Is WoW a java based game that isn't on a cd and has thus limited space? don't think so. Comparing WoW and RS is like comparing apples and oranges, and should not be done on this thread. Thank God you listen. I wonder why I said that I didn't want to talk about it. You say it shouldn't be done, after doing it yourself.

Does RS have 2000+ quests, dungeons that take hours to play, and several classes and races? And does RS let you play multiple characters with the same membership? WoW doesn't need weekly updates because the original game alone was much larger than RS will ever be. I don't want to discuss this as a group, but I really felt like I had to set this person straight...please no more discussion on this. And to anyone who feels the same way as berb does, I'm sorry. It's not that I'm saying your opinion doesn't count, that really is not what I am trying to say at all. The fact is that, as a level 120+ player, I feel that less than 10% of the updates are aimed at a player of my level. I'm not saying that anyone under a certain level is just stupid, or ignorant, or blah blah blah...I'm just trying to say that, if you are not a high level player, there really is no way to understand how frustrating it is when the first update after two weeks is something that adds very little to the game. Sorry for any confusion about this, but I am not one of those guys who just thinks that if you aren't a high level, then you don't matter. Think of it this way...if rune armor suddenly got its stats lowered down to being only +1 above adamant, you would be upset, right? Of course, anyone with 40+ defense would be. But, if there is a lower leveled player, do you think he would be upset? No. It doesn't affect him. The same holds true for the lack of updates aimed at players of my skill total/combat level. This game in general has a huge lack of features in the high levels of all skills (atleast in comparison to the number of features for low levels). So, trust me on this one, anyone of a low level simply cannot understand the frustration. Imagine if every update that came along was for level 126 players, so that they are completely useless for you. That is my frustration, and I hope its a little more clear now. I hope that the new island will have features that actually contribute to the game, and that people have a reason to come back to the island after they have finished exploring the update. EDIT: Another main reason this is so frustrating is because I was around for when the updates to this game were amazing. For awhile, one update after the next was giving higher level players many things to do. We had slayer, barrows, DKs...the list goes on and on. We haven't had an update like any of these in forever..the last one was probably the DKs, more than a year ago. Since PC has come out, the average player level has definitely gone up, and the melee stats are now one of the more common 99s to see. Come on Jagex, it's time for some high level updates. Armor, weapons, monsters, whatever...we just need something.

Notice the 'fun' in my post? I'm not saying this update isn't, all updates are, but I want something I really enjoy. Not something I do for half an hour and then never do again. I don't know what the reward is from the Museum minigame (hurry please Jagex), so I don't have an opnion about this update yet. It's just that I am sure they can do a lot better, but a lot of the past updates have been lame. Thank god somebody gets it. How many people were sitting here and posting "OMG NEW VARROK! Best update month ever!" Now, how many people were REALLY excited over the possibility that we could theoretically be due for a new skill? Yeah...thats what I thought. Also, for the past 3 or 4 months, we have gotten atleast one grafics update, aside from April. However, we have had TWO so far this month, so that makes up for the one we missed in April. This is frequent. This is more frequent than skill updates. It is more frequent than any other update, aside from quests. How anyone could ever say one a month is not frequent is just beyond me...look at the website yourself, this isn't a made up number. The bottom line still stands. Grafics were voted as the least desireable feature in an area. Maybe Jagex is running out of ideas except for quests and grafics, or maybe they really have no intentions of ever using poll results (How long as the Lone Ranger poll been up now?). Also, to the fools that say "OMG IT TAKES LIEK SO LONG FOR THE UPDATES TO BE DEVELOPED" This poll, if you were to actually read it, was from August of last year. Now, there was some fool who said "WHY SHOULD I BELIEVE A POLL FROM THIS APRIL?!"...I don't even know what to say. The poll was from August...either put your glasses on next time or go and slap the person who taught you how to read. Again, not sure why people think I'm trying to be so mean. The poll is from "April"? Honestly...to think that is foolish. Anyone who says that isn't the truth is a liar. Also, to the person who said the thing about 7 choices and etc.. Who said I didn't appreciate graphics? If you look back in this post you'll find a post where I do agree that the graphics look awesome. This doesn't change the fact that it is the second grafics update of the month, and we missed an update last week so that this week we can get our second grafics update, and a silly mini-game/quest/whatever that takes a short time to finish. One final word on this. Back in the ole' days, when the discussion of a toatally re-vamped RS first came about, Jagex said something along the lines of "[We were going to just update the look of the environment, but then we found that the NPC and PC graphics looked sub-par in comparison. We didn't want our game to look mismatched, so we're completely re-vamping everything, with a re-vamped engine to boot.]" This is exactly what is hapenning here. With all of these environment and NPC grafics updates, parts of the world are starting to be completely out of place, along with the PC grafics (not Pest Control, Player Character). I do hope that they extend these graphic updates to ALL areas of the world, because it does make the game more fun, and they do a great job at it. What people don't seem to get in my anger and frustration is that its not about the grafics, and its not about the fact that I myself do not like it, because I do think that the grafics look nice. I personally am just very frustrated that it seems like we are now getting graphics updates INSTEAD of content updates. I'm just angry that we missed an update last week, and for what? A graphics update and the museum thing. The only excuse for this would be that the content team is working on something huge, and they are working their hands to the bone just to finish that up. In conclusion...eh, I don't feel like bothering. Chances are you didn't read everything I said anyway.

Sounds like you love to waste your time training skills that won't do anything. Either that, or you really desperately want an easy trimmed cape. If thats the case, congrats. My 99 attack came from playing the game and killing monsters. My 99 HP also came this way, but during 98 I spent 100 PC points on HP because I was so excited about finally having 99 HP that I just wanted to get it done.

Tbh most Runescape players are stupid, today in the museum the amount of people shouting what do i do here? wheres the tool rack? whats pottery? was astonishing (note most of these people where lvl 80+). The fact is that making a graphics update wont stop anyone playing except for the lvl 108's with 7000 hours of play time behind them who thought to themselves 'this is the update to rekindle my interest in this game.' and were disappointed that it wasnt teh uber new skillzor. What is wrong with you people? I'm mad at the fact that Jagex wasted 2 weeks to bring us an update that I feel is completely worthless. Yes, for Java, it looks awesome. That is not the point. The point is that graphic updates are what I care about the LEAST in this game, and EVEN AN OFFICIAL RUNESCAPE POLL SHOWS THAT GRAPHICS ARE THE LEAST CONCERN OF MOST OF RUNESCAPE! This is not just me, and this is not some random poll. It is a poll that Jagex conducted themselves. To make matters as awful as possible, graphics updates arent number 3, 4, or even 5 on the list. They are DEAD LAST. 2% of 50k+ people voted for graphics updates, and its what we get. There are plenty of existing features that I like about Runescape, and plenty of things I would like to do that I have not yet done (for those reasons I continue to play this game on occaision and continue to view these forums), but I find it hard to believe that I am the only one who is outraged that they wasted 2 whole weeks worth of updates to release something that very little of the population really cares about. The mini game is...meh, I dont care about that. It's stupid too, but atleast there isn't an official poll that strictly conflicts with that update. People who are telling me to leave...all I have to say is this: I don't care. If the best counter-argument you can come up with is to just tell me to leave, then you have about the intelligence of a paper clip. How about...they don't exist! Notice the "Form your own adventuring party" segment. Last time I checked, most of the [cabbage] you do in this game that resembles any type of "random" or "unique" adventure is single-player. Epic fail.

Exactly. If you are a player within the level range of 50-80 (I would say 50-80 updates are more common than 80-100) then DON'T TRAIN YOUR CHARACTER ANY MORE. You'll be happy because you get to have 90% of the updates. When was the last high level update? Anyone even know? Dagg Kings?

Thank God...just what this game needed. A graphical update to ONE part of the world, and some type of "mini game" about the history of Runescape. /end sarcasm I'm probably not playing this game again until they release something for high levels. (And I don't mean 80+, I mean actually high levels) The graphics look great...I mean, as far as a Java based game goes. I'm also curious where Jagex gets the information that this is a "long awaited" update. "Long awaited" is a phrase that is supposed to be used when people are really anticipating something and have had to wait longer than expected. Not sure who was REALLY anticipating this, but if anyone was, I hate them. Jagex, if graphics really mattered that much to your players, we wouldn't be playing a Java based game. Oh well, maybe some day they'll realise how important it is to start pleasing the long term customers (levels 110+, or even 120+). Back to WoW

Wow, a lot of people really don't understand the point of this thread at all. I'm really not asking if you like to do things alone...I'm more trying to point out the fact that Jagex seems to have the wrong idea here. You shouldn't make updates based on what people do, but what they WANT to do.

Well, as you may or may not know, the current poll on the RS website is "Are you a lone ranger?" (as of the time when I wrote this) Basically, the poll asks 3 questions: Do you quest with friends? Do you train with friends? and Do you PK with friends? Now I think this is a GREAT poll (for once) and the results so far basically show one thing that I knew as a fact, most people do not quest with friends. The one gripe that I do have with this poll is how Jagex says they plan on gearing the updates. They basically say "If it turns out people like to PK with friends, we will probably make updates that cater to this." Now...here is my problem with the poll. If nobody does quests with friends, it quite possibly could be due to the fact that no features yet exist that let us truly do quests together. We cannot form "parties", share rewards, etc... These features are quite popular in other games. In MY opinion, the poll should ask us "How much would you enjoy questing with friends if we implement features that are more encouraging to group questing?" Asking simply whether or not people DO something is a horrible way to plan updates. For example, people rarely make combination runes because most of them are very time consuming and resource consuming to make (aside from a few types). Now, you must admit, if they were easy to make, you would make them (or buy them) more frequently than you currently do. Or, you would be more likely to make them if you were in need of them. Now, does this mean that, since few people use combination runes, we should never give them another update? No. Does it mean that people don't WANT to always be using smoke runes when they are casting Flames of Zamorak? No. It means that people don't make/use combi-runes because of how inconvenient they are to make. The same goes for questing together. Sure, you can bring your pal along, but you cannot fight monsters together, split rewards, or do any other various things that are common for group-based quests in other games. This means that there is no real reason to have your friend there. It doesn't make the quest easier, or alter the story/outcome/whatever in any way; it basically just gives you a friendly face to chat with. If the rewards of a feature are more interesting, people will use it. If doing quests as a group was really possible, people would probably start doing it.

Very nice guide 8-) What is your opinion on Palm trees though? My favorite thing to do is get 3 papaya trees growing, and one palm. That way, I will have 18 papaya harvested by the time I go to replant the Palm. Great advice for the magic and yew seeds, though. Now I can start making money from spines instead of holding them to grow trees. :)
