I've always referred to "driving stick" as driving a manual transmission. Afaik that's pretty much the norm here in North America.

I (mostly) know my limits, so I only ever got blackout drunk twice. The first was shortly after high school when a friend and I went shot for shot with a bottle of Bushmills. All I remember is waking up the next morning on the kitchen floor a puddle of my own vomit. The second was when I went to see Great Big Sea in a small club downtown. They serve this awesome hard cider that I was downing way too fast with predictable results. I remember about half the show, trying to crawl out of a restaurant afterwards and my friend trying to get me to stand up because they wouldn't let us leave if I couldn't stand up and walk out under my own power, and finally puking and ruining the upholstery of the cab that drove us home. I also remember the epic hangover I had afterwards. Ever since then, I've been much more careful about what and how much I drink.

I never understood why a bad credit rating meant that you pay higher interest fees. You're having enough trouble paying bills as it is and their solution is to charge you more than everybody else? It's madness. Madness, I say! :lol: Today I spoke to my boss and once again brought up my idea of opening an expansion office in Phoenix and volunteered to head it. When will he realize I'm not kidding about this? I cannot wait until I retire and can move away from anything remotely snow like.

Did you know that the character of Harry Callahan was loosely based on David Toschi, the lead investigator of the Zodiac killings? He was also the inspiration for Steve McQueen's performance in "Bullitt". Pretty badass for a guy who wore a bow tie to work. :lol: Toschi was also a consultant on the movie "Zodiac". Which means at some point he watched an actor playing him, go into a theater to watch a movie of a character based on him. It's so very meta you can almost feel the lines of reality blurring.

I'm already very familiar with all things Firefly. ;) But you're right, they definitely had the right idea. Unfortunately, as "Heart of Gold" showed us, even they still had a problem with unregistered women being mistreated.
