  1. Finished another task of Gargoyles, followed by a fairly profitable task of Ganos. Both went very very quick, and my next Magic level is closer on the horizon. Task 1190 is abyssal demons, but I'll save that for later. I've gone and taken advantage of the 1-year subscription, so I finally broke down and used the Runecoins to buy bankspace. I am a hoarder in the worst way and I could never properly build a loot tab, since I am constantly scrambling for space. Now, that won't be a problem so I will try and hold onto drops for a little bit. Maybe I will sell every so often, or maybe I will see how long I can resist the urge. :P Nonetheless, I will periodically take screenshots of my collection of stuff.
  2. It looks like they were fixed, I was there post-update yesterday and mowed through them pretty quick. On task, slayer helm, 94 Magic, fire surge, extreme mage pots and Torment on.
  3. OK, I finally finished my warped tortoise task. Finally. Couple of observations: They are stupidly slow even with bolts. Granted, I am using rune cbows with broads, but even with Anguish on, and extreme range pots, even abilities are less than stellar. I did these once before post-EoC, so I am guessing their defense may have been buffed up, and not brought back down with yesterday's update. That and I got more perfect shells than regular shells. Long story short, these are so dreadfully boring it's not even worth it for me anymore. These were a fun, quick task when they were still weak to melee. I foresee myself cancelling these, if not blocking them in the future. Kuradal must want me to level up Magic, however, as she is sending me right back to Gargoyles when I get back from work. I won't complain. :D
  4. Yesterday's update supposedly lowered the defenses of a number of monsters. The patch notes only mentioned steel dragons and dark beasts specifically, but I imagine a good number of Slayer monsters were included. I did tasks of gargoyles pre- and post-update with the same setup, and found the post-update to be ridiculously easy.
  5. Finished a task of vyrewatch and a task of gargoyles tonight. I knew about certain untradeables being able to be noted with the KK update, but I did not realize that vyre corpses can now be put into yak! That makes tasks in Darkmeyer that much easier now. Also, their weakness may be thrown, but Blisterwood Polearm still cuts through 'em like a hot knife through butter. Also, I assume gargoyles may have been one of the monsters they adjusted with the update today, as I did a task last night with the same method and gear, and I was doing a lot of splashing. Tonight I was actually one-hitting a few of them with Wrack. Talk about a fast task, I did 210 and still had half my Steelie left! Started a warper tortoise task tonight. Still haven't decided if I want to finally give up and start skipping these. Other tasks have become so quick that these are starting to be boring. I think they were more fun when they were weak to melee. Only other notable events tonight were: 88 Thieving, and finally reaching the Scythe region in POP.
  6. I have had that same glitch in PoP. I'm so glad they fixed it. Good luck in reaching your goals. How do you fund your training? I've often wondered how folks can afford to train anything to 200M without having some solid way of bringing in income.
  7. Congrats on 200M Defense! Wow! I especially liked seeing your Slayer drop collection... I don't know if I could save up that much without being tempted to sell stuff.
  8. I am actually kind of happy about that since Range and Mage are the two combat skills I still need to finish off. Ganos, for example, are a very nice source of Magic XP. Also, I'd like to thank the random guy at Ganos today who suggested that instead of safespotting with Deflect Mage that I just tank the buggers and keep Soul Split turned on. Made my task so much nicer.
  9. I got my 99 in May of 2010, prior to most of my guildmates even having chaotic weapons, and well before I even had extremes or turmoil. Cannons just never really appealed to me. I tried it, but found they were just too much work!
  10. As of 7/8/2014 SLAYER XP: 46,345,120 Ohai! This is, more-or-less, my scenic tour of the road to 200M Slayer. I realize this is quite a hefty undertaking. At this point in time, 17 players have it, with many more on the doorstep. Nonetheless, the skill does still take some time and dedication. About Myself Why 200M Slayer? What about other skills? Why not max? Y u no has rapier?! and Y u no use cannon? *UPDATED 7/8/14* And now for the other stats: DEFENSE XP: 88,981,339 CONSTITUTION XP: 51,864,356 RANGE XP: 19,627,341 MAGE XP: 19,352,800 TASKS COMPLETED: 1722 **Dungeoneering Goals:** Current Quest goals - UPDATED 7/8/14 - :
  11. A lot of monsters seem to be messed up at the moment. Hopefully they will be sorted soon enough.
  12. Cerri replied to karnsy81's topic in Help and Advice
It's absolutely worth it, even if you don't have the skills now. Just keep plugging away at it, and before you know it, you'll have the skills AND the materials to make some pretty awesome gear and items. I keep telling myself how good that Tetsu plate is gonna look while I'm slogging away on my smith levels...
  13. Unsurprisingly, they turned down his appeal as well. It's a shame to lose a good friend and guildmate over such a mistake. And to rollback his mining all the way to level 1 two weeks or so after maxing? It irks me how Jagex claims to be so careful to not ban legit players, but when they do, they are loath to fix their mistakes.
  14. There are still quite a few bots that are Slaying, as well. I haven't been into the Fremennik Slayer Cave lately, but the other night I did a task of Nechs in the Slayer Tower and over the course of the time I was there, I saw no less than 5 different strangely-named, poorly-geared "players" endlessly killing Nechs. A quick look at their hiscores revealed they all had 80 Slayer, 33 FM, and maxed melee stats, with pretty much nothing else of note. Fast forward a few days to another task there, and in the same world (I almost always play in w44 for some reason, and no, not for Soul Wars) I saw the exact same bots that were there the first time. I bet if I went back now, they are still there. Which means they have been day in and day out camping Nechs for at least 3 or 4 weeks. And people wonder why rune boots are so cheap now. It also answers the question why Slayer isn't nearly as profitable as it used to be. I used to look forward to those boot drops. :(
  15. While I won't speak for others, I don't avoid cannons out of respect. I just know darn well that as much as I dislike them, cannons are part and parcel of the efficient slaying package. Therefore, I doubt any cannon-user is going to just pack up if I ask them nicely to share some spawns.
  16. Depends what they drop. I would hate to look at my adventure log later on and see a big drop that I missed. I guess have grown from being the little fish to the big fish now... Having started slaying at lvl 3, I ended up being a decent slay level while still low combat. I not so fondly recall tasks of blue dragons in Taverly that I had to range because I was too weak to melee them with any speed. That's if I could even get kills! Every world used to be filled with people... Who all had higher combat and range levels than me. :( Nowadays I am a few million over level 99, going back into some of those tasks with my whip vine, extremes, and good gear. I try not to be too much of a jerk, I remember when I was in their shoes. But I won't spend an hour deferring good training or slaying spots to level 85s. Most spots can comfortably accomodate 2 people. The only place I run into problems is warped torts. There is only 2 spawned in that front room, so no, I will not share those with you. If you see that I am able to kill both and be ready when the next one spawns, then you are better served to just move along.
  17. To be fair, I make Summoning pots, but I keep them for myself, LOL. I am terrible when it comes to working out all the math and cash. Really. It makes my head explode. However, I would HIGHLY recommend getting that Scroll of Cleansing. It will help a lot, especially preparing for and during BXPW. If you aren't buying unfinished pots, then you will need to make sure to have all your herbs in vials prior to the start of your bonus. the Scroll will help you there, as you will be able to make more pots. Similarly the Scroll will help you save some secondaries, so you may end up with some to sell back when its all done. (This was a big help for me with say, grenwall spikes.)
  18. I got all my herbs from Kingdom, Farming and Slayer. It's hard to say how much of each type of pot you should make to get up to extremes. You'd need to work out how many pots you make per hour, and figure out the extra experience you'd get per pot from the BXP multiplier. That's a lot of math. What I did was, as I stockpiled, I periodically used a calc to tally up how much XP I had banked, then multiplied by 1.67. That gave me a rough ballpark of what I could expect for XP on the BXP weekend. In actuality, I ended up with way more than my estimate for the same money and preparation. It couldn't hurt to get a Scroll of Cleansing, if you're into dungeoneering. It helps you make extra unf pots as well as saving secondaries. It will help you eke a few more pots out of your supplies, which means more XP for you. And speaking of making unfs, make sure all your herbs are in vials prior to the start of the weekend. Unless you have the armor from the new rogues den (and we don't know if that will work on BXP weekend yet.) you don't get XP from making unf pots so you won't want to waste time. This also goes for secondaries you can't buy, like phoenix feathers. And make sure all your mud runes, or unicorn horns, etc., are ground up beforehand too. Try not to blow your entire bank on it. Save yourself a little reserve cash, so that in case you get very close to your goal, or past your goal but close to another milestone, you can purchase last minute supplies. My experience on the last BXP weekend was that people were prepared so far in advance that there was no real panic for supplies. There were plenty of people unloading their stockpiles, selling off finished potions, etc., to keep prices reasonable.
  19. I saw some discussion on the RSOF, so I read through the BTS again. Sounds like perhaps I was getting ahead of myself. From the sounds of this statement, the Visages will only be there for the "celebration" week. Back to slaying, I go... Oh look, 30 Miths... :P
  20. I am not a quester at all, LOL. So eventually someday I'll get there. I do sort of take exception however to the whole Draconic Visage in Barrows thing. My entire experience in RS, has been hoping and praying for one of these beauties to drop from a dragon. With the levels and equipment I have now, Barrows is a cakewalk, as it is for most people. Between double loot and the sheer number of people who will go to Barrows, there are going to be a lot of these dropping. But it isn't even about prices. I just feel the whole experience is cheapened to have it drop from Barrows rather than a dragon. Does that make sense? Maybe I am just biased, as I have never had a visage drop in 18m Slayer XP.

That's the tradeoff. PPS is a good weapon for camping (or any activity where mage XP is NOT a primary goal) as it costs very little for the damage it does. But if mage XP is the goal, then it is better to spend the runes and use SOL, despite doing less damage.
  22. Cerri replied to Sinkhan's topic in Help and Advice
It hits very nicely on mithrils. However, being sub-99 myself, the low xp of the PPS is kind of a turnoff. So at least for me, it's more of a camping staff than a training staff.
  23. Puzzle Pirates has a healthy and thriving poker community. And yet Runescape cannot?
  24. I'm not sure how common they are, I have yet to be assigned any polypore monsters, and I gave up camping and went back to slaying on Thursday, LOL. My clanmates have been trying out some of the other monsters on task, and apparently they are not too bad. The downside, however, is that they aren't as easily safespotted. However, they are still decent for collecting flakes and spores, if you're into that. I am probably a bit less efficient than others, and I don't cannon. Vyres are a good task, though. I like burning corpses, so it is worth it for me, not to mention lots of death/blood rune drops. If you hang out near the altar you can pray protect/deflect melee and piety/turmoil without using any potions, so that keeps costs down. Jadinkos are entirely a tossup. I find the males to be really slow and boring. I usually do as many as I can stand, and then finish the task on guards once I get too bored.
  25. The original poster mentioned more than once that Chaotics are not in his near future. Whip, with or without the vine, is a fine alternative for most tasks. If you want some more advice, feel free to drop into SGV1 sometime. We have members for whom 99 is a long way away, and many who passed 99 a long time ago, and never stopped!
