Cooking... not to mention that probably one of the easiest ways to get most seeds is by Thieving. So yeah... pretty silly for anyone to say a single skill will be a "backbone" for another. If the skill was simplistic, like Smithing or Runecrafting I could see someone claiming that. But it isn't going to be simple as far as design goes. Otherwise we would've had it years ago.
-
Personally, the way things were worded, there was a lot of double talk in that article. To say that this skill will have a single skill as it's backbone is probably a really big misconception. Will Hunter play a role in Summoning? Probably. But I think Magic could play an equal role in it as well. And who knows, maybe even Farming could play a role in Summoning. I just doubt Summoning will be all about using animals. Jagex made it sound as though Animals would be just a small part of Summoning. Otherwise there would be no reason to change the name back from "Animal Lore" to "Summoning". As they said it was. So in theory... the Hunting skill in of itself could consist of maybe 33% of the skill. Maybe 50%. It's not like people will have to look to high level Hunters as a means of buying levels.

stop ruining threads - if u want to complain...
Y2g2003 replied to dacona's topic in General Discussion
Speaking for the community as a whole is foolish, but to each his own. Oh and... [insert complaint here] V- What is that besides a complaint spam? And another overemphasis of words-V I'd really really really really really really really really like it if you'd stop that. -
It isn't brave when it should've been painfully obvious as to what he was doing. Think about it... a guy... investing in rares and does absolutely nothing on the game besides trade. Pop on forums such as this and get people to believe that prices are on the increase/decrease. Make a ton of GP, rinse, repeat. Nothing brave about it. And admitting to doing it does nothing. Especially if he was done with the game. The point in which I was getting at, and I think it was missed or maybe not completely spelled out... is Jagex lost control thanks to people like R2. Jagex needs to try and maybe get some control back in their own market. Grand Exchange will more then likely do that. And if Direct trading is limited or put to a complete end... you only have people like R2 to thank. Praise is the last thing you should be giving creeps like him.
-
Brave? What was brave about that? It was pretty obvious YEARS ago that he was a price manipulator. God knows I had my fair share of arguements with him about his manipulative ways, only to eventually be ignored because he knew I was right. Granted, I wouldn't have pinned him as selling his GP back then, but now it makes sense as to why he was so hell bent on trying to manipulate the rares market. It's people like him that are destroying the game, not Jagex. Jagex has to do what they think they need to do. No matter how that effects the game. And when you get pseudo-intellects like R2 trying to make real money on a game... then yeah... you're going to have conflicts of intrest. The scary thing about it is, there really isn't a way around real world trading. Even if you completely eliminate the trade system. Jagex has to at least try and cut it back though.

Summoning being confirmed, other reasons?
Y2g2003 replied to One Too Far's topic in General Discussion
Can't really compare Construction and Farming. Just because Construction wasn't capable of being created until long after Farmings release doesn't mean that Construction effected the server in the same way as Farming. You're comparing one area that is ever so slightly altering by numerous players (Construction) to numerous areas constantly being altered by numerous players (Farming). Summoning would fall in with Farming depending on how it's done. Point is, it isn't a ridiculous assumption to think that it would cause lag. -
Summoning being confirmed, other reasons?
Y2g2003 replied to One Too Far's topic in General Discussion
Personally... I never was a staker. When I read the article the day of it's release and saw something like a 3k limit... I figured a lot of stakers would be annoyed. Basically... it's to attract attention to tournaments where winning seems more legitimate. This new article, confirming summoning, was probably already planned to begin with, and people are probably reading too much into it. Some of you are so eager to call Jagex idiots, but in doing so you fail to realize that a four part diary would require a decent amount of planning and couldn't possibly be done on the fly to detract from a "mistake" in which Jagex supposedly made. First impression of what I read concerning summoning. Personally... I'm really not impressed. BUT... there's more then likely a lot more to it. Especially when some of the things that were said conflict with what they left me believeing at the end of that article. I say just wait and see where the diary is going before making any drastic assumptions about the skill (especially those who already seem to foolishly be drawing conclusions... hint hint). EDIT: In all fairness... Farming did lag the servers really bad when it first came out. So people drawing a conclusion concerning lag is a little different then going on about the in game economy and all that other garbage. -
I'm sure he charges you 1.2m to make Anti-drag shield into DFS That's pretty much his point. No one in their right mind will pay 1.2m to create an item only to resell it for less then 2.4m (at least). No person in their right mind would sell a "rare" drop for anything less then 100% profit. His estimate is just 600k off of what 100% profit would probably be. So that sounds about right to me. As far as the Dragon Boots go... The drop rate, from the sounds of it, is way too common. Even if it is a new item that they want to get out into cirrculation. Prices might rise slightly after the fact, but probably not by a significant amount. Plus you would also have to factor in the fact that people will still be getting drops if/when they change the drop rate. So you'll have boots that people are trying to sell still... plus boots that are coming in, but at maybe a slower pace. I just don't see prices rising by much... if at all.

Kind of looks like a really pissed off Fox (from the front, that is). Edit: LOL... and I just noticed the Spined Larupia costume just behind him. Which makes it look like a pissed off fox being chased by a Lion. The helm doesn't look that great. Only thing I would ever get it for is the stats.

Dragonfire Shield = Third Age prices down
Y2g2003 replied to Kill_Thomas9's topic in General Discussion
Things about that is. Most of the stuff that drop the Visage will drop left halves as well. So while people are chasing after the Visage... they'll be coming across other Dragon items. Which will maybe make 3rd Age seem all the more rarer. Not saying this would increase 3A by any means, but it really is something to think about. Not to mention that way back when... people were claiming Dragon Chain would never drop under like 20 - 30M... and from the looks of it, it's gone way below that. Third Age just seems like another Dragon Chain. Might take WAY longer to fizzle out, but eventually it will. -
Development Diaries! A new branch on the jagex tree
Y2g2003 replied to Ryuuka's topic in General Discussion
Yet people still complain about updates and are completely oblivious as to what goes into making them. I (and probably numerous others) remember coming on this forum numerous times trying to tell people about the basic steps of Game developement. It's finally nice to see it translated on their site. Sadly it's something that shouldn't have to be done. Thing is, people are too ignorant and lazy to seek out the information for themselves and then go on to make empty, baseless, complaints in a reckless attempt to get what THEY want (not what's best for the community, mind you). I think the most painful part about this update is some people will still be too stupid to actually read what effort is put into the updates, and just continue to whine. Even though the information is now right on the site itself... Which is an insult to anyone who took the time to write it. To say that "every company develops game content like this" is just silly. Because truth be told... they're probably under fire just like Jagex has been if they don't have content similar to this. There is no "big wup" about it. Not when their integrity is in question (among other things probably). -
OK Mr. Cocky-I'm-so-smart-that-was-easy-to-find, did YOU find it? Don't say something is stupid when you're below that level of intelligence, it doesn't make you sound smart at all. No offense... but the changing of the URL isn't really much of a secret these days. I mean... content from Runecrafting, Farming, and even POHs were discovered before their release with the simple tweaking of a URL. All you need is a little common sense, the will to actually seek it out, and a little bit of luck (that being if the content is even up). You make it out to be like some grand find when it really isn't. It's still nice for someone to point it out. I doubt many people would have bothered otherwise. Easy to dig up, but most people don't care (and are lazy/oblivious).

The Evolution of Varrock! (Now with NEW Varrock pics!)
Y2g2003 replied to eyehawk78's topic in General Discussion
I agree. Honestly... the only things I like about the graphical "update" is the new fountain in the square (I liked the old one too, but this one is better) and the part of the museum that I can access. This update was a step backwards. In my opinion. -
I'm a bit out of the loop as far as RS goes, but I agree. Especially when there is a spell that is lvl 45 and only requires an air staff + 1 law (Camelot tele). All you have to do is run east a bit... and there the patches are. A lvl 87 spell with those requirements that already has an area near by where you could tele to (just on another spell book) is pretty sad. Infact... I think the Spell book swap + Camelot tele is cheaper then the Catherby Teleport even. As for the Plank spell... you'd be surprised how many power lvlers would pay the extra 50gp just to save them some time. Unless the butlers are faster, then I wouldn't know why they would bother with the spell. The spell definitely wasn't what I was expecting at least. I'll leave it at that.
-
I fail to see how that new telly speeds up nat crafting. Could you tell me how? Some people walk/run from Shilo to the Nat Alter (would be my guess). The gloves would save those players a long walk back.
-
The Diary sounds good. I would worry though about the "bonus" that you get though. Depending on how many tasks you have to do... the reward could be rather disappointing. A ticket boost in the agility mini game would be nice, but for some reason I have my doubts on that.

1 April 2007 - Behind the Scenes - April 1st
Y2g2003 replied to Zygimantas's topic in General Discussion
1.) You're full of it. Learn what plagarism is. As long as credit is given with regards to a source... it isn't considered plagarism. 2.) I think you might want to head back to grade school... learn how to count again. 3.) If every thread has a reply as simple as the one above (that being the reply I just Quoted)... I'm glad that I only visit this place once every blue moon. ... Anyways... the April Fools BTS deal was alright. Surprised there were really people foolish enough to buy it... but whatever. Parts of it came off as pathetic, while other parts were amusing (though none of it made me laugh... at all). The part I found sad was this: Seemed like they indirectly admit to neglecting runecrafting to a certain degree. Blood Rune crafting, along with the others, should've been out years ago. And I just found that to be really pathetic that they joke about it and probably think that it's funny. -
Well... it's nice to know that some people consider me to be famous. I didn't ever consider myself one, well known at best maybe, but it's still nice either way. Figured that was at least worth a reply. Thanks again.
-
Its kind of always been that way for me really... even when the Fire Giants drop half keys. I was more likely to get a loop then a teeth half.
-
Thats what I was about to ask while skimming over this thread. Some of the spells are decent, but a lot higher in level then I was expecting. Thats not exactly a bad thing... but lvl 65 just to make a pie? It looks real promising as far as group support goes. Now all they need is a Grouping feature, so that people can join in parties together. That would be something. I don't see how they expect the spells to take off well, if the rune can't easily be made. Unless theres a bank on that island... the first trip will be a rough one.

Nothing in Runescape is completely Random... No matter what anyone suggests or thinks. And it amuses me everytime I see someone try to emphasis on the word "random". The area in which lightning strike is random. The chances of getting a certain "random event" on runescape isn't. If the events were totally random... you would be able to get any random at any time (and that just isn't the case). The only thing random is when you get the random, which even that can sometimes be controlled (depending on what it is you're doing). The thing is, some of the random events have no classification. That meaning they aren't specified for a specific skill (like the Shade is for burrying bones, the Troll is for fishing, and so on...). The "randoms" that aren't classified can literally pop up when you are doing anything (even standing/running). So that could explain why they seem so much more common. And since flething doesn't have any assigned randoms... you can basically get any random that isn't skill specific. And the randoms, based on what I've seen and read are probably connected to a drop list similar to the NPC drops. Since it IS obvious that the Mime is rather rare. Sorry for the babbling, hope I touched on everything I wanted to say.

"NO" Loopholes in rules regarding real world item
Y2g2003 replied to danago's topic in General Discussion
You can still get them for account sharing/trading... so its not like its a real effective loophole. People just think they're being clever, when they really aren't. -
1.) Yeah we do, its just that you're too full of yourself to realize that. 2.) No it isn't. People make idiotic names all the time. And I can only imagine what people have for passwords. 3.) It really doesn't matter if the account is fake or not, once you think of it. If you are so open to let people think you're sharing an account... They might as well punish you and make sure you're never going to do it (or to cease doing it). 4.) Oh, I think they can read. You're just bitter for the simple fact that your little "joke" backfired on you. And now you want to tell the world of your sorrow. ...Either way... If you get unbanned... I seriously hope you learn your lesson.
-
They really aren't that hard to get. Just go kill a few pirates...
-
*shrugs* No one held a gun to your head and made you act in a deceptive manner. Why people do these stupid things is beyond me. Did you seriously think that Jagex would overlook the fact that you gave out what you said to be a username and password? Or expect them to even look into it? I look at it this way... You're the one that was scamming first. That other moron wasn't much better, probably even worse, but yous both deserved a ban. Baiting people is just weak. Infact, I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't take action against that guy.
