Jagex & Tip.It Interview discussion thread!
To put it in short: The past two CEO's (Geoff Iddison and...wasn't it Constant Tedder before him?) had a loaded pistol in the CEO desk, named "The Answer" Whenever a Jmod would go in and ask "Why do we alienate fansites so much", they would get "the answer". Luckily, Mark Gerhard doesn't need a gun. I can picture him going to various departments and charlie horsing Jmods and shredding concept for stuff like a stronghold of positivity and finding more fansites to ban on mention. Why? Because that's how he rolls. Mark Gerhard is the Barack Obama to Jagex, I stand by that.

21st April 2009 - Tale of the Muspah
That's funny, we've had some pretty major bugs under this new CEO already. µ Glitch - Which caused MANY players to crash and lose millions Penguin Glitch - Which gave players millions of EXP, some even got to keep 100s of thousands of exp without getting banned. pvp Glitch - Players received millions in minutes, yet little to none seem to be banned. I liked the old ceo better, I could care less about communication, stop wasting time and do your damn job. There's been less quality and quantity. Because we all know that the CEO handles fixing bugs, and is personally responsible for making the game bug-free. None were banned for the pvp glitch? Get a clue.

A brief moment of empathy
No, but then again I have a basic understanding of the difference between real people and autonomous pixels. Real people have emotions, don't have an infinite supply of money, don't respawn on death (I found that out the hard way), and have a memory span of longer than your meeting. Runescape people on the other hand have an infinite supply of cash, do not feel emotion aside from one or two that they are programmed to respond with, will not remember you after your initial scuffle unless they're a quest npc, and respawn after death. And let's not forget the all important: It's a game. You're reading too far into it. I'm going to go murder a chicken in your name (In runescape, calm down!)

Jagex's Development Diaries = Dayyyuum. So much better than the Behind The Scenes.

The Mystics - Can The Head Mystic Be The Mahjarrat Sliske?!
Zaros didn't fight in the god wars, he'd been banished a long time before. I thought Zamorak used the Staff of Armadyl to kill him and usurp his place as a god during the God Wars. Zaros was overthrown during the second age. The God Wars erupted after Zamorak used his new position to try and take over as much as he could.

F2P/Member Players
Indeed. Members are almost as bad as f2p'ers some of time. Look at the RSOF, many members are on the same level as f2p'ers when given the chance to voice their opinions.

Quest start on Mini-map
I thought you'd uncovered a new quest marker on the mini-map. Wasn't aware of this though. Handy.

F2P/Member Players
1. Yea. The longer people play, the higher level they collectively become. It happens with any game. 2. Throwaway accounts, basically. Many of them will see a few months of use followed by abandonment. 3. People get bored with their mains and create skillers.

Next week Dutch, Portugese and Finnish RS forums!
How do you say that in Dutch? OMFG (don't really need to translate that) ik zag zezima. Runescape forums, not FunOrb, so your chances of seeing Zezima are slim. He belongs to us now.

Items Kept on death, and other odds and ends.
The biggest problem Runescape faces with this is that the game is online, persistant, and cannot be paused. Sure you could have the menu come up on death, but what then? Do you allow it to stay up as long as the person needs, and allow for them to wait for a friend to come by and bless the grave? Do you put a time limit on it? What happens then if someone lags out and misses the time-deadline? Does the gravestone timer start at death or after the items are chosen? The biggest problem I see with choosing items on death is that it will make the economy even more out of whack than it is now. Armor and weapons are where they are because of their drop value. If you allowed more expensive items to be kept on death, you would just end up with expensive armors and weapons with low alch value tanking because no one is losing them. Take the Guthan Spear for example, it's the most expensive because you lose it out of the set, and the set itself isn't exactly a common item (Not as common as say, Rune). If runescape was a single player game without a player driven economy, this would work. Otherwise, there are a lot less problems under the current system.

A look into past updates/Jagex time management.
Um..no. They hired completely new people for FunOrb and now for Mechscape, they're not spreading out the original team to work on three games, it's three completely different teams hired for their respective games.

Riots in Runescape, have you seen one?
Seeing that reapme was part of the problem isn't as much of a surprise when you realize him, and half of his clan, are going to be permabanned for abusing the pvp glitch.

Trade Limit
To be honest, it's been discussed to death over the past two years. There are literally no more ways we can say it.

When a RS bug was NOT blown out of proportion
Who the hell called for /b/lackup? Seriously, that buzzer is for EMERGENCY USE ONLY. Oh yea, and: Remember the dead farmer glitch, where a farmer would be caught in the dead position, have infinite health, and would be read as still alive? I wish I still had those pictures.

Once a great game. A story/Rant for veteran players.
Yes, and children can actively think and decide for themselves. Not all 10-year-old's will accept a cigarette because they have the ability to take into account that Cancer = Bad. I know a kid who had his own parent offer him a cigarette but he still refused it because he knew about the risks. Who would've known a kid can be more mature than an adult? I agree. That would be me you're describing right there.

When a RS bug was NOT blown out of proportion
After the 6/6/6 glitch started going away, I remember someone else found a glitch that enabled PvP in a slayer tower. It was fixed after an hour or two of its discovery, not many knew about it. When Quickchat was released, instead of sending a message, quickchatting would disconnect you.

You're relatively new, so I'll just throw hesitation out the door: Eatrunearrow, as I'm sure you've deduced, is a huge troll that shows up every now and then to weep about the same two talking points (omg rs wuz so gud b4 u guise got hur) and (bring bak wildee nao!). Oh and to settle the other argument: The difference between acting mature and being mature is acting mature is a simple parroting of advice or actions of another. Being mature is being able to actively think and decide for yourself. For example: Acting mature is turning off the night light because mom says the boogie man won't come. Being mature is sleeping with a loaded pistol with the safety off and one eye open, knowing the night light won't help you either way.

More Andrew posts from RSOF (future updates)
I was going to make a thread on this, but decided I would throw my laundry in first. Bad choice. Still, can't wait to see this. I don't have any friends I trade with frequently on Runescape, so the trade limit isn't a worry of mine. Definitely on the in-game messages. I hate how the current system is all or nothing. As for price caps, this will be interesting. I see a LOT of items hitting 1gp by the end of the year.
