Grendel is a real mythical creature, although he didn't exist. Pokemon are real fictional monsters, the wolpertinger is a derivative of a real mythical creature, a germanic version of the Jackalope, IE: The Wolpertinger is not just a Jagex attempt at a pokemon-esque ripoff, but has real roots in an already existing fictional creature.

When I said that, I didn't actually think anyone would be that pathetic. Also: Wolpertinger is a real mythical creature, not a pokemon. I didn't realize that pokemon (Yes, I played red and blue when they first came out) could only be out for a certain amount of time, and needed to be trained with the summoning skill. When we have to get badges in Summoning by defeating "obleisk gym bosses" and are given a "Summon-dex" to record information on our summon-mon, then I'll believe you. Otherwise, /thread.

After completing Dealing with Scabaras, and completing the additional mini-quest, Simon will now accept pottery, ivory, and stone artifacts as bank notes. He does not accept noted gold artifacts, however.

After years of seeing the game get ruined by bots (RSC shutting down to the public, changes in rs2 over the years), I eventually turned bot hunting into a sport, with the knowledge and hope that every bot I got banned was one more hit against some leech getting it's next meal or funding that college it was going to go to. And yes, I do value Runescape and the integrity of Jagex more than the welfare of a human being who wishes to profit off of fraud.

I've found f2p has always had more group pkers than p2p, usually a few friends who create accounts with similar names (IE: Pk Ranger and Pk Rang3r teaming at varrok wilderness....Killing my skiller...not that I'm referring to a real life player or anything :-w .)

We've got Lumbridge and Falador, which are close enough to Varrok, so I'd have to pull a no on that.

Uh.. that doesn't prove jack squat, actually, even if it's true (which I doubt). Considering that he's a thief, if all they did was ask him then he got off easy. Jagex allow you to download the Client that forms both RS and RS2 without stopping you. There's a big difference between the client that acts as a browser to let you play the game, and a client that actually downloads all of the files onto your computer.

I, personally, believe we could've compromised by Jagex putting in the old wilderness, but that player kills there act the same as any other death, with the gravestone system. We could do that and keep the new wilderness minigames as a way so those who want to fight for loot can still do it.

I was under the impression that that was a nest, not the entrance to a dungeon....Hence the eggs on top of it. But yea, those have been there for quite a while now.

I guess it's kind of like ripping off a bandage, and then giving the child a lollipop. I don't think that the update is coming in two strikes because of the updates, more reasonable being the size of the update, however I do believe that the release date does have a lot to do with the Dec 10th updates. So the next time someone in runescape asks what summoning is, you can tell them it's the lollipop on their bandage. :uhh:

You're missing the big difference between the two updates you're comparing. The duel tournament, Jagex knew beforehand that it would piss of customers and that they would lose members, and they acknowledged that. If you can find me a post where a Jmod said that Summoning will piss people off and be the reason a bunch quit, then I'll consider your comparison valid. To cook while pking? I still have no problem selling my sharks at market price, cooked or raw. I also have no problem merchanting, in fact I made a few million off of it this week. And I also had no problem giving gifts to a few of my f2p friends. And it's not just young children who don't know any better who will continue to play this game. Personally, I'm 18, and 90% of the people on my friends list are between the ages of 20 and 55 (Yes, the 55 is referring to a real person on my list) and none of them have quit. The only people on my friends list who have quit or are threatening to quit are usually whiny, even before these updates.

Could be. Could also be just another marketing strategy. The big marketing strategy in MMOs is to give em a taste, then make them wait for the slice. In this case, Jagex is giving us a slice with coolwhip, and letting us digest it before they hand out second servings. And wingedfish does have a point with size. The other skills lagged the game. Summoning, with the animation, sound, and pictures is (full, both updates) probably sizable as an uber-skill.

I love how people are looking at summoning, with how great Jagex is making it out to be, and automatically assuming it's all a big conspiracy and the skill is going to be boring to train like farming. Until farming becomes a combat skill, you really need to work on your skills of speculation.

I figured they'd skip a week to release the skill. Way too much hype to get done in that time.
