  1. Meh. Less inclined to play knowing PvM will forever be a joke. Guess I'll just PK till I get bored. I wonder what Jagex is gonna do after this 6 months "testing if 07 is popular before possibly bumping up the price" they stated after the initial poll. Maybe I get lucky and get out of an overpriced subscription of PVM addiction :P
  2. Jagex are an entertainment provider that we pay money to so their player's boredom is certainly their problem. And all this price nonsense when you realise it's all player assigned. The AGS was only worth 120m as players decided it should be. (FYI this was in the era that you lost stuff for good on death in PVP, in the current game it just goes from 1 player to the next and piles up till every player has an AGS or 2.) The reason GWD was good money is because noobs and bots couldn't do it. The alch value of the drops was relatively low. Runescape without PVM is just PVPscape. Or "lol i got a 99 firemaking, I'm not entirely sure why."
  3. Why mine and smith addy bars? I can just kill avaniese! I agree with this one, making the bars such a common drop was a flaw and should be changed. Why WC, fletch, and alch yew longs? I can just kill spirit mages! Because Spirit mages give nothing worth obtaining? Dboots? I don't see how they relate. And making the same item a billion times to turn it into magic money does NOT sound like a good game mechanic, killing stuff to get their cool loot sounds way cooler. Why learn to merchant? I can just kill bandos! You can do both. And again, merching is very clearly way way less of the intended gameplay than killing a big boss is. Plus merching will always be infinitely better money. Why make money and other way? I can just GWD for a lost more money a lot faster! This is because the players find the GWD drops more valuable as they enjoy combat and not enough players obtain the GWD drops while billions of bots fletch and alch and run nature runes making them relatively worse. No. No no no no no no no! Yeah. They wrecked the game They made the game.
  4. Pretty sure anything can\will be botted if bots are let to run rampant. I was always surprised they didn't make bots for stuff like Corp and Bandos, they were very simple and profitable tasks and death was no biggie with the lengthy gravestones/time allowed to get back at corp. But yeah. They didn't, in all those years. I can't see them doing it now.
  5. DDS destroys mains. The only reason I don't use it more often vs dharoks is because it's similarly low accuracy brother, granite maul, is more dangerous in the typical none-death match fight. I'd always use a granite maul over a godsword with dharoks, in fact.
  6. It will absolutely not pass a 75% vote. More than 25% of players will never be able to fight in GWD or afford/equip an item. Plus there's a huge crowd of "NO CHANGE EVER" (Tab to reply and roof removal got like 13% no...) Plus there are a huge group of people such as pures that hate the possibility of the DDS not being the only OP weapon in the game. It's an update that is very slightly bad or mediocre to most players, and extremely important to the remaining minority. I really hope jagex realize this and don't put it to a 75% poll. I'll be really upset if it's given a definite no. Zerk rings will be like 2k each as PVMers will have nothing else to do.
  7. Yeah I've seen an increase past 48 hours too, bizarre. I've decided to not care though. All bots have ever done is make unbottable stuff worth more, but with no worthwhile unbottable PVM (Other than DKs), nothings gonna change, everything is bottable. Maybe zerk rings go up a little relative to everything else. Maybe there are more ess bots than rc bots so ess is cheaper. Meh. Oh and it'll probably lead to more dumb people with money to lose in the wilderness, which is great.
  8. I don't think it's unfair to say they should just revert to old combat. But assuming that's not an option (We all know Jagex will %100 commit to their bad ideas no matter how hated they are, see rock climbers)... I'd like to see special weapons back. This pseudo combat variety of new abilities and new purposes for previously turd weapons has only made the combat options less varied and taken all the fun out of combat as a whole, especially PVP.
  9. And here's me thinking I was being smart to stop at 43 strength while training attack because the next few strength levels don't increase my max hit. Still worth keeping track of for PVP purposes. You'd rather have a small chance of hitting a high number, over an extra cb level without an increase in max hit. It also solves the mystery as to why I tended to hit other values much more often than I did my max hit despite them having the same chance under my assumption it was rounded down to integers, I begrudgingly put it down as confirmation bias.
  10. I got mine on my first ever kill. I immediately ended the trip and took a pic of the adv log (lost pic :()
  11. This. Brilliant, however, I guarantee you that it has been suggested before, or that JaGEX has thought about it. However, news flash, JaGEX makes money by keeping bots. Members who bot pay for memberships (duh). And that's a pretty sizable amount I'd guess. And if JaGEX "takes up the war against bots" they could implement what you suggested and I would guess it'd not be very difficult. But they would lose thousands of members and only maybe get the good PR. But if they pretend to war against bots, they get somewhat good PR, bot members stay, and they don't have to really do anything. Thus making money for less work the goal of nearly any business. This used to be common knowledge but it seems at least to me that Jagex are actually trying to save their game for the people that enjoy it with the RS07 stuff being introduced, I wouldn't be overly surprised if they finally made a solid effort to remove bots. The (Silly) law suit threats were when I think Jagex stepped up their game, that kind of thing might ACTUALLY discourage a person from botting unlike previous PR stunts. It's difficult to say how removal of bots would effect the game, people that use bots may just start playing legit instead, I'm absolutely sure there is a "If you can't beat them, join them" mentality among casual botters, so these would be relieved if anything.
  12. Delaying and identifying bots would be very easy. Just use a capcha system. Scrambled text only a human can read, implement them as randoms. Bots can theoretically read them if they recognize the pattern or there is a limited amount of possible capcha variants that they are on the look out for. This can be rectified by just changing the capchas in a significant way every few months. This was done in classic but the system was very poor and no work was done to improve it. Edit: My profession is software developer and I've been working with people developing "anti-capcha" technology, and can tell you how difficult it is for the professionals of the field to do. Runescape bot creators are typically hobbyists at most.
  13. I think it might actually be a good idea to reevaluate the levels required to do stuff. If we're insistent that the whip and barrows will be the best weapons and armour in the game forever, we should make the stat requirements higher so that not everyone can use the best items in the game at nooby stats. In turn, we'll increase stats for dragon and others relative to everything else. It makes no sense to leave the last 3rd of levels completely bare and empty.
  14. Every other forum I've ever used has a pop up saying "This image is too large" or something and will not let the user use it automatically. Tip.it didn't and because it didn't I assumed mine was fine without checking... Seems like a very easy thing to implement and a silly thing to give "warning points" over.
  15. Prices are determined by players. When the GE was around, this price was decided by the average trade made by the average player, a clean vision of current supply and demand Without the GE, this price will be decided by the most vocal players that are buying or selling. Completely unstable and open to manipulation on a grand scale. I recently had the idea to get a lot of friends to make artificial buy/sell offers for granite mauls much lower than what they currently go for, to force competition and lower the average price. It only takes a few forum posts. I'll refrain from doing it till I have money to invest, but boy oh boy, it's going to be easier than ever to manipulate the market. And i think that's a large part of the reason why people don't want the GE. Because everyone thinks they're smarter than everyone else, they will be the leet mercher; making the system more open to manipulation is great because they'll be the geniuses buying at location and selling at varrock to make a quick buck.
  16. It's not just the EOC that was a very bad update that ruined the game for us, but yes, absolutely, we see several changes in recent years as ruining our enjoyment of the game and we would rather have the current game minus the screw-ups than an exact replica of the game BEFORE the screwups, because several GOOD changes were also made in those years. "Go back to EOC" and "07 needs to remain exactly as is!" are two extremes that do not sit with us very well. Both are far from optimal. We want the optimal mix of both. The updates and polls indicate Jagex want the same thing that we do.
  17. no Sigh. I guess this is the curse of mostly veterans being around now, everyone thinks they're a leet mercher. The GE is for convenience, the same thing will happen without it, it'll just take 5000 times longer.
  18. You have a 1/16 chance of getting a barrows item if you kill 6 brothers. You can work it out by adding all the barrows item prices together, dividing by the number of them (24) and then dividing that by 16. The prices are extremely unstable and I'm not familiar with them, assume they add up to 40m. This makes the average item worth 1.66m. This makes the average chest worth 104k in barrows items. The smaller rewards pretty much pay for your spells and prayer pots.
  19. Yes this is exactly what I want, who wouldn't? It's been made very clear that this server won't be an exact replica of old 07, and content will be changed or added, why? Because 07 was pretty crappy in it's own ways and runescape has had some great updates hidden under all the garbage ones, take off the nostalgia glasses and this will be clear. I see this as Jagex doing exactly as you described, the best of both worlds, taking what was good and leaving out what was bad, to the point that "07" is just "Good RS" and EOC is, well, yeah. This involves some big changes such as the grand exchange and new bosses. (But not necessarily new *better* weapons such as chaotics)
  20. For anyone interested in making good money right off tutorial island: Complete waterfall quest. Fire strike fire giants, use rune scimmy drops to pay for more runes, bury all b bones on location (including LOTS that other players leave) until 43 prayer - You'll be around 65-70 mage at this point. Use your extra income to buy lots of prayer potions and chaos runes, do barrows with fire bolt. [You car far cast the melee brothers, it requires walking around as they chase you and getting pop shots off. Useful for Verac.] That's it, really. After some time you may wish to train slayer and then use slayer dart for barrows, it's wiser to do barrows "inefficiently" for the first few items, so you can make the rest of the game so much more efficient. (Slayer is a lot easier when you have optimal gear and potions and teles)
  21. I forgot that DKs existed... Now i have to decide if i should ruin my pure so I can fight a sub-par boss, or just stick with main until a real PVM challenge comes... Either way, I'm getting a dang berserker ring!
  22. The price of items should never be a concern over their being in the game or not, as stated earlier the prices are decided by the players. If GWD becomes 3 times as much money as crafting nature runes is, stop running nature runes, do GWD, with time Natures or something else will become better money as the supply of the GWD items will be very high from everyone doing it. This is how the economy works, and from a gameplay perspective, it forces variety to remain efficient, which is cool. Of the two activities, natures are the one with the biggest problems. They can be bought in stores for a set price the market price often comes close to, so they'll always have an upper limit. Not to mention "running" allows level 1's to make as much as level 99's at the cost of experience that clearly doesn't matter, as they're making the money regardless. AND competition doesn't hurt efficiency, it doesn't matter how many people on your world are making nature runes, you'll not be hindered, you won't have to beat anyone. Nature rune crafting is an awfully boring thing to be the best money maker in the game anyway, it's the kind of thing that makes players stop enjoying the game. It's probably legitimately bad for your mental health to get 99 rc.
  23. Prices are dictated by players. Your point would be valid if Graardor dropped 1m nature runes. The main reasons GWD is good money is that you can't bot it, and you must be fairly high tier to do it efficiently. The usefulness of the items played a large part but just look at ZGS prices to see usefulness wasn't the only aspect driving prices. If jagex work on their anti-bot stuff like has been rumored, it's possible nat running would be better money than GWD, as most people would enjoy LEGIT GWD over LEGIT nat running for any extended period of time and thus the supply of both would change drastically. Whips only fell in value because 85 slayer became less uncommon and millions of unneeded whips entered the game as the supply was way higher than demand. Plus demons were given a side-loot of ashes meaning if whips didn't fall demons would be TOO good money. I agree there is too much untradable armour used in PVP. (Small point: Bandos plate is tradable and replaces the torso FYI, wealthy players often value it less than the torso too, so would be risking it in the same situations.) Edgeville is the best place for simple melee fights, edge essentially means no protection prayers, no hybrids, and tele is expected. Player made rules that are not always followed. I didn't mention mage as the only practical use of mage in Edge is to infuriate melee characters with ice barrage, as otherwise you lack the KO power and defense to stand a serious chance. I didn't mention void or dark bow as both are used by rushers that don't perceive even having a chance of dieing, nobody risks void for an actual fight, and doing so would would be impractical.
