  1. Woahhh someone else knows of random Swedish Vampire Horror Romances besides me?? Yeah if she hates movies with creepy children and lots of blood, i wouldn't go for Let the Right One In..but horror movies are generally a good pick as long as you're ok with em
  2. Zezima's fame still hasn't died out even though a lot of new players won't know him, so he's first now and a year ago...5 years ago..zezima still i guess. I started playing 5 years ago (WTF???) and the only famous player i really knew was zezima.
  3. No offense here to anyone...but if someone starts eating hundreds of fully cooked manta rays in Runescape and then expects that to translate into real life, they might deserve the heart disease -.- well that sounds awful
  4. No one ever wants to scam me with PMs I feel unloved  Well i'm glad you got out of this safely...good reminder to all!

  6. Depends on how you definite metal...like there's a difference between Dream Theater and Avenged Sevenfold and Megadeth. I'd say bands like Avenged Sevenfold and System of a Down are becoming more and more popular, but still not THAT popular. It's really runescape though, it's the internet. Most serious internet users (those who are members of forums, play videogames, etc--one might say "nerd" but that doesn't seem right in this case) are fans of metal. If you check out a lot of different forums, you'll still find that most people are big on the bands everyone here is big on. I'm kind of an exception though in that case...Indie and Classic and Early Alt rock here
  7. I came into this thread expecting like super obscure metal bands that everyone but me had heard of...but i know most of these bands lol. I really like this list. It's got some terrific albums...making a top 50 list is hard, let alone a top 10 list. Good stuff. Like the R.E.M. album right there at number 3...but New Adventures in High-Fi is my favorite of theirs.
  8. hands down. Oh wait...this is the worst music videos ever? Dang, thought it was the best ones ever... EDIT: HOLY CRAP. Me and the guy above me posted the exact same video and i totally didn't see that until looking through the thread after i posted...woahhh
  9. I'm Not There Again Sooo trippy
  10. I don't see how a world could be like "dry"...how that could be programmed...it's really all just luck.
  11. Staying f2p is quite a bit easier than going from f2p to p2p to f2p i can say...it's soooo rough coming back to f2p after being a member for like 2 years. Real rough. Can't do anything you can do, and i have no bankspace now and forgot to organize it for f2p. You'd be surprised with the fun you can have.
  12. Um...i think the beauty of it all is that there is no way to complete runescape ever until they stop making updates..
  13. Well, some of the old jagex vagueness still shines through  ! But not to be a downer or anything. This is good, i mean it doesn't really clear it up...them partnering with us to help us with what we need is very cool, but i wonder where the line would be drawn. I personally am a big fan of their event aid to come! \
  14. Little mean, coulda just let him go and ignored him lol...but funny story. Good stuff  if someone actually said to me: "Give me some of your hard earned money for no reason other than that I am too lazy to get it myself, and for some reason I believe I am entitled to an easier time playing this game than everyone else!" I would probably actually give them money lol
  15. Ah, i apologize then. 20 pages  I was just taking your opinion from the dog analogy. Anyway, i fullheartedly agree. i think the one compromise we can make on abortion is that sex ed needs to be bolstered--that's one policy that we can (mostly) agree can help reduce the conflict between having an abortion or not. When a woman gets pregnant though (now), she may not know any better. Honestly, i mean it's kind of hard for us to imagine since we are obviously well aware of the reprecussions of un-safe sex and how you can make it safe, but some people don't know (thus sex-ed). In that sense then, aren't you just punishing ignorance rather than trying to fix it? As i'm writing this i'm trying so hard to actually write stuff that can be debated about...it's very hard to not tread into the waters of "fetus=human" "no it doesn't!". We make choices all the time about killing human beings though, keep that in mind. Consider cases where we take human life and are morally unopposed to it--human life that is sentient, potentially innocent, and unknown to us. We can morally justify slaughtering people we don't know. Yet we see things the other way when we talking about a woman being forced to have a child she simply does not to have, that was procreated out of ignorance? The woman in some cases may have made that choice, indeed. Ignorance may not be the culprit in some cases. But i still feel that it's remarkably insensitive to place the burden of having a child on a woman who simply refuses to want to have it instead of aborting a being who is not sentient. And here we are again, social reprecussions versus moral ones. But i also find a trace of ethics in my argument. It's ethically wrong to knowingly to FORCE a woman to go through an act she doesn't want to go through, because some people who aren't having her child and who aren't living with that burden told her to do so.
  16. What is this talk about war bein bad for an economy? Silly goose, war is great for economies, but bad for people who die and don't get that economy. War creates a large demand for goods, which creates jobs. Yay jobs. Plus the spoils of war and economic benefits. Mage, you're very right on infrastructure and why most people believe that the stimulus will be good. A lot of people talk about how these companies need to be punished for stupid transactions...this is silly. While these companies screwed up sure, you can't just screw everyone over by saying "they messed up, they shouldn't get money". These companies drive our economy, and if they go under, so does everyone else.
  17. This post had me chuckling. Why, yes he did fail in the first few days of office...if you were bitter about the election, did not like him whatsoever, and had it in your mind that whatever he did was going to fail. The bailout bill comes down to the fundamental issue of 21st century American politics: Democrats like to spend, Republicans hate it, and both sides will spin it both ways to suit them. You're just spinning it one way. The bailout bill is coincidentially opposed and supported 50-50! hm...
  18. Oh please. How one sided you are. And i don't mean like "ohh ur not thinking like i think so ur wrong". I mean like you're not looking at the full scope of the situation, you're just focusing in on one area and ignoring the rest. I think abortion is a tricky issue, and if you believe that human life starts at that point, then who am i to tell you that you're wrong and your ethics are warped because mine are different? I can't say that. It's just like arguing if god is real or not. There's no way to advance any argument. You either believe or you don't, and i tolerate either opinion. I do not tolerate arguments like this, however. First, the dog is fully sentient in this case. A blastosphere is not sentient, for it has no brain. You're talking about a situation where you kill something that has been born already, rather than killing something that hasn't had a thought yet, which is what everyone else here is talking about. Need better analogy. Second, your point is 100% acurate except the whole thing i adressed in the first part. Yes, it is quite unfortunate. That dog could've won Westminster or something! Who knows what it could've accomplished? Shame that the dog was killed. But, let's suppose that this dog was a championship winning dog for a moment. You adressed the care and the money necessary to handle this dog. Well let's say this woman was in line to get a great job at a great pharmacutical company, and was in line to maybe even cure AIDS. But now she has to devote all her time and energy to this dog, feeding it, caring for it, and she has to arrest her dreams. Basically, the point is, you can't look at this through an intraverted lens. You have to see the full spectrum, realize that it effects many more people than the potential child. I'm not trying to prove here that abortion should go on, i am trying to prove that this argument, that claims that killing a potential child is unjust to what the child could've become, is unfair. It does not respect the woman involved in the situation. And say she does keep the child. She does give up on her dreams. What then? The child has to suffer through a miserable 18 years, going through a life where it cannot be supported? A life that could perpetuate more situations like this? I'm not saying you're wrong, because you're definitely not. But i am saying that it's more complicated than you try to make it.
  19. Bet that took quite a number of games of SC to get that  Probably never want to set foot in there again! Nice job, quite an accomplishment
  20. I"ll probably just dip into my harum and pick out a nice lady for the day
  21. I'm a pretty big liberal on most issues, including abortion. I don't however support this act, and think it's the wrong way to go about it. Your reasons however, are not the best. The forcing of relgious hospitals to shut down is a big no no, and that is a valid point though. You discuss how it doesn't give punishment to kids and doesn't give them an incentive to not have sex. This is..no. Just no. First off, take a look at teen pregnancy rates. They are extraordinarily high, and this is WITH your Isn't it then fair to say that laws that ban abortion are actually in fact poor incentives to teens? I mean who's to say if the rates would rise (i guess they wouldn't of course with free abortion, but say hypothetically FOCA passes, all these teens go and do their business and then FOCA is repealed) if FOCA was passed? Hard to say. But it's without doubt that these things that you talked about that ban abortion do NOT serve as a factor that makes kids necessarily think twice about sex. And in fact, your punishment analogy loses strength, since none of the kids actually feel threatened by the consequences of their actions. Second, i'm going to play devil's advocate and take the opposing viewpoint. Say you aren't allowed abortions, like many states require. What happens when you do get pregnant, like 75 out of 1000 teens anually do? You have to keep your child, and raise it. You have to drop out of school and dedicate your life to raising the child, thus depriving you of an educated and successful life. You talk about punishments though: this is what you get. Oh please. I can understand wanting to punish the mother maybe (though the father goes unpunished. Those who use this argument are inherently sexist (whether they actually are or not) by saying the woman should be punished and leave out the reprecussions for the man.). That's still a tricky argument, since about half of teenagers have had sex before. It's quite commonplace really. It's not quite, but almost like saying after a guy gets hit while he's jaywalking "oh well. He deserved it because he was jay walking". But i digress. Anyway, it punishes the child as well. It deprives the child of having a life where it can be supported by the mother in an effective way. Teen mothers aren't equipped, and it denies the child the right to fair living. Not only this, but it can also potentially punish the parents! yes, the parents, who might have to look after the child instead (i know a case where this is happening with a friend of mine). So you can't look at it as punishment for the women. It's sexist and doesn't acknowledge the other players in the ordeal who didn't actually do anything wrong, yet are punished for it. Oh, and the government too. Government's gotta pay. That said, I don't believe FOCA is the right way to go about abortion laws. It's far too encroaching on rights of people who may not adhere to abortion, people who I respect.
  22. Ah, this is true. My entire post is based around that assumption. But based on this assumption, this is why we feel the way we do. Which is why Mirrorforced asked for clarification ;) . I'm not trying to convince you that this is what they will do, i'm trying to convey to you our feelings, is all. To defend my analogy: You need to read into it more and realize that money=event goers, not..like..actual money. AHHH MORE PEOPLE MISSING ANALOGY. Money=Event Goers! You have to take the whole thing in context!!! And to the last part: Actually, i referenced everything you said in my post :) . So if you brush it over one last time, you'll see that i do talk about us being flattered (at least three times perhaps), as well as jagex obviously and most certainly not being able to tell us about their future plans. I'd call it a conundrum. We really are torn. While it is flattering, we do feel slightly used, which I doubt i am going to persuade you of. In regards to the other things that you have said...it is not my business.
  23. Hey guys. I feel like there's a lot of bad vibes going towards the TET right now about what's been said, and i want to clear that up. I know i'm not a leader, and I know that out of all the TET members that are around, I, in recent memory have been one of the least heard from. But i know what the TET is feeling right now, and we really haven't been doing a good job explaining that to you. So you may not have as much respect for me as other members, but hear what I have to say. I feel like we've articulated this the wrong way, and we're coming off seeming like we're really egocentric. I can sort of understand why people are taking that from it. And it's hard to take take this in context. We're saying that we're angry jagex is copying us, and I can totally see why people are saying "OMG TET UR SO CONCERNED BOUT URSELVES". You need some background, and to not take this from the perspective of you, but the perspective of us. Jagex repeatedly followed us around for a month or two, saying how much they like our events and what we do for the community. Always nice to be complemented i suppose, no one really expects much. Next they decide to make an event system. That's all well and good that they're doing it for the community and such. I for one am kind of excited that they're trying to do this, and think it may turn out really good and awesome (yet also potentially really crowded and laggy but we'll see lol). But we as a team feel slightly used. They came to our events, congratulated us on a job well done, and now it appears as though they're mimicing us. At the risk of appearing egocentric, I'm going to say that it's more complex than being mad about not getting credit (because it really isn't about that). I would say that if they had informed us that they might want to potentially possibly maybe in the future use some of our event styles (in a typically ambigous jagex way that may be a thing of the past now lol), that would've been ok. It's understandably hard to not see this and not automatically think that we're just pissed because jagex didn't give us any credit. But really, think about it. For instance, say you have a really sick lemonade stand. It's like the most ballin lemonade ever. This guy from a big lemonade company comes along and starts sampling your lemonade, and he really likes it and tells you that you've done well. He does this for a while, sampling your lemonade. About a week later, the big lemonade company releases a new type of lemonade that is exactly your type of lemonade, except now it's mass-produced and goes to everyone, not just the people on your block. It's hard to not feel a little used there, especially when no credit was given and no intention was displayed. EDIT: Due to some confusion on this analogy, i suggest taking the whole analogy in context of itself before taking in context of us and Jagex. The money generated from the big lemonade company's lemonade stand does not equate to Jage garnering money from our event ideas...that's the equivalent of saying Jagex literally stole our lemonade recipe (Which, as i can confirm safely, we have none). No. Money=Event Goers. I'm not saying Jagex is stealing our event goers also! That's adressed in other places Jagex not only came to our events, but gave us complements about how we were running them and what we did. Honestly, we were pretty excited about that. I mean come on, you can understand being excited when a J-Mod PMs you and says thank you! It was good stuff. But now this comes out, and it just looks like they came to the events just to see how they were being run and how to do them. While it's certainly flattering that Jagex felt compelled enough to go to our events to see how we ran them, if their whole intention was just to mimic what we and other event teams did, did they have to say "Jolly good show!" and such? Our feelings of satisfaction immedietly went to feelings of being used, which is frustrating. Let me re-iterate this, because it seems as though no one is hearing it. We do NOT (i repeat: NOT!) think that we're somehow bigger and greater than those around us, and it's sad that we're being viewed that way. We don't think we're special in some way for hosting events, and we DO NOT think that we have some sort of entitlement to host events, and no one else can do this! I will also re-iterate again that i see plenty of benefits from this, and I myself am excited for the potential opportunities that this could bring for everyone. If these events prove to be more popular than TET events, so be it. I can be proud to say that I played a role in helping something with such broad appeal happen. I am not a leader, and i cannot speak for the rest of the team. It's a classic conflicting situation that we feel. I mean, anyone who is mimiced by someone or something else can feel flattered that someone would copy them in the first place. It is an honor that Jagex would do that. Yet, as i've stated, we feel dismayed. Honestly, I feel like that had jagex come to our events and not told us about it, not sent us any message, we would've said the same thing. And that initial reaction may have been the incorrect one. I would not be posting this if my only complaint was that Jagex is going to run the TET into the ground and that it stole our ideas, because these arguments are simply ludacris. The fact of the matter is, they did let us know that they were there, and they did say "Loving your community efforts. They're much appreciated". I look at my teammate's responses, and we felt touched, honored and respected. Yet when they come out and say this, we feel used. I've said it a lot, and i'll keep on saying it because it needs to be said frequently. We feel used. We feel flattered, but we feel like Jagex did not steal from us, but that we were led on. These Mods had no obligation to speak out. They would certainly not be allowed to us what their plan was for the grand scheme of things, and would obviously not be able to tell us. Yet, just like the lemonade stand analogy, they used us. That's what it feels like. And i mean, now that i've typed all this out, there is no winning side here. It's a philosophical argument about mimics, that's what it boils down to lol. One side is going to believe that we should be honored, another is going to say that they misled us. The purpose of this lengthy adress is to convey to you how we feel, and why we're slightly distraught by this whole ordeal. Jagex came in, complemented us, left, and decided to make their own events system. If they had not said anything, and released it, it would've been fine except for the initial shock. But they did mislead us, seeming like they wanted to partake in the events for the fun, when really they wanted to observe--which is both flattering and distressing. So. Summay: Jagex mislead us by seeming like they came to events for fun and told us that, but really they wanted ideas on how things were run. I hope that clarifies everything. I mean obviously you can disagree with our feeling, but the feeling's there, and I hope you all understand. We, the TET, do want to make sure that people don't believe however that we're upset because jagex stole from us, were unoriginal, lied, or because we're just egocentric jerks lol. Thanks.
  24. To you...i mean i personally can't stand most of those bands because they're just not good in my opinion. But this isn't a music debate of course. Hocus Pocus--Focus.
  25. Arguably the biggest summer music festival's line up has been partially released, as of yesterday morning. Bonnaroo is held in Manchester, Tennessee and includes about 120 different acts ranging from Indie to Metal to Trance to Hip Hop to Jam bands. Last year's headliners included Metallica and Kanye West but this year they're going in a different direction. This year's headliners will be Bruce Springsteen and Phish (2 nights). The concert is from June 11th-14th and people who go go and camp out and go to concerts literally all day, which is kinda of amazing. Other notable (in my opinion lol) acts include Girl Talk, MGMT, Coheed and Cambria, Wilco, moe., Okkervil River, Grizzly Bear, Snoop Dog, Nine Inch Nails, The Beastie Boys, People Under the Stairs, etc. It should be kind of amazing. tickets will be about $300, and go on sale this saturday. Wondering if anyone in the TIF community is gonna check out..hopefully i'll be out there! Full Line Up: http://www.bonnaroo.com/artists.aspx
