GLEE: Season 2
GLEE: Season 2 The Season 2 premier of Fox's hit musical-comedy series Glee started this Tuesday, September 21, 2010! Season 2 is set to follow the Glee kids as they prepare for regional, sectional, and finally national show-choir competitions (in New York City!) throughout the year. For those of you who may be unfamiliar with the show, Glee focuses on the high school show-choir (aka a "glee club") at William McKinley High School in Lima, Ohio. In the Pilot episode of Season 1, we learn that the previous Glee club teacher is fired from his position, and Will Schuester - also the school's Spanish teacher - steps in to fill the position, as he himself used to be in the glee club when he was a student at McKinley High. The Glee club members are a mish-mash of styles, looks, and voices, and while all are exceedingly talented, they are relentlessly hazed (typical of high school, right?) for being the outcasts and misfits of the school. The show is hugely successful because it shows that it is okay to be different, and that everyone is special in their own way, no matter what, and we should celebrate our diversity. (Oh, yeah... it's also laugh-out-loud funny, the cast is great, and of course the musical numbers are amazing.) Season 2 looks to be as amazing and hilarious as the first season was, and as a fellow "Gleek," I'm really looking forward to following along with the old (and new!) cast of characters! Characters & Cast [hide]NEW Characters! Carl Howell - John Stamos (Dentist) Sam Evans - Chord Overstreet (Glee Club?) Shannon Beiste - Dot Jones (Faculty; Football Coach) Sunshine Corazon - Charice Pempengco (Glee Club?) Glee Club Members Artie Abrams - Kevin McHale Brittany - Heather Morris Rachel Berry - Lea Michele Mike Chang - Harry Shum, Jr. Tina Cohen-Chang - Jenna Ushkowitz Quinn Fabray - Dianna Agron Finn Hudson - Cory Monteith Kurt Hummel - Chris Colfer Mercedes Jones - Amber Riley Santana Lopez - Naya Rivera Noah "Puck" Puckerman - Mark Salling School Faculty & Other Principal Figgins - Iqbal Theba Burt Hummel - Mike O'Malley Emma Pillsbury - Jayma Mays Terri Schuester - Jessalyn Gilsig William "Will" Schuester - Matthew Morrison Sue Sylvester - Jane Lynch[/hide] Episodes [hide]Episode 1 - "Audition" - September 21, 2010 Episode 2 - "Britney/Brittany" - September 28, 2010 Episode 3 - "Grilled Cheesus" - October 5, 2010 Episode 4 - "Duets" - October 12, 2010 Episode 5 - "The Rocky Horror Glee Show" - October 26, 2010[/hide] Songs [hide]Episode 1 - Audition "Billionaire" "Empire State of Mind" "Every Rose Has Its Thorn" "Getting to Know You" "Telephone" "The Power" "Listen" "What I Did for Love" Episode 2 - Britney/Brittany "...Baby One More Time" "The Only Exception" "I'm a Slave 4 U" "Me Against the Music" "Oops!... I Did It Again" "Stronger" "Toxic" Episode 3 - Grilled Cheesus "Bridge over Troubled Water" "I Look to You" "I Want to Hold Your Hand" "Losing My Religion" "One of Us" "Only the Good Die Young" "Papa, Can You Hear Me?" Episode 4 - Duets "River Deep – Mountain High" "Get Happy" / "Happy Days Are Here Again" Episode 5 - The Rocky Horror Glee Show "Dammit Janet" "Over at the Frankenstein Place" "Science Fiction/Double Feature" "Sweet Transvestite" "The Time Warp" "Touch-a, Touch-a, Touch-a, Touch Me" "What Ever Happened to Saturday Night?"[/hide] My Thoughts on Episode 1 [hide]"Ahhhhhhhhhhh!!!" about sums it up. From the get-go, we are introduced to one of Season 2's three new characters, Shannon Beiste, the school's new female! football coach. Principle Figgins let's Sue and Will know that both the Cheerios and the Glee club will be undergoing budget cuts (Sorry, Sue! Say goodbye to your confetti cannons) in order to better-fund the athletic department. Meanwhile, after their loss at Regionals the previous year, it is up to the Glee kids to find new recruits to join the club, in an effort to secure themselves a place at Nationals this year, which will be held in New York City! Rachel discovers a foreign-exchange student named Sunshine Corazon, who proves to have an amazing voice, leading to Rachel feeling that her "spotlight" will be taken away if Sunshine joins the Glee club. Likewise, Finn meets a new transfer student -- named Sam Evans -- who has joined the football team. Finn overhears Sam singing in the locker-room shower (exactly the same way that Finn was discovered) and he's got a great voice as well. (As a random side-note, before he even spoke, I was pretty confident that we'll eventually find out that Sam is gay, and that there will be some crazy loveplot between him and Kurt... dun dun duuuuuuuuuuuuun.) As far as my actual thoughts on the new season go, I AM STILL IN LOVE. I watched it online on Hulu at like 5:00AM, and was laughing to myself in the dark of my bedroom. :c While ultimately it seems that Beiste and Mr. Schuester have made amends after the rocky beginning they had, I'm pretty sure that the "Beast" will end up being even more mean that Sue is... ...and that she'll give both Sue and Will a run for their money. I'm interested to see how the two new Glee kids turn out. Sunshine and Sam both have amazing voices, although it annoys me that Sam's voice (like Finn's) is a touch, uh... auto-tuned, I guess? Most noticeably when they both go up for the high notes. I was laughing the entire time during this episode... some of the quotes are over-the-top, LOL. <3: Brittany: People thought I went on vacation, but actually I spent the summer lost in the sewers. (when asked how her summer was) Sue Sylvester: Hey, why so glum, William? Cat crap in your coffee? Or are you worried no one's signing up for your little club there? Will Schuester: Ah, not at all, Sue! National's are in New York City this year! I think that list is gonna be filled up in no time. Sue: You know what your problem is? "No Tryouts; Just Sign Up." Nobody wants to be part of a club that just anyone can join. See this? Court summons... child endangerment; there's been a line of would-be Cheerios out there since late July. I guess they lost their humanity a little. One girl ate a pigeon, several others started worshiping a possum carcass as their Lord. That's how much they want to be Cheerios! Shannon Beiste: Do not get up in the Panther's business, lady. You're all coffee and no almond. Sue: That doesn't make any sense... - blah blah - Beiste: The Glee club?! You came in third last year and you're asking for more money? That's a steer with six teets and no oink! (Pig squeal noise) Sue: ...that doesn't make any sense... Will: ...what?[/hide]

salamader barrows
Picture is slightly outdated in two ways: I now use Infinity boots rather than Dragon boots, and since I'm at the point where I'm comfortable with Barrows, I have gone back to using Ring of wealth rather than the Ring of life. Attack Order and Notes: Dharok: Black salamander set to Mage Protect from Melee Prayer[*]Karil: x4 DDS specs, Unholy book; finish off with Abyssal whip Protect from Ranged Prayer[*]Ahrim: Black salamander set to Ranged If I have Karil as my tunnel brother, I will use the x4 DDS set-up on Ahrim instead.[*]Protect from Magic Prayer [*]Guthan: Black salamander set to Mage No Protection prayer[*]Torag: Black salamander set to Mage No Protection prayer[*]Verac: Black salamander set to Mage No Protection prayer Once I get into the tunnels, I will use Guthan's to heal back up before fighting my last brother. (I only bother getting 3-8 kill count.) This may not be the best set-up, but I've found that it works well enough for me... I can manage 4-5 chests/runs before having to bank.

The account stays locked until they are done with their investigation - they don't immediately unlock it right after you send in the Recovery report. Perhaps just wait a few more days.

Is it weird that the first thing to pop into my head was, "You're a Wizard, Harry?" This was followed shortly by the Sorting Hat shouting out, "Ravenclaw!!!"

France bans the niqab
you don't see the argument in "wanting to see someone's face"? really? your personal anecdotes don't mean a thing. my dad works in a plant that requires sophisticated IDs to enter every building and you're calling that meaningless? hell even my school's GYM requires to see everyone's face. when i take tests my face has to be seen. lmao. it's not just the face covered up anyway. it's the WHOLE body. can you tell if a man or a woman is wearing this right now? [image] telling a modern country like France that not enabling these religious fanatics is wrong is archaic. the west does not have to adapt blatant primitive practices like this. "Your personal anecdotes don't mean a thing." Of course I understand the argument itself -- what I meant was, I don't think that it is a valid enough excuse to use in banning a garment of clothing. I'd be more worried about the handful of kids who probably bring knives (or worse) to your school every day.

Literature
Glad you liked it! :) So, I went to Barnes and Nobles today, and guess what the first thing I saw was? :P [hide][/hide] Available for pre-order now, comes out October 12, 2010. - - - Also, I'm really, really enjoying The Hobbit! Like I said, I was hesitant to read it due to my dislike of the LotR books, (*yawn*), but that hesitation was misplaced; I've only just now got to the Riddles in the Dark chapter, and Bilbo has just escaped Gollum's clutches. I'm quite excited to keep on reading! :)

France bans the niqab
Perhaps my comparison to carrying a Bible around was incorrect -- I had always assumed that it was a religious practice to wear these veils, but now I'm guessing that it's actually more of a cultural thing, or something that the men were just doing to suppress the women. I really, really don't understand the argument about "wanting to see someone's face." In my line of work, I see thousands of people on a daily basis, with quite a few wearing sunglasses, hats, face masks (the doctor/construction type ones that cover your mouth and nose) or other objects that may obscure my view of their face. I have never once felt like my safety was at risk because their face was covered up. This just seems like a cheap excuse with which to justify people's discrimination or misplaced fears. I do agree that on any sort of government ID (driver's licence, ID badge for work, passport, etc.) you shouldn't be allowed to wear them in the photo, but as far as wearing one while you walk over to the market or down the street... who gives a crap what you put on your head?

France bans the niqab
A friend told me about this the other day. I said "What the hell?" then, and I'm still saying "What the hell?" now. I don't know anything about the French government, but don't they have some sort of constitution? Or do they just not give a crap about the rights of their citizens? I know the article claims that "only about 1,900 women are believed to wear face-covering veils," but that's 1,900 women who are likely going to feel more alienated than they do already. That's like trying to fine someone in America for walking around with a Bible in their hand. Edit: I would support the fine and jail-time for people who force these women to wear the veils, but really, if the woman is freely choosing to, why penalize her?

Manga/Anime Discussion
I'm only up to Chapter 89 (only the first 16 volumes of the manga have been released in the USA so far), but I am obsessed with Claymore. <3: Volume 17 doesn't come out until January of next year. :(

@abyssal_whip: Congratulations on managing to be both incredibly disrespectful and immature in only two sentences. @lizzywizzy: I commend you on having more courage than I. While my views on abortion differ from yours, I respect the route you're taking, despite all of the obstacles you see ahead of you. I think it only goes to show that your little baby will be in capable hands.

Literature
Well, my brother owned LotR and I managed to read the first two, plus the first half of Return of the King, and then I gave up. A while ago I forced myself to buy a copy of The Hobbit and it's just been sitting on my shelf, so I pick it up every once and a while and at least contemplate reading it. :P Are you enjoying it so far? ^-^

Literature
(Finally) finished reading Journey to the Center of the Earth. Overall I enjoyed it. I've started reading *gulp* Tolkien's The Hobbit; this is my second attempt to read it. Hopefully I'll get more than a few pages in this time.
