  1. Auto Miner mining while auto RCer RCing would be the most logical explanation. I mean if they're going to auto... they're going to do it to the fullest extent. Basically... they'll probably automine the essence and then trade the essence to the RCer. EDIT: Guess you'd be referring to the obsticles too, sorry, it's a little early, not awake yet. The amount of EXP gained from it is probably insignificant enough that they might not be gaining much. Checking their Total lvls could give you an idea of what they might have, but that might not be very accurate. EDIT2: For those saying that working the Abyss would be harder to program... WRONG. All they have to do is have the characters carry a pick, tinder box, and a axe. And then they can literally go to any one spot and pass.
  2. Nothing I'll be doing will be specificly geared towards preparing for summoning. Once my membership gets renewed I want to train Hunter, since I've never got to do it. And I want at least 65 Hunter to catch Imps. Between training Hunter, I wanted to craft Nat Runes for alching, so if the update requires Pure Essence... I might already have some mined by then. If not... I'll just figure out what I need when the skill comes out, and then get it. Personally... I think the rock will be the new essence to make a new rune for this skill. So pure essence might be useless for this skill.
  3. The updates aren't bad by any means. It's just sensationalists blowing everything out of proportion again. And no, I'm not calling you a sensationalist, you're just buying into what one says. You have to understand the source before you try and make something of which he states into a subject. R2 was nothing but a manipulator of the market and will always be that in many people's eyes. You really can't take anything he says seriously. Why you ask? Because he is a contributor to the reasons why the game is turning into what he thinks it is becoming. Now... onto the friends subject... Really, certain areas promote more conversations then others. I find myself talking more doing some tasks then I do others. Mining and Smithing I'm hardly ever talking (even when smelting)... While I could easily be a chatter box while Fishing and doing anything combat related. I've struck up brief conversations while mining, so it's possible. The opportunity just isn't there most of the time. And really... it's always been like that in all the years I've been playing. Now the guilds are filled with autoers and Fally east bank has an occasional auto typer advertising some lame site I'll never visit, but with the advances of the chat system... I don't even have to resort to setting them on ignore. I just turn on clan chat and go about my business. Really... nothing stated in the first post rings true at all. As far as I'm concerned.
  4. Um, they said themselves that they are trying to control it. "Stabilize" is just one form of control. I'd rather have Jagex bring stability to an unstable economy rather then let a bunch of loners continue to manipulate certain areas of the unstable economy. If you want to define what Jagex is doing as controlling. What do you classify the price manipulators as? Exactly... You people try way to hard to come up with conspiracies.
  5. From personal experience? I've had no problems selling anything that I've put up. I've sold anything from a random rune ore that I got from a random event... all the way down to a bunch of soft clay that I had banked. I was selling Mith sets like they were going out of style, I've probably made the most money selling those. Their price was dropping and took a little longer to sell at times, but I was still making a decent profit. I gave up on that for now and am just skilling. It's all depends on what's in heavy supply I guess. And how much you're asking for per item. I'll sell my stuff for min price. Seems to go a lot faster at least.
  6. I'm going to assume that this was mainly directed at me. And I never said that Summoning was in production for at least 4 years. I'm pretty sure the Developement Diary suggests otherwise anyways. What I did say was the material was in CONCEPT since 04. Which the Developement Diary actually does help prove that, but has been a fact for years. It was actually a concept long before that, since they did origionally want Summoning and POH/Construction is RSC. So these ideas have been in concept for even longer then I origionally stated. You seem extremely ignorant about programming. While I'm not a programmer myself, I actually took time to understand, comprehend, and appreciate the phases in which games go through. If you've ever Beta tested you'd know that a lot of things will slip through because coding things where only a select few can test, then moving to a wider range of players will alter things or make things more apparent then what they origionally would have been. For instance... placing a tree on the ground could look perfectly normal to the individual programming it, but once it hits the core game, it could end up "floating". To say that if something being worked on in 4 years should be golden is absolutely foolish by any stretch of the imagination. Bugs and glitches are going to get through, even if they test and retest. I think people need to get that through their thick skulls.
  7. Actually... I think you're the one missing the point. You're comparing material from WOW, claiming Runescape is becoming unorigional... yet the material you see coming out has been in concept FOR YEARS. Your arguement has absolutely nothing to it. They've planned on bringing these things out. The concepts are common in all major MMPORPGS. You're starting to sound like a real troll.
  8. It's an exageration to claim that they "copy" off anything. These concepts have been in developement before WOW was even out. WOW was released in late 04, Beta of RS2 was released in early 04. Summoning, Grand Exchange, POH, and even Dueling were in concept around this time. So... who copied who? Simple, no one. Just because they have the same general idea doesn't mean it was copied. Not even by the slightest stretch of the imagination. These ideas are so general that you don't even need to look at the competition to see what they're doing. It's all about growing as a game.
  9. Ya but people dont know SQUAT about the skill yet, so don't go assuming stuff like that. The game doesnt lag extra with the GE, which covers ALL servers. FOr ONce people - stop underestimating Jagex. Who said I was? It's like Jessy said, the GE is on it's own dedicated server. And even the GE had an issue the first day due to the massive amounts of trades. To an extent where it actually had to be taken down for a brief amount of time in order to be fixed. Which had a lot of noobs rioting. Farming is a prime example of what could happen with Summoning, and probably will. Server overload, server lags, Jagex realizes that the server needs a nice little upgrade, upgrade it within about a day. It's really that simple. EDIT: And next time you suggest that people don't know "squat", don't pretend that you actually know what you're talking about as well.
  10. It really isn't a question of whether Java can handle it. Obviously it can since it's coming. I think the quest should be how will a full, or even half full, server be able to handle all of the Summoning activity. Personally, I think some of the servers will lag quite a bit, but it's nothing that can't be fixed.
  11. People fail to realize that there is more then one logical explanation for this change. Whether it be due to Real World Trading, the Gambling aspects, or to even make tournaments the standard... They're all decent, and legitimate reasons to make the change. Anyone against this update is either too narrow minded to see the logical reasoning behind it or was too big of a benefactor of the system before the change (in other words you have a bias opinion). The change just flat out made sense.
  12. Well, I hung around Lumby for awhile when I was a newb. So it was either a Man, a Goblin, or a Cow. I probably was killed by all three at some point in my newbie career. We're talking about a guy that was afraid of an imp because it looked too much like a devil (back on RSC). I remember being attacked by a Mugger once while mining clay, I think. And I thought it was an actual player.
  13. The only problem with the idea is, I think you have to go all the way back to Varrock in order to exchange the box for the armor. I could be wrong on that though. I did notice that there was a "Destroy" option on the boxes, but I didn't feel like risking a full set of mith to see what it did. Maybe tomorrow I'll waste some time putting together a Bronze set or something.
  14. As the market stands right now here are the figures as far as mith goes: All prices are done on the high end (max price): Set (L & S both): 10,747 Full Helm: 1,221 Kite: 2,203 Plate: 4,669 Legs/Skirt: 2,594 Total: 10,687 Profit per set: 60 So no, it isn't really worth it. At least at this point. And honestly, I don't even think it'll be that profitable once prices are stable. I did look into raw materials earlier. And buying Mith ore and mining the coal yourself would actually be profitable. Thing about that is... where coal is the most accessible is where mith ore is available as well on F2P worlds (Mining guild). So to buy Mith ore at cost to only go to the exact place where the mith ore is to mine coal seems almost foolish. Especially when you'd be making a ton of profit if you just took the extra time to mine the ore along with the coal.
  15. Armor parts are a little different then armor sets. Personally, I would think that armor sets will be more sought after. People who die might end up having to buy a new helmet or shield as far as armor goes, but that's about it. While players moving up in levels will be looking for sets.
  16. 12 sets of Mith armor will get you a little over 100k right now. Basically you can profit greatly by mining your own materials, smithing the bars, and turning the bars into sets. When it comes to buying the bars yourself... you start losing quite a bit of money. Which is the mathmatical error in which I alluded to earlier (in another thread). I bought 156 mith bars via the GE and basically miscalculated the amount per bar it would take to make a set. That little mistake cost me about 91k, but lesson learned, I guess. I didn't venture off into purchasing the ores and mining the coal myself... or visa versa, but maybe that's something I'd be willing to look into later. But yeah... right now... if you do everything yourself... you can bring in a good bit of profit, I would think. That's what I experienced with Mith, at least.
  17. Basically those are my thoughts exactly.
  18. So, uh, hey buddy! What do mith sets sell for again? I'm pretty sure I can make full mith... lol... the sets I sold were between 9k and 10k. Think it was roughly 9,557, or some odd number like that. (basically, it's roughly 3k more then alching a set would get you)
  19. Actually, the game was made "easy" by your standards long before any of the updates you stated came about. The game was easy with the introduction of RS2. So what is it exactly that you're talking about? The target audience is children. Which is something people fail to realize constantly. A game shouldn't have to be complicated to be fun. This game was really never ment to be complicated. Some things about this game can be made complex by those smart enough to actually make it complex. You don't have to take the "easy" way out. You can go out, build up your raw materials and basically do exactly what you did on RSC. Single clicking isn't and wont ever be obsolete. It's your inability to resist the temptation of doing so, if anything. So really, nothing added has "ruined" this game for you. Your own mind is ruining the game for you. Once you stop and think about it for a second.
  20. Well I don't know if Wizard Robes would be in supply, I can only speak of what I've personally experienced. Today I managed to sell roughly 3.5k Oak logs, and about 40 Full Mith (l) Sets. And my first 25 sets of mith sold within 5 minutes of my posting them. The first 12 went within seconds.
  21. There are probably more sellers then buyers, but it depends on whats in demand, what isn't being made as much, and what is an overabundance. Nats will probably sell quick, but a lot of Nat crafters might've tossed their Nat runes in the second they found out GE was out. And the price you have them selling for is a huge factor as well. Cheaper runes will sell quicker then the more expensive runes. Not exactly sure how you listed them, but those are a few things to take into consideration. Interesting fact: It appeared as though F2Pers could purchase Pure Essence through the GE system. Though I didn't try it personally.
  22. Personally, I'm liking this system. And once prices are stable... I'll probably like it even more so. Today was the most I've played in months. Honestly in all my years of playing/following this game, I've never had so much fun. This feature takes away all the standing around and forum topic watching. You state what you want, what your willing to pay, and just go on about your business. Check back later and hope you get what you want or sold what you were selling. And buying things usually goes way quicker then selling, from what I've seen. I made a mathatical error and lost maybe 91k, but aside from that I had a blast. And even that wasn't enough to take the wind out of my sails. I simply shrugged it off and laughed. It's not a perfect system by anymeans, but it is extremely close to it. Basically, if you want to get what you want quickly... you have to pay the max. And it's the exact opposite with selling. If you want to sell fast, you have to sell for the minimum, and even that can take some time. Luckily the minimum for the item in which I was selling was like 3k higher in the alch values. So this GE system could be better then alching for some things for awhile. Until things drop, if they drop.
  23. Perfect Congratulations, you are the first person to ever make the great Y2G almost make a one word reply. Minus this caption and the quote.
  24. Well you can look at it from two different perspectives: - The person who died deserves to lose the item(s) - The people who can't last a minute to pick up said item(s) dropped aren't worthy of them either I see your point, but protecting the newbies in Lumbridge are probably one good reason to increase it to a minute. It's not like they carry a lot of valuable things, but some of the things are hard to come by for a newbie. Take age into consideration, as Benoit said, and the learning curve is increased dramatically.
  25. Honestly, the only reason why it sounded that way is the simple fact that they went back and forth on what to call the skill. Basically, the entire point of the article in which they released was them babbling on about trying to turn a basic concept into actual content. And properly naming that content into a skill. Actual information about the core mechanics and actual content of the skill probably wont be disclosed until the second or third (maybe even forth) article. With some of which not even being disclosed at all until the day of the skills release.
