will be immediately incinerated into ash, and double the exp for that log will be gained. Meanwhile, two more events have unlocked at the circus... I was majorly dissapointed when I discovered the book only works once a day. I think it should be once an hour or something. Daily is just ridiculous. The circus events are pretty cool, I was pleasantly surprised to see they didn't require a minimum of 91 firemaking. I got the firemaker top and bottom, and I think they look pretty fly. Anyone know if there are any other pieces to the set? I haven't 91 firemaking yet, as you must've realised, so I have no comments on the new training method. I hear you can only do it once a week, is that really true? Anyone know if it's even worth it? Though I saw some of the new pets, they look pretty interesting. Shame you have to feed them, just like every other pet... As for the quest itself, I loved it! I'd go into more details on how much I loved it, and why, but I'd rather avoid spoilers for now. That, and I'm just lazy...

Surely you must realise they're spending a lot of resources on developing several new games, such as Stellar Dawn and Transformers Universe. Not to mention their bot genocide definitely made a dent, seeing as many paying members were bots.

I believe a BIG part of Runescape's success is based on it's accessibility. It's the top of browser games in terms of quality and gives it some reputation as well. Plus, the developers at Jagex right now are familiar with this engine, this kind of development - I don't think making it client based would be better for Runescape. Yeah, but compare it with another java-based game. Say, minecraft for example. Both available for download, and able to be run in browser. You can play Minecraft in your browser now? Yes, if you're playing the shitty "no fun allowed you can only place blocks good luck" classic mode available in the browser. That is opposed to the still shitty "now with added monsters that will destroy your beloved creations than rape you in the mouth" full release available for download only. Either way, both versions look like garbage and have hardly any content in them. I don't "hate" Minecraft, it's still fun to play time to time, but it's just a sandbox and nothing more. I mean, when was the last time you played in an actual sandbox? The game leaves too much to your imagination and the rest is bare bones. Runescape looks like (and is in almost every other way) diamonds compared to Minecraft. Hardly surprising, seeing as Minecraft was half-coded half-stolen by a lone, lazy, fedora-wearing neckbeard.
